The root of a tree supports its skyward branches,
Knowing not of the wind or how sunshine answers.
It refuses to budge, creeps without contrition,
Assuming its survival is the proof of nutrition.
Its crooked network is deep, entwined beyond reason,
That’s the way it is and will be, regardless of season.
Cut down its whole tree, you still won't hear it plead!
All that's left is its death or rebirth through a seed...

Ok. I found this 8 liner good to read out loud. Its rhyming pattern gives it an unforced rhythm and flow that is quite clever. Usually I like the content to literally include prominent words from the title, but I made the connection between the "stubborn heart" and the root of a tree that "refuses to budge" so all's well.

If you are willing to say what your inspiration was for this composition, P of E, that would be of interest to me.

"death or rebirth through a seed"... now there's an excellent theme.
