So why not permit sacrosanct "civil rights" to trump the urgent need to stay alive? After saying what I did, I'm well prepared to have instituted every possible security measure on behalf of safety for myself & loved ones in this World War 3...or hasn't it started yet? If you've done nothing wrong, why knock the vital hassle? Come, take my picture, check my retinas and do a see-thru. Muslim mass-homicide bombers beware!

GOD BLESS AMERICA!

I just find it ironic that you say you would be willing to lose so many rights of yours while at the same time you say "God bless America" in the same statement. America is a democratic freedom-oriented country, and what you are advocating is a powerful intrusive central government, basically totalitarianism. War is no excuse to abandon our rights, if we sacrifice what we stood for in the first place in order to fight an enemy, the enemy has already won, because they have destroyed what we once had.

America, truth to relate - or aren't you aware of this - is in a crucial battle for its democratic & religious way of life. It brings me back to my earlier query: what good are "civil liberties" in the light of Muslim mass-homicide bombers? In our most emphatic opinion, the need is for a STRONG & VIGILANT America ON GUARD against this new type of "among us" war in which one's Muslim neighbor could very well be a terrorist. Bring on all the vital security measures (ala Israeli Defense Forces Security) required to thwart these enemies of peace, liberty & religious freedom. Take my picture, scan my retinas, do a see-thru or strip-search at the airport (gender specific), sniff my luggage, open my purchases, double-check my I.D. Purposeful Security in this time of war will always trump ACLU-types!

GOD BLESS AMERICA Where Vigilance Is Ever The Price For Liberty!

But by instituting more and more invasive forms of precautionary measures, we end up destroying the "peace, liberty & religious freedom" that we sought to protect in the first place. To protect airlines, we are introducing measures of protection that infringe upon our rights of privacy. People are ok with it. So what about other public transportation systems? Next let's have our public transportation system of trains and busses require these intrusive searches, in the name of "public safety". While we're at it, lets require all public buildings to have security outside of them, scanning people that enter the buildings. And how about private buildings? Lets put some armed guards in every block of houses, checking people that go in and out to make sure they are loyal citizens. Again, I personally don't have a problem with these new scanners because they give people the choice, but the ideology you are advocating alarms me a little. At what point do you draw the line, and say "enough is enough!" ?

I am all for America remaining vigilant, but I do not like the idea of America restricting our freedoms in exchange for a sense of security.

i recall a discussion on this practice a while back. ya'll should really pull up that other thread and read it, particularly kittyjo's responses about her first-hand experience. besides, she also gives some pretty solid suggestions about what NOT to wear if you might be going through one of thoose scanners.

Stay off aircraft OR come to realize we're in World War 3! Better see-thru scanning than death by Muslim mass-homicide bombers, right?

GOD BLESS THE USA!

http://arthurdurnan.freeyellow.com

Again, see-thru scanning in the interests of passenger safety will ALWAYS trump "civil rights." The latter is only for the living and means absolutely ZIP when you're murdered by a Muslim mass-homicide bomber. World War 3 DEMANDS the utmost in security.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!

I guess we've heard your view on the subject, you'd capitulate all the way because you have been tricked into believing that "WW III" is in existance or because of some phoney "war on terror".

Personally I'd rather die fighting than live under all these "security measures" and live as a SLAVE!

Would life really be worth living if you had to "comply" with every daft idea that bureaucrats come out with that has the ONLY effect of curtailing you liberty, treating you like a piece of meat and x-raying you or poking you? What will life be like if you have to submit to having your digital image stored on a government file, to be used "willy nilly" so some idiot bureaucrat can "check you against the criminal database" to see if you have "broken the law", if you have to submit samples of your DNA to bureaucrats (thereby not only compromising your privacy but that of any members of your family) for the same reason, or if you have to carry an id card marking you as a slave to the state?

If you truly believe "If you've done nothing wrong, why knock the vital hassle? Come, take my picture, check my retinas and do a see-thru", then consider what you are going to do when the antichrist rules, and the government IS the antichrist, and ALL CHRISTIANS will be considered to have "done something wrong" It won't be any "Muslim mass-homicide bombers" who will beware!

And consider what air travel will be like WHEN this "machine" is used COMPULSORILY and everybody has to submit to this humiliating procedure before they board an aircraft.

