This is an expansion of the question I touched on above about error that creeps into a sermon from time to time. None of us perfectly understands God, the Bible, our redemption, grace

You want a subtle way to show the RESURECTION? Show the stone being rolled shut on JESUS

I don't mind if mock me or think I am off my rocker. My regret is that I can not make a better case and everyone could see what this film really is about. baggage? My baggage is a PASSION for the word of God and I can't stand it being added to and taken away from as this movie does. SLEEP ON, if you must. Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

A Google search of "speed of light slowing" brings back numerous articles. One I had referred to is the one from Khouse.org. It gives details of measurements over the last several hundred years that indicate that light has been slowing down over time. The implications of that, as you say are unimaginable.

Artistically done? The last glimpse of the one eyed jesus in this movie is his naked butt. If that is not an insult and an offense to every Christian on this planet I don't know what else it could be. OR even how else more insult could be added. Would any of you end a movie about our LORD with a picture of his naked butt?

This also is from another message board: Did you also notice the religiousness (is that a word?) of the two Marys when they cleaned up Christ

I will start out by saying I do have a bright side, maybe not as bright as some of you but I do not

No. I think the movie was mocking True Christianity in very subtle but powerful ways. By all normal standards this was the worst movie ever made. There is no plot to the movie, no story development in anyway. No character development. You watch the movie with what ever pre-knowledge you have about the situation. Much of the movie is taken up in 'R' rated violence. AND there is lots of footage showing mary doing nothing but empathizing with jesus in the Catholic tradition as co-redeemer. (At the cross she even cries out "I want to (or let me) die with you". In spite of how bad it is, because of all the media attention and praise from big gun Christian leaders it has become a major box office hit. At the fourth station jesus said to mary, SEE MOTHER, I MAKE ALL THINGS NEW. I think an unbeliever would see that and say "oh ya, 2000 years later, things are new alright." And the BUTT naked man walking out of the tomb with a smirky grin was like an arnold (I'll be back) s. movie. I thought the scene was saying jesus is coming back and boy is he mad. I think the movie is setting the stage for people to welcome the anti-christ. Leaven, leaven everywhere and not a crumb to eat.

This is from another message board which was taken from another message board. I was looking at some of this myself last night and it is pretty accurate to what I was finding. I'm glad to see someone is having some qualms about The Passion of Christ. I saw the PAX special on the making of The Passion ,and several things did not set right with me, i.e. Satan in the Garden of Gethsemane (which did not happen, quite the contrary; God sent an angel to minister to Jesus). Also the strong Catholic influence. So I have been doing a little digging and it's not pretty. Mel Gibson used several sources to make the movie. 1) Diaries of St. Anne Catherine Emmerich (1774-1824)a "patron saint" of the Catholic Church who had "visions of Christ's death and Satan (that's where the part about Satan in the movie was adapted). Emmerich was a German Catholic nun, mystic, and a stigmatist ( she claimed to carry around Christ's wounds in her hands and feet) The movie was primarily based on her book, "The Dolorous Passion of Our Lord Jeseus Christ" 2) "The Mystical City of God" by St. Mary Agreda (mystical city given to denote "The blessed virgin Mary")(also the "sacred heart") 3) The New Testament Gospel accounts ( Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) Also during my research, I did a little checking on some of the cast members of The Passion (I'm not finished yet) This is the startling information that I have found so far. Monica Bellucci (Mary Magdalene) played a topless vampire in Bran Stoke's "Dracula" in 2000, she has also played in the Matrix series (very vile) Other information about Monica include nude pictures on the internet (which I couldn't get due to the block on my server) Rosalinda Celentano (Satan) played in an Italian Movie entitled: Poco piu' di un annofa (2003) in english it is called "Tale of a gay porn star", aka as "Diary of a male porn star" Claudia Gerini (Claudia) played in a movie "Don't Move" (non ti muovere) which is pornographic. She also played a lesbian rock star in the movie La Vespa E La Regina (2000) Why has no shepherd of the flock of Jesus Christ done any research on The Passion and it's cast members? Has Satan come as an angel of light to blind the masses? Can Catholicism and Christianity mix? Yes, some may come to the knowledge of Christ in spite of the overt Catholic theme, and the porno stars. However, knowning what I know now, there is no way I will be participating.

Here is an interesting little bit about this movie. Everyone noticed that

I don't either, but I think it is important for people to understand what the Bible does and does NOT say. I am quite sure that if we were to sit down with that film and pair of scissors and cut out everything that was not scriptural, what was left would not be much of a film. Someone on another board suggested that that was the Serpent

The last line in the book IN SIX DAYS I read was "God created things to show that they were created, so we would worship HIM and not the creation."

Please let's have no attacks. The only thing to conclude here is that there are major doctrinal differences. They are important to the LORD of us who is the author and finisher of our faith. He praised the Church of Ephesus in Rev 2:6 for sharing with Him a hatred for a false doctrine. Rev 2:6 But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. My opinion is that the body of Christ is under very subtle attacks to embrace a Rick Warren style consensus driven ecumenicalism that would teach us that doctrine doesn't matter and it is a wearisome thing to keep defending. No one can say they love Jesus if they do not love the TRUTH which HE taught.

Don't confuse opposition to false doctrine with hate. They are in no way the same thing.

When I watched the movie, I was not trying to feel Jesus' physical pain. He did what He did so I would not have to do that. I do not have to rend my heart because of what He did. It is history. It is finished. By faith in HIS BLOOD, my heart is clean and forever will be. I will never forget the cross but I don't live there. I don't have to have my face rubbed in it like the movie did. To me the movie is crucifing to the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. (Hebrews 6:6)

I did get out of the movie what I was looking for. I was looking for the real message that was written into it, not something I wanted to make out of it. I do the same thing with the BIBLE. I look for the message that was written into it. The message of the movie did not line up with the message of the BIBLE. AS for bias against Catholicism, think reformation and inquisition.

While I had no intention of seeing the movie, as the Lord caused things to turn out, it was almost a necessity for me to see it today. I would never have anticipated that to happen. My wife is active with a homeless shelter and had offered to drive some of the guests to the next town where someone had donated tickets for them to see it. At first there were six of them that were going but only one man actually showed up. We agreed that it was not a good idea for her to drive one guy over and back alone, so I went with her. Amazing isn

Mel Gibson said in an interview that this book was part of his inspiration to write the script for the movie. See page 100 and compare it to the above quote from the Satan figure in the garden: But Satan, who was enthroned amid all these horrors, and even filled with diabolical joy at the sight of them, let loose his fury against Jesus, and displayed before the eyes of his soul increasingly awful visions, at the same time addressing his adorable humanity in words such as these:

How did she get the name "Therese of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face"? Following the biblical tradition, when people entered religious life, they took a new name to signify their new call from God. When she entered the Carmelite Monastery to give her life to God, Marie Francoise Therese Martin took the religious name "Therese of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face." Therese had great devotion to the Infant Jesus, and her spirituality was a childlike simplicity and trust in God's love. In Lisieux, the Carmelite Monastery had a great devotion to the suffering Holy Face of Jesus that was reflected on the veil of Veronica. This included an outdoor shrine in the cloister garden. Because Therese was constantly looking to see the hidden Holy Face of Jesus in everyone and everything, Therese took that second part of her religious name. She explained: "I desire that, like the Face of Jesus, my face be truly hidden that no one on earth would know me. I thirsted after suffering and I longed to be forgotten." Her religious name, Sr. Therese of the Child Jesus and Holy Face, therefore came to signify what she was about and how God's grace was working in her.
