Nations like Iran do as they will because the world as a whole is unwilling to risk even the slightest disruptions in oil production. Like drug dealers and pimps they manipulate and abuse their "customers" confident that they will cower and snivel just to get their fix. It's this confidence that causes Iran to bully its neigbors and thumb its nose at the rest of the world. As long as the world is in a position to BE manipulated then it will be. I trust that new technologies and new fuels will begin emerging and be given the attention they deserve but in the meantime the drug dealing pimps are becomming more obnoxious than ever.
