Scripture does not say the serpent in revelation 12 is Satan.

But what it does say is the serpent can't reach the woman in the wilderness.

 

Revelation up on 12:14

But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent.

 

From scripture we know Satan can go into the he wilderness.But this serpent is not in the wilderness.The woman is out of his reach in the wilderness.

It's like king Herod who tried to kill the child soon as he was born.He had no authority outside his domain.

Satan/Devil is referred to as a/the serpent at Revelation 12:9.  Compare 2 Corinthians 11:3; Revelation 20:2.
