Psalm 59:5 You therefore, O Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel,
Awake to punish all the nations;
Do not be merciful to any wicked transgressors. Selah

Who are these wicked transgressors?

Psalm 50:16 But to the wicked God says:
What right have you to declare My statutes,
Or take My covenant in your mouth
,
17 Seeing you hate instruction
And cast My words behind you?

Psalm 36:

1 The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart:

that there is no fear of God before his eyes.

2 For he flatters himself in his own eyes,

until his iniquity be found to be hateful.

Psalm 107:17 Fools because of their transgression,

and because of their iniquities, are afflicted.

I have often read responses to postings from the Psalms

and from Hebrews that these scriptures pertain only to

those under Covenant of Law. This error is perpetuated by

a poor understanding of the root from which the New Covenant

brings forth branches and fruit, as is referred to as "the sure mercies of David".

This is not Law of Moses, this is promise, fulfilled in Christ.

2 Samuel 7:

 8 Now therefore, thus shall you say to My servant David,

‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: “ took you from the sheepfold,

from following the sheep, to be ruler over My people, over Israel.

9 And I have been with you wherever you have gone, and have

cut off all your enemies from before you, and have made you

a great name, like the name of the great men who are on the earth.

10 Moreover I will appoint a place for My people Israel, and will plant them,

that they may dwell in a place of their own and move no more;

nor shall the sons of wickedness oppress them anymore, as previously,

11 since the time that I commanded judges to be over My people Israel,

and have caused you to rest from all your enemies.

Also the Lord tells you that He will make you a house.

12 When your days are fulfilled and you rest with your fathers,

I will set up your seed after you, who will come from your body,

and I will establish his kingdom.

13 He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish

the throne of his kingdom forever.

14 I will be his Father, and he shall be My son. If he commits iniquity,

I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the]blows of the sons of men.

15 But My mercy shall not depart from him, as I took it from Saul,

whom I removed from before you.

16 And your house and your kingdom shall be established forever before you.

Your throne shall be established forever.

17 According to all these words and according to all this vision,

so Nathan spoke to David.

Preached by Paul, the apostle to the Nations

Acts 13:

32 And we declare to you glad tidings—that promise

which was made to the fathers.

33 God has fulfilled this for us their children,

in that He has raised up Jesus.

As it is also written in the second Psalm:

You are My Son,
Today I have begotten You.

34 And that He raised Him from the dead,

no more to return to corruption, He has spoken thus:

I will give you the sure mercies of David.’

As declared to the Nations, by the prophet to the Nations.

Isaiah 55:

3 Incline your ear, and come to Me.
Hear, and your soul shall live;
And I will make an everlasting covenant with you—
The sure mercies of David.
4 Indeed I have given him as a witness to the people,
A leader and commander for the people.
5 Surely you shall call a nation you do not know,
And nations who do not know you shall run to you,
Because of the Lord your God,
And the Holy One of Israel;
For He has glorified you.

Any Theology That Does Not Teach and Preach

This Covenant of Promise Is Declared By The Word

Of God To Be A Wicked Transgression.

These passages from Psalms and Hebrews are a direct

reference to this promise received by David at the hand

of the prophet Nathan.

A Faithful Witness

Psalm 89:

19 Then You spoke in a vision to Your holy one,
And said: “I have given help to one who is mighty;
I have exalted one chosen from the people.
20 I have found My servant David;
With My holy oil I have anointed him,
21 With whom My hand shall be established;

Also My arm shall strengthen him.
22 The enemy shall not outwit him,
Nor the son of wickedness afflict him.
23 I will beat down his foes before his face,
And plague those who hate him.

24 But My faithfulness and My mercy shall be with him,
And in My name his horn shall be exalted.
25 Also I will set his hand over the sea,
And his right hand over the rivers.
26 He shall cry to Me, You are my Father,
My God, and the rock of my salvation.
27 Also I will make him My firstborn,
The highest of the kings of the earth.
28 My mercy I will keep for him forever,
And My covenant shall stand firm with him.
29 His seed also I will make to endure forever,
And his throne as the days of heaven.

30 If his sons forsake My law
And do not walk in My judgments,
31 If they break My statutes
And do not keep My commandments,
32 Then I will punish their transgression with the rod,
And their iniquity with stripes.
33 Nevertheless My lovingkindness I will not utterly take from him,
Nor allow My faithfulness to fail.
34 My covenant I will not break,
Nor alter the word that has gone out of My lips.
35 Once I have sworn by My holiness;
I will not lie to David:
36 His seed shall endure forever,
And his throne as the sun before Me;
37 It shall be established forever like the moon,
Even like the faithful witness in the sky. Selah

The Discipline of God

Hebrews 12:

3 For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself,

lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.

4 You have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin.

5 And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons:

My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord,
Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him;
6 For whom the Lord loves He chastens,
And scourges every son whom He receives.

7 If you endure chastening,

God deals with you as with sons;

for what son is there whom

a father does not chasten?

8 But if you are without chastening,

of which all have become partakers,

then you are illegitimate and not sons.

9 Furthermore, we have had human fathers who corrected us,

and we paid them respect. Shall we not much more readily be

in subjection to the Father of spirits and live?

10 For they indeed for a few days chastened us as seemed best to them,

but He for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness.

11 Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful;

nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness

to those who have been trained by it.

Psalm 32:

1 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven,
Whose sin is covered.
2 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity,
And in whose spirit there is no deceit.

3 When I kept silent, my bones grew old
Through my groaning all the day long.
4 For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me;
My vitality was turned into the drought of summer. Selah
5 I acknowledged my sin to You,
And my iniquity I have not hidden.
I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,”
And You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah

6 For this cause everyone who is godly shall pray to You
In a time when You may be found;

Surely in a flood of great waters
They shall not come near him.
7 You are my hiding place;
You shall preserve me from trouble;
You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah

8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will guide you with My eye.
9 Do not be like the horse or like the mule,
Which have no understanding,
Which must be harnessed with bit and bridle,
Else they will not come near you.

10 Many sorrows shall be to the wicked;
But he who trusts in the Lord, mercy shall surround him.

11 Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, you righteous;
And shout for joy, all you upright in heart!

Unfaithful with the Word of Truth

Proverbs 2:21 For the upright will dwell in the land,
And the blameless will remain in it;
22 But the wicked will be cut off from the earth,
And the unfaithful will be uprooted from it.

The Work of the Unfaithful is Iniquity

Isaiah 13:11 I will punish the world for its evil,
And the wicked for their iniquity;
I will halt the arrogance of the proud
,
And will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.

The Harvest of Iniquity

Matthew 13:41 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom

all things that offend, and them which do iniquity.

Matthew 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Psalm 19:

12 Who can understand his errors?
Cleanse me from secret faults.
13 Keep back Your servant also from presumptions;
Let them not have dominion over me.
Then I shall be blameless,
And I shall be innocent of great transgression.

14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
Be acceptable in Your sight,
O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.
