The Old Covenant between God and man = salvation or saved from hell by keeping the Law. The New Covenant between God and man = salvation by having faith in Jesus Christ alone. cf: LUKE.16:19-31, MATTHEW.17:3 & 27:52, 1PETER.3:19 & 4:6. . The New Testament consists of the History of Jesus the Christ/Messiah/Saviour, ie His birth, ministry, death, resurrection, ascension and kingdom = acts and letters of the apostles and disciples. The Jews believe only in the Old Testament and are still waiting for their Messiah/Christ/Saviour. The Jews reject the New Testament, Jesus Christ and everything about Him or His kingdom. The New Testament includes the New Covenant-salvation but is not the same as the New Covenant. Similarly, the Old Testament includes the pre-Law, the Noah Covenant, the Abrahamic Covenant, the Law, the Old Covenant-salvation, acts of the prophets/prophetesses, judges, kings and the prophecies of the Prophets but is not the same as the Old Covenant. . Okay... then what say you about what the Bible says on the subject? Hebrews 9:13–17 (AV) 13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: 14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? 15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. 16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. 17 For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth. That would mean the Old Testament was still in effect until the death of the Messiah on the cross (no matter what humanity "thinks" or "believes"). Matthew 6:9–15 (AV) 9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. 14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: 15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Is this a clause in John 3:16-18 and Ephesians 2:8-10 and even 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 the Holy Spirit inspired Apostles John and Paul omitted??? Read John chapters 8 and 9 as a single event and you will know what tripped up the Pharisees when they brought the woman to Jesus caught in the act of adultery... it was the Sabbath. If they picked up stones to stone her they would have broken Sabbath law and been disqualified as "those of you without sin cast the first stone at her." She was never in jeopardy. What brilliance! They came to trip up the Messiah (if he excused her he'd be denying the Law, if he judged her he'd be disqualifying himself from Messianic office [who would not as much as snuff out a smoldering wick] ← "I came not to judge" which his first advent was all about... he came to bear the judgment for our sins in his coming he WILL be the judge). But instead... he tripped them up not only on the Law but their additions (613 mitzvot) to the Law. When they realized they'd been had (so to speak) they walked away one by one... God is so amazing and awesome!!!!!!!!

OVER BLACKNESS: WE HEAR the sounds of a crowd and commotion... then out loud: JESUS (V.O.) IT IS FINISHED! FADE IN: EXT. CALVARY HILL OUTSIDE JERUSALEM, JUDEA - DAY Crowds are gathered at the foot of three crosses. Roman soldiers act as though this is just another of thousands of crucifixions they have performed trying to squelch the Jewish uprisings of various sorts. But this time is different... CUT TO: A CLOUDLESS SKY GOES DARK AS EVEN THE SUN APPEARS AS DIM AS THE MOON DOES ON A BRIGHT DAY THE GROUND TREMBLES AND QUAKES AND ROCKS SPLIT ANGLE ON: Jesus on the center cross cries out in the death howl called "giving up the ghost" and his head drops. He is dead. WE HEAR the crowds silence and distant rumbles of thunder as the very existence of humanity rests on the Father's next move... "forgive them for they know not what they do" or to extinguish the whole lot of humans from Adam to the last person and wipe the slate clean... for what was done to his beloved Son... He chooses forgiveness. Hallelujah! FADE OUT. Edited December 23, 2018 by JohnD
