Well, it's considered rude, but in some situations I would say it needs to be done...like that time a guy I thought was my friend started saying bad things to me on the phone :) He wouldn't lay off...told him time and time again to stop, but he wouldn't.... So *shrug* turned the phone off.

I've done it a few times hun...I always said "well gotta go before I say something that I will regret" and just hung up. Sometimes its better to stop a conversation with someone rather than risking hurting them or for that matter you getting hurt.

Take a breather and think it through before speaking to them again, that way your words are chosen wisely :noidea:

Love and Blessings,

Angel

I wouldn't hang up...unless they were being very heartless in their words.

I wouldn't just "hang up".....until I had warned them....several times....then said " I'm sorry, I don't want this"......then I would hang up.

It's more fun to just put the phone down .... the other person keeps on talking, eventually wonders why no one has responded, and finally, after asking "are you there?" .... "hello?".... "helloO?" ... realizes that no one is listening... hangs up in humiliation. :emot-handshake::emot-highfive: I do this with telemarketers.

My grandmother was the world's worst about talking your ears off! You could tell her you needed to go and it was still talk, talk, talk!!! I finally devised a little system. When I got ready to go, I would get up as close to the phone as possible (no cordless phones back then! :emot-heartbeat: ) and move the phone slightly away from my ear and say, "well, I've gotta go now. Bye." I would then hang up the phone, lol!

If someone is saying improper things to you, I don't see a problem with hanging up on them... But that is just me. I have had a lot of experiences with jerks I guess?

Maybe next time just say "You know, I really don't want to hear this type of thing, I have to go now... CLICK"

Sadie...

In your situation... no.  If someone is giving you trouble, please give the phone to either Grandma, Gary, or myself.  We can deal with people who are making you upset.  It's better for one of us to deal with someone, than for you to have to.  Then guess what... you won't have to have the weight of it on your shoulders :21:

I :24: you little lady :24:

That's a good response
