We will be more effective at reaching atheists, Mormons, etc. if we understand them and adapt our approach to their unique situation. For example, we have to demonstrate the existence of God and answer questions like the problem of evil for atheists. Mormons need to understand the attributes of God: He is monotheistic, not polytheistic. J.W.s need to understand the Deity of Christ and personality of the Spirit. Then the Trinity will follow. Greetings in Christ! AMEN!! Christians tend to forget that not every Christian knows everything that they know. We need to be told so we can learn. Yes, I agree that leaning upon the Holy Spirit is must. People of different religions/cults have questions to tear down YOUR beliefs as well....Christians need to be ready and have at least a genereal understanding to counter those questions and to point out the Truth. Well while you are busy teaching the mormons the attributes of God:he is monotheistic, not polytheistic, and teaching thej.ws to understand the Deity of Christ and personality of the Spirit . Then the Trinity will follow. I still think your time would be better employed by, instead a chasing after a bunch of people that have made it clear that they are right and we are wrong, by seeking those that have never even heard the gospel. Not the ones who have twisted the gospel to suit their own beliefs. You know have you spoken to your next door neighbour, the checkout girl at the grocery, your kid's teachers, or the guy that pumps your gas or your pharmacist? Plenty of lost souls out there (unpolluted by false doctrine) who are in need of salvation. If you wish to teach any of these cults the error of their ways, go and preach to them on their home turf. This a christian message board with lots of baby christians just coming off their milk. Why put another stumbling block in front of them, when we know they are going to meet with enough opposition, away from this board, without the protection of some of the senior saints who post on this board. Please understand I'm not hassling your faith or beliefs as you are brothers or sisters in Christ and I know your love for Him. it's that I dont think it appropiate to discuss the whys and wherefores of cultish people on this board. Have a blessed day in the lord eric

We are called to be a light to the World, not just some of the World...plenty of anoymous people view these boards...do you think they are all saved...some are looking for answers...including those who you seem to think are not worth any time...for the sake of no longer "reading into..or putting words into posts" I will quote you... "I still think your time would be better employed by, instead a chasing after a bunch of people that have made it clear that they are right and we are wrong, by seeking those that have never even heard the gospel. You see before I was saved I was into buddhism and shamanism..and mixed and matched stuff...I am glad I met a Christian who kept on being persitent in witnessing to me and showing me Gods Truth compared to the junk I was messed up in....He let the Holy Spirit guide him...the Word speak...but he also had some knowledge about some of the stuff I was into...so he knew how to pray for me...but I was one of those we should not bother with.. Abortion, Jews, cults, atheists, businessmen, campus ministry, etc. etc. are targets with parachurch organizations rising to meet the challenge where the church has not. We need to reach our sphere of influence and also where our burden is as opportunity presents itself. My area of expertise and effectiveness may not be someone else's and vice versa. Counter-cult ministry is as valid as reaching students for Christ or standing against abortion.

Being into bhuddism and shamanism and mix and matched stuff is no worse in God's eyes than being into booze sex and drugs. So what's your point. Are we supposed to discuss the wrongs and rights of alchohol, pornograpy, sodomy and every other thing that unsaved do on worthy boards? I am not trying to harsh with you, brother/sister, just that I think you should try and get your priorities in order This argument is going nowhere so I'll leave you to your opinion and I will stick to mine. in Christ.....eric

He went after their false gods, and replaced it with the Living God. He adapted the message to their needs or heart condition. A rebellious punker (hard) has a different heart than the lonely senior dying of cancer (broken). Yes, both are lost. The former gets 'bad news' first (repent or die), while the latter gets 'good news' (He died for you and loves you. He can save and heal if you trust Him). Amen...I agree...the reason the cults and false religions and new age etc...are growing leaps and bounds is that "man" came up with a witnessing formula...and thinks it is universal..that it will unlock any heart...Jesus will...but I have heard testimony of people who simply shared testimony...do you think the man who is a cold hearted drug dealer cares about John 3:16...most likely not...scripture works..but it is not a silver bullet...and all the time in tracts..well most of the time...its the same scriptures....you know what verse rocked my boat...John 14:6...mostly though...the person God used to witness to me would have conversation with me...and stemming from my responses..or the topic brought up...the Holy Spirit would prompt him to ask questions that dealt with my SITUATIONS...he would say what the Word had to say about stuff to defend why he said what he said...but you know what...I really did not pay that alot of mind...so I am sure that their are others like me out there....so will you pound them with scripture or try using where they are at to introduce them to Christ...Blessings
