The whole bible old and new testimates are about following the voice of God. Read it again and check it out. Actually, the whole Bible is about the revelation of God and His nature versus the nature of man revealed through His relations with mankind. Artful dodge though and you didn't answer the question though. How do you delineate between the inner voice and the Holy Spirit and how do you delineate between the spirit in the Koran versus the Spirit of Truth? What's the measure? Peace, Dave Anyone who is following Love is following God.
-
Does this inner voice take precedence over the Word? When in conflict what takes precedence? Peace, Dave No the Word is the Inner Voice. please provide scripture that backs up that statement, if you can. One place is where it says God is love. Also in the old Testimate where the Jews are told to follow the voice of God. The entire bible is about following God. God is love. When we follow His voice we live in love.
-
so then the Bible is not the Word? is that what you are saying? The bible is the written Word but it cannot be understood by base men. It can only be understood and truly taught by the Word Himself.
-
That is easy, God is love. The voice of love is God. We all know but some surpress it. so what makes us certain that the voice we're hearing is "love"? your "easy answer" is not definitive at all. it's very subjective. it sounds like "if it feels good it's of God". heck, pedophiles think their inappropriate feelings for a child feel good. homosexuals think their sinful lust for another member of the same sex is the voice of love. teenage girls who give into their boyfriends think that the voice they're hearing is love. teenage boys who are obsessed with the cute little cheerleader think the voice they're hearing is love. the mistress who is sneaking to a hotel room with her married lover thinks that she's hearing the voice of love. so i ask you again. how do we know the inner voice we are hearing is of GOD? Don't surpress God. God is true love and we all know what that is. That is what one should listen to.
-
If your inner voice is your voice then you are not listening to God. Listen to God's voice and live.

Geroge Fox taught the truth of God. He taught that Jesus teaches us now and can teach us in our hearts. He taught that God must be first not man made religion. When God is put first the Holy Spirit teaches one what the bible says and what the truth is. The doctrine of George Fox is not of his own. It is the true doctrine of God as God is truth. George Fox pointed to God. God is the truth. Actually, he did not. He was very conflicted on the existence of the Trinity and did not preach about it. He also taught that rather than depending on the Bible, that his followers could follow their own "inner self". That is not Scriptural and certainly not what Jesus taught us. George Fox did not like the word Trinity as it was not used in the bible. He did however believe that Jesus is God, the Holy Spirit is God and God the Father is God. This is just his thing about the word Trinity. Instead of that word he used the word Godhead. This is his choice. No big deal. It all means the same thing the Father the Son and the Holy Ghost are all God. You do not understand about depending on the bible. The bible can say many things depending upon who is reading it. Thus to know what the bible says one must follow the Holy Ghost in reading the bible since the Holy Ghost wrote the bible. You are 100% incorrect about George Fox telling people to follow their own inner self. This is totally false. He taught to follow the "inner voice" of God. This inner voice of God is the one thing that all humans have. It is a commonality with us all as we are all created to be servants of the most high. George Fox pointed to Christ. Let us all go to Christ and live! Do you believe that the 66 books of the Bible are the divinely inspired Word of God and therefore infallible? Do you view the doctrine of Jesus' and the virgin birth as nonessential and not accepted as fact? Some Quakers do. George Fox saw himself as an apostle restoring the true church - do you believe that? Quaker Theologian Robert Barclay basically wrote the "Doctrine" (Loose as it is) for the Quaker religion - it was in his writings where he alluded to the fact that believers should follow their "inner self". I have many family that was raised as Quakers - I know many among the Friends and they are fine people. But they do not believe many of the things that other Christians take as gospel. All humans do not have an inner voice from God - it would be wonderful if they did - but sadly -all do not. "The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities

You are incorrect. Quakers view the bible as the word of God when read with the wisdom the of the Holy Ghost. (Please note I am talking of Orthodox Quakers in all of my replies. Liberal Quakers believe totally different. I am not talking about Liberal Quakers.) It is true too that Quakers see truth written in other books as well. The Holy Ghost guides to what is true and what is false. In my Quaker meeting house we have many books written by Catholics, Protestants, non-Christians etc. We even have a Koran. This does not mean that we follow the Koran. The Koran is there to be read understand how other faiths see things.

I am a Quaker. I believe that Jesus is God. He is my salvation. Is that the doctrine of the Quaker faith though? I always look to be corrected if I hold incorrect beliefs. I had thought that Quakers could hold any number of beliefs about Christ about Trinity and about the Holy Bible as the infallible Word of God? The ones I have known (which could indeed be a skewed sample), do not confess any of those things but are more into peace and meditation (which are good things), and believe that many paths lead to God. But I really do stand to be corrected and apologize if I was wrong. I would be interested in your take on those things, thanks. The original Quakers believed that Jesus is God and that we must serve Him by obeying God's voice in our hearts. The original Quakers believed the bible as long as it was interpreted through the Holy Ghost. In time however there was a big split. In the 1800's the Quakers split into two separate groups. One group became known as the Orthodox Quakers as they believe that Jesus is God. They other group became known as the Liberal Quakers as they do not believe that Jesus is God nor do they believe that the bible is true. The Quakers that you are meeting are Liberal Quakers. They do not agree with George Fox's view that Jesus is God. In Canada due to our small population the Liberal and Orthodox Quakers joined. Thus we are a mix. I am an Orthodox Quaker but many in my meeting house are Liberal Quakers. I do not agree with their views but that is fine they can believe what they want to believe. As for me I believe that Jesus is God and is thus the light of the world as George Fox taught. Grace to you, So your not bothered by the fact that some in your meeting house are hell bound sinners in need of Grace? Peace, Dave There are many hell bound sinners in every religious establishment. The Quakers are no different from any other. Do you endure their Doctrine to be Preached? ?? We are Quakers. We have no sermons as we learn from God direct. We do share however with each other our views. From here we all gain strength. I hear from everyone and learn from everyone however nobody pushes their views as we each must learn from the Lord. I enjoy very much being part of a Quaker meeting house. I believe it is similar to the early Christians.

