things like that are why some of us carry guns.

So you can shoot suspected criminals rather than chop their   hands off? These people are being charged for attempting to punish alleged criminals. Whilst  down in Florida  the police seem to condone and encourage such behaviour

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- A Daytona Beach father beat an 18-year-old man unconscious after finding him sexually abusing his 11-year-old son early Friday morning, police said.

The father called 911 around 1 a.m. after he walked in on the alleged abuse, police said. When officers arrived, they found Raymond Frolander motionless on the living room floor. He had several knots on his face and was bleeding from the mouth.

"He is nice and knocked out on the floor for you," the father told the 911 dispatcher. "I drug him out to the living room."

The Daytona Beach News-Journal (http://bit.ly/1tZV6o9 ) reports that the father — who was not identified by police — told investigators he walked in as Frolander was abusing the boy.

When asked by the 911 dispatcher if any weapons were involved, the father said "my foot and my fist."

The father has not been charged with any crime.

"Dad was acting like a dad. I don't see anything we should charge the dad with," Daytona Beach Police Chief Mike Chitwood said. "You have an 18-year-old who has clearly picked his target, groomed his target and had sex with the victim multiple times."

Frolander is charged with sexual battery on a child under 12. He is being held without bail. It was not immediately known whether he'd hired a lawyer.

According to the arrest affidavit, Frolander admitted the abuse.

Here we go again, with you defending Islam, amor.

Muslims were enacting Sharia law which is unconstitutional and is not legal to do in this country.  We don't punish people who steal by cutting off their hands.  If someone steals, we have a system set up to try and punish such offenders.  It is illegal and criminal in and of itself to impose Sharia law in the United Sates.  So yes we should punish those who attempt to impose Sharia law.  This is not a Muslim country and we are not going to tolerate Sharia law.

The man down in Florida was defending and protecting His son from a child molester.   It had nothing to do with shooting anyone.  The father was right in what he did.  He was protecting the welfare of his son and the molester got what he deserved.    If I had a son and someone tried to harm him, the  person harming him would meet with unfortunate consequences.

I'm not defending the mad Mullahs of Philadelphia who are facing prosecution, merely highlighting a double standard with regard to taking the law into ones own hands. Would you accept that if your "unfortunate consequences" went beyond "reasonable force" you would yourself have committed a crime and should face prosecution?

The gun reference was with regard to Other Ones comment - that's quite clear from the context, so there is  no need to muddy the waters. To be honest, as far as I can see, at least in the South, US gun laws seem to give paranoid crazies like George Zimmerman a licence to kill.

George Zimmerman was found not guilty in a court of law and was NOT a paranoid gun crazy. People seem to forget that he shot Trayvon Martin in self-defence. Martin was bashing Zimmerman's skull into the pavement at the time when Zimmerman drew his gun and shot him.

Remember the adage 'innocent until proven guilty' and that includes 'innocent when proven innocent'.

I can't see how you can possibly defend Martin over Zimmerman when Martin was a a known violent thug who had a previous criminal record for a number of offences.

But I expect you'd have preferred it if Zimmerman had been unable to defend himself and had ended up being bashed into unconsciousness.

fairly easily Zimmerman chased Martin not vice-versa  Zimmerman had a gun Martin didn't. Martin didn't had a criminal record. Maybe both were  victims of US absurd gun laws

Who's Your Daddy?

Hurley’s detectives, all of them veterans with excellent records, told a different story under oath when questioned by Internal Affairs.

They knew the shell game was about to be exposed upon first learning that Martin was one of their students and outside agencies would be requesting his records.

“Oh, God, oh, my God, oh, God,” one major reportedly said when first looking at Martin’s data. He realized that Martin had been suspended twice already that school year for offenses that should have gotten him arrested – once for getting caught with a burglary tool and a dozen items of female jewelry, the second time for getting caught with marijuana and a marijuana pipe.

In each case, the case file on Martin was fudged to make the crime less serious than it was. As one detective told IA, the arrest statistics coming out of Martin’s school, Michael Krop Senior, had been “quite high,” and the detectives “needed to find some way to lower the stats.” This directive allegedly came from Hurley.

“Chief Hurley, for the past year, has been telling his command staff to lower the arrest rates,” confirmed another high-ranking detective.

When asked by IA whether the M-DSPD was avoiding making arrests, that detective replied, “What Chief Hurley said on the record is that he commends the officer for using his discretion. What Chief Hurley really meant is that he’s commended the officer for falsifying a police report.”

The IA interrogators seemed stunned by what they were hearing. They asked one female detective incredulously if she were actually ordered to “falsify reports.” She answered, “Pretty much, yes.”

Once the top brass understood that the Martin case had the potential to expose the reason for the department’s stunning drop in crime, they told the detectives “to make sure they start writing reports as is; don’t omit anything.”

“Oh, now, the chief wants us to write reports as is,” said a Hispanic detective sarcastically, “and not omit anything, as we have been advised in the past?”

The IA investigation delved into the paranoid concern that the M-DSPD was sharing information about Martin with other relevant police departments as it routinely did in other multi-jurisdictional cases.

The one detective who sent information to the Sanford PD came under heavy fire. He was appalled. “Currently, our department is functioning and operating out of fear,” he told the IA. “It is tragic to see that I’ve been disciplined at the direction of Chief Hurley.” http://www.wnd.com/2013/04/police-buried-trayvons-criminal-history/#jLKzqPm8QERMLfGA.99

Here is the call transcript (it includes some swearing) clearly Zimmerman chases Martin before he shot him

It's true that he was advised not to pursue him,but he thought that he was doing his duty as a neighbourhood watchman. Zimmerman was foolish to proceed.

But it was Martin who attacked Zimmerman. He didn't just punch him, he pushed Zimmerman to the ground and proceeded to pound him. Zimmerman drew his gun to defend himself.

Zimmerman did make mistakes but his use of force was justified.

The jury had to decided what actually happened and they came to a verdict based on that decision.

Zimmerman's blunders led to the death of Martin, but that's not what the trial was about - it was about whether he was guilty of murder or not and the jury believed that to be the case.

What's interesting about this case is that it turned into a racial issue, when I see it as two men fighting. One was thuggish and aggressive, the other was foolish and impetuous.

The whole event was a tragedy, but the haters, liars and race-baiters have turned it into a political matter.

There are no winners here, only losers on both sides.

Zimmerman didn't chase him down in order to shoot him.  Zimmerman shot him after he was overpowered by Martin and Martin had Zimmerman on the ground.  Zimmerman shot out of self defense while in fear of his life.

Zimmerman was wrong and got over zealous; that is not in dispute.   But Zimmerman didn't chase Martin down to kill him.  Zimmerman was assaulted by Martin.  Martin was bigger and stronger than Zimmerman and Zimmerman had every reason to believe his life was in danger while pinned to the ground and getting beaten up.   It was when Martin reached for Zimmerman's gun that Zimmerman knew he was about to be killed and he fired his gun not with the intent to kill but with the intent to frighten Martin.  The unfortunate result was that Zimmerman shot Martin.

It wasn't race related, it wasn't the case that Zimmerman was looking to kill Martin.  Zimmerman killed in self-defense, pure and simple.
