  1. So I have been talking with the husband.  It sounds that he is truly taking steps to try and restore the marriage and trust.  I have let him know it will be a LONG time if ever that she will trust him again like she used to.

As for the rest of the family, I have pretty much written them off.  It is hard for my wife because it is her side of the family.  But they continually make a doormat out of her.  Every time she stands up against them they try to turn it around on her. It seems to be the same thing they do with the niece.  I feel bad because my wife would like to have a relationship with her family but she continually gets hurt by them.

Sorry back on track here.  The husband has been telling me that he doesn't want to lose his wife.  He is trying to get back right with God.  Often wander why we don't see these things before hand.  And God always allows us to make a U turn and come back to Him.

The 70's called, they want their trainwreck argument back. smh

It's like going back in a time machine with your feeble arguments.  Have you updated your "Talk Origins" page in the last 40 years?

Could you be a little more rude and condescending in your next set of answers for all of us.

Kind of like here?  Missspelled?  SMH

Dr. Chuck Missler points out that the pre-deluge earth had at least twice the atmospheric pressure than it does today or pterodactyls could not fly.

    My point?

It was a different place then.

Gravity might have been affected but we don't know all the details for certain.

Like the upper vapor canopy (which Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune and Uranus have to his very day).

    Good point.

So if the earth is expanding though.  Wouldn't the tectonic plates be moving farther apart rather than closer together?

I could share with you in private messenger a url of the earth shrunk down to interlocking continents as they currently exist.

The premise is that the continents did not split and slide on a static globe but that the globe (earth) itself is expanding.

If the earth were that small though, wouldn't it affect our gravity and what not?

I would ask do you mean old earth or fully functioning earth?

For humans to exist, when you think about it, our progenitors could not have been infants (of any evolved kind ← just granting this premise for the sake of argument as I oppose macro-evolution). Or the intricate complexities of the eye, which could not have evolved over any amount of time. These things suggest if not prove the need for fully functioning prototypes.

And only an intelligent Designer/ Creator would know to do this.

So, could it be possible that what you perceive as old (earth) is rather fully functioning (earth)?

It could be..  But I believe the earth is much older than 6000 years.  I think the earth was fully functioning but not as we see it today.  Like how long did it take for the continents to drive apart.  Are the subcontinent of India to come to rest where it is today.  Or the fact that there was no day as we currently view it until like day 3.

And yet we have an "informed" media and education system hellbent on preaching old age evolution with bullying vigor.

See although I tend to lead towards old earth creation.  I DO NOT believe in evolution.

  7. Many young earth believers say that old earth thoughts only started around the 19th century.  I have read that people have been discussing this issue since the first century AD.  Justin Martyr, in fact, was one that had written papers on this issue.

  8. Thank you for your concerns and prayers.

Her parent's and family claim to be christian.  We even went to her mom's (my wifes sister) baptism.  But they definitely do not walk the walk.  I mean none of us are perfect but the way they have treated their kids.....

The niece is christian.  This ordeal has kind of renewed her faith.

Her husband has started to grow more as well.  I began emailing with him yesterday and he seems to be heading down the right path.  But he realizes that he may have caused too much pain.

I just don't understand the rest of the family.  The mom emailed my wife yesterday and wanted to tell her to basically not believe everything that the niece said.  That the story changes when you are trying to protect yourself and your husband.  I just honestly cannot understand how someone can be that way.   So frustrating.  I even had bad dreams about the whole situation last night.  UGH.

  9. Not sure if this should be posted here or in prayer requests but here it goes.  Kind of confusing so try to hang in there.

My wife's nieces husband (got that).  He had multiple affairs.  One being with the nieces step sister.  Another with the nieces (former) best friend.  And multiple others.  So he finally came clean about it and is going to an accountability group and has been meeting with other men etc.  I don't believe he is doing enough yet but that is something they are working on.

But anyhow, instead of supporting the daughter her parents, grandparents, etc. are making it about them.  The stepsister is getting married this month and the grandparents asked the niece what they she should say when people ask why she isn't there.  She said to tell them the truth.  They said oh we can't do that we will just say you are having some family issues.

The parents were having easter brunch at their house.  They told our niece that if she couldn't be civil to the stepsister than they would prefer that she wouldn't come.  The list of this type of stuff goes on and on.

So I am not sure how to support her.  I have thought about sending an email to the family with my thoughts and feelings but that may not be the best idea.

I told my wife this morning that I am truly at a loss of what to do. She is too.

I am who some may call a 'seeker' but have grown discouraged. Grew up in a religious household and now am in my late 20s.

Its easy to see the God exists. Creation makes that evident.

I feel like I know God. I've felt His presence. I don't know doctrinally who He is... the God of Abraham; Mohammed; or the Trinity.

I'm sure he is not 100% pleased with me and the way I live but I can only do so much in this skin. I have many ingrained desires and wants which, without supernatural help, I cannot overcome.

But I just cannot come to believe in Jesus (and I have tried for over 20 years). I cannot see him. And there is no evidence of him from what I can see except from history and what people call the New Testament which I have read over many times and yes it is very beautiful and thoughtfully written albeit by men. The message is very compelling but it stops there - at 'believe in me'.

So I raise this question, to help me understand, to those on this forum who say they know Jesus on a personal level - how do you believe in someone you cannot see?

How do you know that you know Jesus on a personal level and not the God of Abraham or some other?

Remember nature tells us there is a God, however I know of nothing that tells me there is a Jesus and He is alive today.... nothing.

How do you know who you are talking to when you pray is Jesus and not the God of Abraham or Mohammed?

    I think its called faith
