I wasn't sure which area to post this under but... I went to Bible Study tonight and here are some things I wanted to pass along.

"Don't have fire insurance faith, believing just enough to get into heaven. Have an active faith, believing in God for the impossible."

Read James 1

Three Kinds of Listeners

1. Slow to Hear

In one ear and out the other. Never act on what you've learned. Never challenged to do anything, you just hear a sermon and go home.

2. Selective Hearing

You hear everthing that convicts others of their sin, but never anything that convicts you of yours. Be careful that you don't become self-righteous.

You can also be subconsiously selective. You take the correction you like and leave the correction you don't.

3. Good Listeners - Listening for Truth

Hear what they don't want to hear

Hear things that challenge them...

Act on what they hear

Good listeners are awake, alert. Read about Cornelius in Acts 10:30-33 he's a good listener.

Other tidbits...

Information + Inspiration + Application = the Christian Walk

You hear the word, are inspired to recognize it as truth through the holy spirit and apply what you have learned to your life.

If you are missing any of the three it leads to frustration.

Question to ask yourself: How many scriptures are you quoting with your life?

Don't stop examining yourself, don't stop ridding yourself of the filth of sin when you LOOK alright. Cut sin off at the root. Then become a doer.

Don't just hear the word put it to work in your life.

I know only Ministry people are allowed to post bible studies but the one I had tonight really... helped me and I wanted to pass the highlights along!

Greetings Elihu's Girl,

I am not a "Ministry person", yet I have been posting on every area of this forum for a very long time. We are to share all good things that we receive with others, even with the "Ministry". So don't fear that you cannot post those things which are edifying to the body.

Thank you for your post. It was a good Bible Study.

Blessings,

Dad Ernie

ElihusGirl,

Bible studies under the right supervision is a must if we want to grow in the Lord, like the anology of the three stranded rope, and sharing your studies is good for the body.

Keep up your studies and God bless,

thanks for your input.

Thank you for your posts! I completely understand and agree with the restrictions on the Bible Study section I just wanted to clarify that I wasn't trying to bend the rules... :b:
