One of the most frequent sources of contradictory and confusing doctrine comes

from a failure to discern between these two, which currently co-exist, The most

glaring example is "replacement theology", which is always hotly debated on forums.

The Lord continues to be faithful to His promises to the natural seed of Abraham.

He has chosen His elect based primarily on His promises to David. You might say,

"but Paul teaches that the elect are the seed of Abraham". Yes, indeed. But the split

occurs with Isaac, the child of promise.

Romans 9:

6 But it is not that the word of God has taken no effect.

For they are not all Israel who are of Israel,

7 nor are they all children because they are the seed of Abraham;

but, “In Isaac your seed shall be called.”

The Church has nothing in Jacob,  with the exception of a remnant of grace,

but as I have already stated, the Lord remains faithful to his natural descendants.

Isaiah 44:

1 “Yet hear now, O Jacob My servant,
And Israel whom I have chosen.
2 Thus says the Lord who made you
And formed you from the womb, who will help you:
‘Fear not, O Jacob My servant;
And you, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen.
3 For I will pour water on him who is thirsty,
And floods on the dry ground;
I will pour My Spirit on your descendants,
And My blessing on your offspring;
4 They will spring up among the grass
Like willows by the watercourses.’
5 One will say, ‘I am the Lord’s’;
Another will call himself by the name of Jacob;
Another will write with his hand, ‘The Lord’s,’
And name himself by the name of Israel.

Jeremiah 33:

23 Moreover the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying,

24 “Have you not considered what these people have spoken,

saying, ‘The two families which the Lord has chosen,

He has also cast them off’? Thus they have despised My people,

as if they should no more be a nation before them.

25 “Thus says the Lord: ‘If My covenant is not with day and night,

and if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth,

26 then I will cast away the descendants of Jacob and David My servant,

so that I will not take any of his descendants to be rulers over

the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

For I will cause their captives to return, and will have mercy on them.’ ”
