Do ministry of praise exist?

Many people, taking into consideration some excerpts of the Old Testament (without observing their context), ingress in the career of gospel singer supposing that, thus, they are praising and worshipping the Creator.

Nonetheless, did you already observe the instruction in the New Testament about praise?

•    Eph 5:18-20 -> “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;”.

We need to fill *each other* with the Holy Spirit, speaking to *each other* with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. That is to say, the focus of this excerpt is communion between two (or three believers – Mat 18:20).

The idea is that two believers keep in touch with each other knowing and helping one another in all moments, counting on the help on a third person in case of some misunderstanding.

When one believer sees that the other one is going through some tribulation, this believer can sing a hymn that convey the right message which can serve of solace (see 2Cor 1:3-5). And, in this process, both will be filled of the Holy Spirit.

If all believers follow this process, we will have a Church perfectly united each other and with Christ (as Paul instructed in Eph 4:15,16).

Note that the hymn isn’t a moment of leisure or recreation, but an instrument to touch the soul of the afflicted, distressed, etc. In some cases, although Jesus’ message is extremely powerful, music can be necessary to touch the soul. It is, then, that the hymns need to be singed.

Therefore, ministry of praise doesn’t exist (as if this was a specific office or role). Everyone ought to be prepared to sing a hymn when this is necessary to reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine (2Tim 4:2).

Praise isn’t a session of the cult, but a ministration of one believer in the life of other one at the right moment, in the right way.

So, have a great day using the music to communicate peace and Jesus’ message to the soul of those who need an especial resource so that Jesus’ Word can be ingrafted in their soul more effectually.
