Here is a list showing how the Apostles obey Jesus and went out into the world to preach the Gospel and where they were executed.

1. Matthew, Martyred in Ethiopia, killed by the sword.

2. Mark, Died in Alexandria, Egypt, after being dragged by horses through the streets until his death.

3. Luke. Was hanged in Greece as a result of his preaching to sinners

4. John, he faced martyrdom when he was boiled in a huge pool of boiling oil during a wave of persecution in Rome. However, he was miraculously delivered from death.

John was later sentenced to the mines at Patmos Island Prison. He wrote his book of the prophetic Apocalypse on Patmos. The Apostle John was later released and returned to serve as Bishop of Edessa in modern Turkey. He died as an old man, the only apostle to die peacefully

5. Peter. He was crucified upside down on an x-shaped cross. According to the tradition of the church, it was because he told his executioners that he did not feel worthy to die in the same way that Jesus Christ was crucified.

6. James. The Jerusalem church leader was thrown more than 30 meters from the southeastern summit of the temple when he refused to deny his faith in Christ. When they discovered he had survived the fall, his enemies beat James to death with a club.

It was the same summit where Satan had taken Jesus during temptation.

7. James the Son of Zebedee was a skilled fisherman when Jesus called him to a life of ministry.

As a powerful leader of the church, James was beheaded in Jerusalem. The Roman officer who watched over James looked with astonishment at Jacques' courage to defend his faith during his trial.

Later, the officer who accompanied James next to the place of execution. Overcome by conviction, he declares his new faith to the judge and knelt beside Jacques to accept decapitation as a Christian.

8. Barthelemy. Also known as Nathaniel. He was a missionary in Asia. He testified for our Lord in present-day Turkey. Barthelemy was martyred for his sermons in Armenia where he was flogged.

9. Andrew. He was crucified on an X-shaped cross in Patras, Greece. After being severely flogged by seven soldiers, they tied his body to the cross with ropes to prolong his agony.

His followers reported that when he was led to the cross, Andrew greeted them with these words: "I have long desired and waited for this happy hour. The cross has been consecrated by the body of Christ suspended on it. He continued to preach to his tormentors for two days until he expired.

10. Thomas. He was stabbed with a spear in India during one of his missionary journeys to establish the church in the subcontinent.

11. Jude. He was killed with arrows when he refused to deny his faith in Christ.

12. Matthias. The apostle chosen to replace the traitor Judas Iscariot. He was stoned and then beheaded.

13. Paul. He was tortured and then beheaded by the evil Emperor Nero in Rome, in 67 AD.  Paul endured a long imprisonment that allowed him to write his many epistles in the churches he had formed throughout the Roman Empire. His letters, which taught many fundamental doctrines of Christianity, constitute a large part of the New Testament.

Just wondering if anyone knows anything else about casting lots, or can share some good historical references I could read about the activity.

Thank you!

I know that is the only record of them doing that. And then there was the indwelling of the Holy Spirit (pentacost) and they never did it again. I'm not saying it's wrong to roll the dice. But it's no way to make decisions. ;)
