The context is trying to assist a fellow believer: 3 And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your own eye? 5 Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye. Paul expects us to put our own perfection first, but also to seek to assist others at the appropriate time. 2 Corinthians 10: 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. Once Paul came to the knowledge of the truth, his Rabbinic expertise was applied to correct doctrine. For Christ to be the Corner Stone, prayers and intercessions are the essential ingredient. John 15: 7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.
