Guest leejosepho
TJ: Trying to use a pagan practice for righteous purpose is foolishness! Why would one be passing out candy in the first place? Do you know the origin of "trick-or-treat"? Lee

Guest leejosepho
TJ: Whether or not people know the origins of pagan holidays is irrelevant: pagan practices are nevertheless still evil. There is simply no comparison whatsoever between having a timely meal with publicans and sinners for Scriptural reason and "playing along" with Halloween -- doing pagan things, which eating a meal is not -- for whatever purpose. Handing candy to a child on Halloween is no different than passing out drugs on the street ... in hopes for an opportunity to "church" somebody. It is sad you are offended by simple truth. Blessings! That's simply an outrageous statement. Â I think it's a great idea to give out tracts, ect.. with the candy you give out on halloween. Children who see a house closed and locked up on halloween do not get the idea that "wow a follower of Christ must live here". Â They see bad attitude. Use this opportunity to share the Word of God, this is not "satans day" but it is the day the Lord has made.

I don't think you can make a credible case that handing out candy to costumed children is a pagan practice.
Guest Jipsah
"Handing out candy at Haloween is no different than passing out drugs on the street"??? Hey, you start out with candy chicken corn and before you know it you have a $100 a day jones for Godiva chocolates, you weigh 400 pounds and all your teeth are rotted away. Children who see a house closed and locked up on halloween do not get the idea that "wow a follower of Christ must live here".

Guest harvester
Would all you who give out those tracts, go out the same day and give those tracts to the people in your neighborhood, going door to door handing out these tracts? Or is it just to easy to slip a tract in a bag hiding behind a hand full of candy? Not every parent will know which house the tract came from! why leave it till halloween, go deliver the tracts today, for today is the day of salvation!!
