7+ Steps to testing a doctrine:
1) Gather and integrate all Scriptures that appear to support it.
2) Gather all Scriptures that appear to contradict it.
3) Remove any parts of the doctrine that cannot truthfully respond to #2’s Scriptures. Be honest: avoid using vague or dubious count