No, I believe that Patrick Henry didn't say, in his speech to drum up support for the American revolution, in 1775, give me liberty or give me death, for nothing.

It is about time we had a resurgence of this attitude.

Matt. 13:22 Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.

Don't look Ethel

Security Scanner Can See Through Clothes

By TERRY TANG

Associated Press Writer

PHOENIX (AP) - The Phoenix airport on Friday became the first in the United States to test new X-ray technology that can see through people's clothes and show the body's contours with blush-inducing clarity.

Critics have said the high-resolution images created by the ``backscatter'' technology are too invasive. But the Transportation Security Administration adjusted the equipment to make the image look something like a line drawing, while still detecting concealed weapons.

During the testing, the machine will be used only as a backup screening measure. Passengers who fail the standard screening with a metal detector will be able to choose between the new device or a pat-down search.

``It's 100 percent voluntary, so if the passenger doesn't feel comfortable with it, the passenger doesn't have to go through it,'' TSA spokesman Nico Melendez said.

Passengers selected for screening by the device are asked to stand in front of the closet-size X-ray unit with the palms of their hands facing out. Then they must turn around for a second screening from behind. The procedure takes about a minute.

``It seems faster. I'm not uncomfortable with it,'' said Kelsi Dunbar, 25, of Seattle, who chose the machine. ``I trust TSA, and I trust that they are definitely trying to make things go quickly and smoothly in the airport.

But one expert said the machine's altered image is ineffective, while the clear picture is an invasion of privacy.

``The more obscure they make the image, the more obscure the contraband, weapons and explosives,'' said Barry Steinhardt, director of the Technology and Liberty Project at the ACLU in Washington, D.C. ``The graphic image is a strip-search. You shouldn't have to be strip-searched to get on an airplane. Millions of Americans would regard them as pornographic.''

The machine will be tested for up to 90 days at a single checkpoint at Sky Harbor International Airport's largest terminal, which hosts US Airways and Southwest Airlines, the two busiest airlines in Phoenix.

The technology could be left in place after the trial period, and the TSA hopes to roll out similar machines at the Los Angeles airport and New York's Kennedy Airport by the end of the year.

The security officer who works with the passenger going through the screening will never see the images the machine produces. The pictures will be viewed by another officer about 50 feet away who will not see the passenger, the TSA said.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Just a few comments:

"

``It's 100 percent voluntary, so if the passenger doesn't feel comfortable with it, the passenger doesn't have to go through it,'' TSA spokesman Nico Melendez said"

Sure, voluntary: "Passengers who fail the standard screening with a metal detector will be able to choose between the new device or a pat-down search."

What kind of a choice is that to give someone??

And: ``The more obscure they make the image, the more obscure the contraband, weapons and explosives,'' said Barry Steinhardt, director of the Technology and Liberty Project at the ACLU in Washington, D.C. ``The graphic image is a strip-search. You shouldn't have to be strip-searched to get on an airplane. Millions of Americans would regard them as pornographic.''

So how long do you suppose it will remain that " the Transportation Security Administration adjusted the equipment to make the image look something like a line drawing".

Seriously I am wondering how long it will be before every traveller is required to go through this "scanner" as a matter of course.

Greeings buck,

Tell me, what would you do if you though your family might be in danger of flying, and you had to make this decision and you knew that the government new Procedure was more accurate even though more evasive? Would you prefer to risk 50% safety or 90% safety?

On a more serious note, it appears some people are more concerned about having their precious civil rights being investigated than they are about a few million of their fellow citizens being nuked.

If I was an american citizen and I was acting suspiciouslly and I wasn't dragged down town and given a thorough going over. I would go to city hall and cmplain about the dereliction of duty by the security forces.

I have lived in a small laid back country all my life. I own a motor car which is licensed in my name, my name is on the electral roll. my digital picture on my driver's license. I own a tv, a computer. The authorities have my ex service number, my phone number, my birth certificate, my marriage license number my residential address, my bank and financial circumstances, my dental records and medical records, my finger prints. They know when I write a cheque or use my eftpos, where I buy my gas and when I had my car serviced last. Every time I sign an official document it is recorded. And do you know what, there's nothing I can't enjoy out of life today that I'v always enjoyed.......well as much as my age will allow.

So bring on your x-ray pics and your id cards........ there's nothing about me that's not already known, except for the relationship I have with the Father......only He knows that and they can't threaten Him.