so, you are totally sin free in your life? No but Christ is living in me and refining me. I am able to leave sin by serving Jesus in everyone I meet. This connection to Jesus is what lets us leave sin. We must make God King. We must put love first. What do you mean by "leave sin"? can you expound more please? do you believe that we as Christians can be totally without sin while on this world, in these bodies? We leave sin when we do the will of the Lord. We leave sin when we live our lives for love. Follow God in your heart and He will teach you how to leave sin. We are God's workmanship. He is making us perfect if we let Him. We are to strive for perfection and for the mark of the high calling which is in Christ Jesus. Are you judging other christians, it sounds like it. Even though they may say with words that they "sin" every day, they are just as saved as you are if they truly belong to God. God is refining and purifying them too. Perhaps they should just SAY, well I lost my temper today (isn't that a sin?) or got aggraveted with my kids (another SIN, lack of patience), and just call it ' I'm being perfected. The bible says all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. That includes George Fox. We are saved because we trusted in Jesus's death on the cross and became a new creature. We will never be without temptation to sin. But we have an advocate with the father for forgiveness. He is talking to christians in this verse. Any holiness I have is because of him. I have a long way to go. What you say here is correct. The problem that arrises sometimes is that people who call themselves Christian do not even try to obey the voice of the Lord. They just say I am saved and then live for themselves. Their is no effort on their part to obey the Lord and leave their sin. This is not the Christianity that Jesus brought to the earth. If you are of the fold of Jesus Christ and call him Lord, then you are my sister in Christ. I don't understand some of the choices in wording, but we'll all go to the same heaven. What do you not understand?
-
So you are saying that "obeying the inner voice" is what bring s salvation? Salvation is being in union with the God. We humans were created to be vessels of the Holy Ghost. Our salvation is becoming our true selves as servants of the Lord. Jesus dies for our sin so that this union is made possible. If one does not obey the voice of the Lord however thier is no union with God. If one's life is against the inner voice of God their is no salvation.

John 15 1 "1I am the true vine, and My Father is the 2vinedresser. 2 "Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away ; and every branch that bears fruit, He aprunes it so that it may bear more fruit. 3 "3You are already bclean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4 "4Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit cof itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. 5 "I am the vine, you are the branches ; he who abides in Me and I in him, he 5bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing . 6 "If anyone does not abide in Me, he is 6thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned. Exactly. Excellent bible verse

I think we should ease up a bit on this brother, here. It seems like everyone is jumping on him based on their perceptions of what "Quaker" means. He has as much right as anyone to follow his conscience and convictions. I haven't heard anything from him that alarms me as much as the replacement theology being openly proclaimed in many threads here. What is replacement theology?

But................. George Fox is not the focus of my Faith, Jesus Christ is. Whose Word takes precedence? Peace, Dave My Goodness!! I just added that so show that Geroge Fox taught to follow God. The focus of everyone's faith is Jesus. George Fox pointed to what the true Jesus is. We are not looking to George Fox we are looking to Jesus. George Fox is simply a man of the Protestant Reformation that pointed people to the Lord. Let us serve the Lord and live!

God's inner voice delivers from sin? I don't see that written in Scripture. I do, however, see that "the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin." LOL! Jesus blood does not clean if you are not obeying. The inner voice is God. The inner voice is Christ. Christ is not saving you if you are running away from Him.

However, at times during Ministry I find in me a motivation that is not of God. This does not negate the work that God is doing because He knows the heart of a man yet still desires to work through it. How do you explain this? Peace, Dave God is working through you in many things. There are however a few things that are not right. God's inner voice is showing you. He is actively refining you. It is good that you admit this. Obey God's inner voice as George Fox teaches and this inner voice (God) will deliver you from your sins.

How is that any different than the Christians that JCISGD was bashing in his opening post? Much of Christianity does not follow God's voice in their heart. Much of Christianity says Jesus is God but does not accept that God is love. Much of Christianity cannot understand that Jesus is in everyone to be served. They thus do not walk in the light and do not have the life within them. Jesus clearly said it is not those that call me Lord that enter the Kingdom of Heaven but those that do the will of my Father who is in heaven. Calling ourselves Christian means nothing if we do not follow the voice of God in our hearts. It is this inner voice that gives life and it is this inner voice that condemns.
