I myself did not start until 9th grade. @Anne2 Like you said, back, ppl indeed smoked naturally. Among factory workers - huge numbers in often stressful environments from WW1 onwards - they smoked naturally. Nurses - again, often in stressful work environments - smoked naturally. Not now so much, but mothers would often leave their cigarette packs open within reach of their teen daughters and then smoke together naturally; it didn't take long for a teen to learn to inhale.
