Couldn't they be had up for child abuse?!?

Wouldn't the parents (of the child who had the handcuffs on) protest?

The handcuffs on a 5-year-old could really hurt them!

No...letting the child act out violently could really hurt the child. The child's behavior was far more dangerous than restraint in handcuffs.

We, as teachers, are given formal training in restraint. We take courses by law enforcement on proper technique. So are policemen.

It's necessary to keep the child from harming themself or others. Handcuffs won't harm the child but leaving the child to run amok WILL cause potential harm.

I dunno, man.....hancuffing a 5-year old seems a little......excessive...regardless of the behavior or size.

I can't believe that a 5-year-old child could be so unruly and uncontrollable that a police officer would need to be called in to arrest her and place handcuffs on her. Even if this teacher weighed 90 pounds wet she certainly could have overpowered a child of 5. Or at the very least she could have called another couple of teachers in to restrain the kid. I just can't believe that they would have had to call in the police.

I've seen kids of this age with severe behavioral disorders. There are special schools to take care of those kids. But even at those schools they have staff there that can restrain and seclude the kids when they act up. Even thy don't call the police unlessit's something really serious.

Anytime a child poses a potential danger to "other children" it's better to restrain the child and avoid having another child from getting hurt than end up in litigation because you, (the school) FAILED to restrain a child who's acting out violently.

I had a very small boy acting out violently against other children. He had to be restrained physically. That's the law.

Many people don't remember years ago when a SIX YEAR OLD boy was actually arrested and charged with entering into a family's home with 2 other boys and removing an infant from his baby carriage and throwing the baby onto the floor.

The infant was left brain damaged and crippled for life. There was enormous media attention raised then but now that case is forgotten.

It's hard to believe but small children CAN and DO harm other children, particularly those who are smaller or more vulnerable than they are.

If teachers DON'T intervene with a child who's acting out violently, there's the potential for another child to fall victim. Then you'll end up with a lawsuit from the victim's family.

You can't win for losing....I'm glad I'm not teaching anymore.

....And I'm glad I never started. The first time a kid ever raised a fist to me....

Let's just say that it would be my last day teaching.

When you teach in Southeast Asia, (where I taught for awhile) Asian parents treat teachers like royalty.

They bring gifts and food to the classroom and invite you to their homes for dinner. Teachers are highly exalted...never sued!

Children are expected to treat their teachers with the highest respect. Not in America....

Why even teach? Society pays virtually nothing in salary but subjects the teacher to scorn, ridicule and the potential for lawsuits.

At least doctors get paid decently. I'm glad I'm out of the teaching field now...

I had to go and pay a bill for my son inside a business place here in my town.

There was a woman about 60 years old sitting behind the desk.

The way the desk was where she was sitting...I had to go to the side of her desk to make the payment.

I noticed that her leg was amputated, right below her knee.

She and I had gotten into a nice conversation about the LORD,and then she

mentioned her leg was giving her problems. She told me she was having

pain in it. Then she told me why her leg had to be amputated.

She said that she was visiting people she knew, and there were other visitors there at the same time,........ who had a little girl about 4or 5 years old.

The little girl just went up to her and bit her on the leg.

The leg got worst with severe infection and from the bite,

Doctors had to amputate this womans leg.

This is a true story.

LOVE and PEACE to everyone,
