Electing leaders that will control major decisions in America for four years gets the attention of two world, the physical and spiritual. In the physical world, there are constant debates, arguments, lies being told about candidates, and a major atmosphere of contention. Elections cause temporary divisions among churches, since certain groups might vote one way and other groups in the church vote another way. It can also cause division in families. the atmosphere is tense in the latter part of the year, filled with strife and confusion. This literally impacts the atmosphere at home and work. From a spiritual perspective, the kingdom of God and kingdom of darkness are focused on the people who could potentially come to power. It is easy to say that whoever God wants is who we get. But this is not always the case, unless Christians pray and get involved with voting. For example, Israel wanted to imitate the other nations and have a king to rule over them. God told them it was not the right decision, but He gave them what they wanted, so they got King Saul. The Hebrews got what they wanted, but didn't like what they got! Saul eventually walked in sin and disobedience, lost his anointing, and attempted to kill the next king (David) before he could ascend to the throne. Of course Saul was the people's choice and David was later God's choice. Prior to the election of 2000, I taught that people can miss God's will when voting. Moses sent twelve spies into the Promised Land to scope out the territory. Al twelve returned, but two saw the grapes and ten saw the giants. The "giant mentality" unbelievers had more influence, and the Hebrews voted no to go in. They all walked around in circles for 40 years. Even in the early church, Peter voted in a new bishop to replace Judas. The man chosen, Matthias, was never heard from again. Some time later, Paul was converted and, I believe, would have been God's choice to replace Judas. Unless people have the mind of God when voting, they can get out of God's will. Angelic Battles in the Heavens In Daniel 10, the prophet from Babylon was praying and fasting for 21 days, and the answers to his prayers were being blocked by a strange demonic spirit called the Prince of the Kingdom of Persia. At the time of this atmospheric struggle between and angel of God and the evil principality, there had been a major shifting in the political power ruling Babylon. The kingdom of the Babylonians had been overtaken by the kingdom of the Persians. God predicted this exchange of governments prior to it occurring, but apparently a Satanic spirit had been assigned to prevent the fulfillment of God's plans for that region of the world. God's messenger won the battle, but only after Daniel broke through with prayer and fasting. During election year warfare, we must intensify our seasons of prayer and fasting. There will be much activity because America is in it's most important cycle since its inception as a nation (400 years from 1607-1608 to 2007-2008). As I have said for years, this cycle is linked to change and transition. Consider the following: - The dollar is at an all-time law against other world currencies. - There is a mortgage crisis. - Oil is at a record high. - Several Middle Eastern oil producers are asking for euros instead of dollars for oil. - The U.S. election has the first black candidate, the first woman and the first POW running for President. - The main theme of the election is change. - Countries outside of America no longer need us as they once did. - Europeans are saying the magic of America has been lost. - The American church is headed to a backslidden condition as ministers live in sin. On the other hand, good things will also happen: - There is a remnant of believers who are truly on fire for the Lord. - A strong outpouring of the Spirit is coming upon hungry young people. - Greater prophetic revelation is being released. - America still has the highest per capita income than most nations. - God has promised to provide for His people through good and difficult times. There is a clash between two kingdoms occurring at this time. We are instructed to "Stand in the evil day" (Ephesians 6:13). There are seasons of war and seasons of rest. We are currently in a season of atmospheric spiritual war. It is time to stand strong. The article came from his magazine. We truly need to make the effort to pray more . . . I mean, what if we posted prayers in the political threads rather than beating each other over the head?
