The Forming of the Body of Christ. Paul released.

Paul Released and goes to Macedonia. (AD 62)

After two years the Apostle Paul is acquitted and released from prison. It is then that many think that Paul wrote to the Hebrew Christians. This is an important book as it not only writes of the supremacy of Christ, but also of the different inheritances of the Old Testament saints and those in the Body of Christ.

Supremacy of Christ. (Hebrews)

Christ is better than angels, for they worship Him, He is better than Moses, for He created him. He is better than the Aaronic priesthood, for His sacrifice was once for all time. He is better than the law, for He mediates a better covenant.

`God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in times past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom He made the worlds;

who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when he had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.` (Heb. 1: 1 - 3)

The massive grandeur of Christ is featured more completely in Hebrews than any other book gone before. Paul describes a personality that precedes time, controls the governing forces of history and one whose exploits continue on into eternity.

The Different Inheritances.

Paul writes of the Old Testament saints, the `just men, (& women)` who looked for the promise of a city in the heavenlies, for they realised they were just pilgrims on this earth. This city has foundation and its builder is God.  (Heb. 11: 10)

`now they desire a better, that is a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.` (Heb. 11: 16)

Then there is the Body of Christ`s inheritance. Theirs is of a greater dominion.

`God having provided something better for us, (Body of Christ), that they, (Old Testament saints) should not be made perfect apart from us.` (Heb. 11: 40)

The `something better,` in Greek is a `greater dominion.` Thus the Body of Christ will be in their ruling place with Christ in the highest heaven, (Eph. 20 - 23) while in their time the Old Testament saints will go to the city which will reside in the Universal heavens.

The Old Testament saints were promised the city.

The Body of Christ are promised the throne in the highest heaven, with Christ.

Hebrews is as you say a more thorough detail of Christ's attributes. a lot of people struggle with Hebrews as they say it doesnt jive with Paul's epistles, ( if indeed he did write Hebrews and its looking fairly likely that he did). Paul was writing to Hebrews, hint Hebrews are Jews, but it also has very important doctrine in it for Christians, predominately the Blood atonement, Paul goes into detail here in Hebrews but not so evident  in his epistles.

it is the Blood Atonement, that Paul talks about in Hebrews, the expanded version of WHAT Christ did for you and me on the cross. our Sin is paid for in full with the Blood of Christ. this is called the Blood Stained gospel.

The Body of Christ are promised the throne in the highest heaven, with Christ.

that is clear enough!

The ascension of Christ is extremely important because it signifies our position in His glorified body at the right hand of God the Father.

Wow Cntrysner,

You are a ray of sunshine. We, mabel and I so appreciate your answer. It gives us encouragement that there are other believers who are coming to the whole counsel of God.

regards, Marilyn.
