I would say the teachings are strong enough about the spirit residing within us, that the forbidding of suicidal tendancies do not need to be mentioned. I doubt that anyone who has the Spirit would even consider suicide. The Spirit of God is not one of torment but of peace and comfort. The Bible was "inspired" by the Word of God(Spirit filled), so why would any of the people who've ever written their story there have ever said things "requesting for himself that he might die"? You're saying Elijah was not really walking in the Spirit. Also, when you walk with God in the Spirit, you think the thoughts God is thinking(or how would you ever be able to say, "this is what the Lord God has said"?).
