The specific word is not used but the intent of the word is there. Advent means coming and has three connotations in many church circles. 1. It does denote the coming of the Christ Child 2000 odd years ago 2. it denotes the daily coming of Christ into the lives of those who receive Christ in salvation 3. Is it mentioned in the Bible? Advent is the celebration of the coming of Christ. See the other post by darski on that. It is not mentioned in the bible. As such it is not commanded nor forbidden. No Christian has the right to make anyone observe it, nor does any Christian have the right to forbid it. Personally, I find it meaningful.
