Another thought:

You say you're a good person, and don't need church?

Fine. That's all the more reason to be there for me and the rest of us mere mortals. Let some of that righteousness rub off on me. If you're really as "good" as you claim to be, then you'll naturally want to spread it around...yes?

Otherwise, you're not really righteous. Just self-righteous.

Good Works will not get us into Heaven. Jesus Christ is the ONLY way to salvation and Heaven.

I've noticed that many people who are basing their works on their status with the Lord, usually tend to do their good works in "their own name" anyway. In other words, they are always referred to by somebody else, "as such a good person", yet there is never any mention or glory given to God in their "good works".

I have a brother whom everybody loves and says he is the sweetest man, and he is! The thing I've noticed though is that he bases his good works on what a good man he is himself, rather than giving glory to God in the things he does. God never gets the credit, but my brother does, he's always referred to as such a good man.

Just some observations I've had.

Are we doing things to give God the glory? .............or ourselves?

In His Love,

Suzanne

I think you have got "the wrong end of the stick"

The comment "I am a good person" was made by the same person I wrote of in

my opening post. Like many others, we have close family and friends who are

just not interested. we can only witness.

But I did not say I was any better than anyone else !

Glory,

I wasn't making that comment about any specific person, you or anyone else. Just a general comment regarding the "good person" theory.

We're not supposed to be in this for ourselves. If a person is so truly righteous so as not to "need" the fellowship of a Christian congregation, then he should be there to edify everyone else.

I would suggest to all posters that you go to MSN.com opening page scroll down to the place in the center collumn where the 4 wounded Vets from Iraq tell their story before you make any decisions about who or what you will vote for in this election. The news media haven't got the guts to put these testimonies on their programs, because they don't want The Truth getting out their before the polls open.
