  1. Does anyone in the bible reflect Jesus more than Joseph. If I remember correctly it's very hard to find where he actually sinned in the bible. Reading about Joseph helps me realize that we can overcome sin. If only like Joseph I never sinned. He was tempted to the utmost by Potiphar's wife, but he didn't sin. Jesus was tempted to the utmost in the wilderness after his baptism, but He didn't sin. Not that I've committed adultery, but how nice it would be if I never ever did the things I now wish I never did . How nice to be cleansed and free from sin though! I don't believe anymore that I can overcome sin - I believe that Jesus overcame sin, and that Christ in me is able to overcome in me the sin in me. I also believe that the Spirit of Christ in me will produce the fruit of the Spirit in me - but it all depends on to what extent I yield to Him - that's where my problem has always been - not with His power and ability to transform me, but with the extent to which I yield to Him and allow Him to mould me and shape me. To overcome sin is to let Him overcome sin in us, I think. Please tell me if you think I'm wrong.
  2. Genesis chapter 37 to 45:2, and the book of Hebrews . Joseph's story is recorded in Gen.37-45: 2. Joseph is a biblical type of Jesus . After he was exalted from a position of condemnation to a position of exaltation, he took a Gentile bride. And Joseph later wept so loud when he was finally reconciled to his Israelite brethren , that all the Egyptians and the whole house of Pharaoh heard his loud sobs as he fell on the necks of his Israelite brothers. Egypt is a biblical type of the world, the house of Pharaoh is a biblical type of the kings and rulers of the world
  3. Oh, this is so sticky with sarcasm, but I have to touch it anyway. That was the "Pandora box" that Luther opened when he first made scripture available to the common man. The problem here is not the leading of the Holy Spirit. He will always teach the same from the first time He taught the Apostles to now. The problem lies with us truly hearing His words to us. The Holy Spirit speaks only what He hears from the Father. We, however, try to add to, subtract from and twist scripture to make it what it is not. This is why accountability is so important and a proper discipleship be followed. I agree. I think it's 'coz the Holy Spirit's guidance has to pass through the filter of (a) my human imagination; and (b) my preconceived beliefs and ideas, my previous understanding, and my prejudices (please LORD don't let me have any), etc, etc. Lots of gigabytes clogging up my brain that filters the pure guidance of the Holy Spirit. I NEED the teaching of theologically trained "others", as well as the input of other Christians.
