7) ABRAHAM

Chapter 16

- Sarai had no children so she gave her Egyptian servant

Hagar to her husband!

- And she became pregnant!

- But she began to despise her mistress!

- So Sarai humiliated her and she ran away from her!

- Then God’s angel appeared to her!

- He told her to return to her mistress and humble herself!

- And she had to call her child Ishmael!

- And he would become a great nation!

- Abraham was 86 years when Hagar bore Ishmael to him!

- God told Abraham that he was going to give him

the land he was living in!

Abraham had to claim the land. He had to walk around the land God was giving to him and his descendants. The new Jerusalem will be 1500 by 1500 by 1500 miles. The entire Arab Continental plate.

Deuteronomy 11:24 "Every place whereon the sole of your foot shall tread shall be yours: from the wilderness, and Lebanon, from the river, the river Euphrates, even unto the hinder sea shall be your border".

Joshua 1:3 "Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore arise, you and all these people, and cross over the Jordan into the land that I am giving to the children of Israel. 3 I have given you every place where the sole of your foot will tread, just as I promised to Moses. 4 Your territory shall extend from the wilderness and Lebanon to the great River Euphrates—all the land of the Hittites—and west as far as the Great Sea"

Clearly, the child of the "slave" is entitled to the same inheritance as the child of the free women. As very little of the promised land is under the control of the descendants of Israel. Most of the land is controlled by the descendants of Ishmael.

- Yes and they lost everything!

- But there is no big difference with humanity!

- Apparently, it is difficult for man to appreciate what he has!

- it is often when he is going to die that he realizes how precious life is!

- Life is so precious but he usually doesn't care!

- God creates life but man destroys it!

- And he thinks he is superior!

- Ridiculous!

- Yes, and they keep fighting!

- But man only knows fighting!

- And destroying!

8) ABRAHAM

Chapter 17

- When Abraham was 99, God appeared to him

and told him he would become a great nation!

- And God changed his name from Abram to Abraham!

- And he told him again that they would get

the land of Canaan!

- And he established a covenant with him:

every male had to get circumcised!

- The one not being circumcised had to die!

- And he changed the name of Abraham’s wife

from Sarai to Sarah!

- And she was to have a child!

- But Abraham began to laugh and to say in his heart:

“Will a man 100 years old have a child born to him,

and will Sarah, a woman 90 years old, give birth?”

- Thus Abraham and all the men belonging to him

were circumcised!

9) ABRAHAM

Chapter 18

- Abraham saw 3 men and he met them

and invited them to eat something!

- So he told his wife to prepare bread!

- And he asked one of his attendant for

preparing a young bull!

- Finally, one of them told him that next year

Sarah was to have a son!

- And Sarah began to laugh to herself because

she was too old!

- God said to Abraham he was going to destroy

Sodom and Gomorrah!

- Then Abraham had a discussion with God!

- And God told him he was not going to destroy

the two cities if he was to find 50 or 45 or 40 or

30 or 20 or 10 righteous men he would not destroy

the two cities!

- Think about the men who could have such

a discussion with God!

- Not many indeed!

- God really considered Abraham as a faithful servant!

- Yes, with science what is true today will be wrong tomorrow!

- After all, it is human science!

Science has a half life of 47 years. Then new information comes along, and we have a better understanding. DNA was discovered in my lifetime. I remember reading "The Double Helix" by James Watson when I was in High School when it was fresh off the press.

Watson actually does not have a very good reputation. His information is not really wrong. We just know a LOT more about DNA today than we knew back in the '60's.

Of course, it is amazing the Bible has not changed since the day the Bible was given to Moses. Our understanding tends to change, and even our translation changes. Although what we received from the Rabbi has not changed in the Hebrew.

You can say with theology, what is true today will be wrong tomorrow.

Look at gravity. Newton's formulas still work. Einstein's formulas are better because we can do more with them. Newton's math could not get us to Mars. My son is a computer engineer, and he had a professor that taught him how to make a formula. Him and I work together, and he can come up with a formula for some of the things I talk about in terms of astrophysics. I have people who try to argue about the age of the earth because they do not know how well the math is established for that. Using the same math that they use for the GPS on their phone. What they use to call trigonometry.

That is the most difficult for me to understand. God is a God of absolute, perfect, precise justice. Yet the world is filled with what appears to be a LOT of injustice. This seems like a huge contradiction to me. We know a day is 23 hours, 56 minutes and 4.0916 seconds. So we know how accurate and precise things can be.

- Yes, but we know nothing!

- And we are nothing compared to the universe!

- There are so many theories!

- And many are wrong or will be wrong sooner or later!

- Many modern translations turn the bible into something else!

- And many translations have many mistakes!

- And bible translators are supposedf to help people understand it!

- Yes, about religion because of corruption and man's tradition vs God's will!

- God's will has never changed, he is always the God of the promise or of the promises, the whole earth will turn into a paradise, it will only take more time!

- Once again, man doesn't know anything!

- he is just a piece of dust even if he thinks he is important!
