It's basically sedition. The imam has stated that he wants the US to be sharia compliant. Sharia law and the US Constitution are incompatible.

The First Amendment is more than just the right to freedom of religion. It's also a guarantee for free speech, free press, free association and the right to take our complaints to the government without fear of reprisal. There are other religions who have had some restrictions on what they can do based the safety and well being of society. Polygamy, animal sacrifice, child marriages, and other things are not allowed and are illegal. First Amendment - Religion and Expression Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

I watched part of it on U Stream and thought it was pretty good. I was impressed at how clean the grounds were after it was over. It was nice to see after all of the garbage that was left after the inauguration.

Condemnation isn't from God. There is a big difference between condemnation and conviction. If you weren't under conviction to go off the meds until you discussed it with this pastor then to me that is a red flag. Please, Please, Please don't just stop your meds. I don't know your diagnosis but have worked as a case manager for the severely mentally ill. Some medications can not be stopped abruptly. You could cause more damage to your brain if it's an organic issue going on. I wish you could see the Christian psychiatrist I worked for. He could put your mind at ease and help you understand that mental illnesses are indeed a physical issue. The advent of the MRI's, PET scans, CAT scans have proven that most mental illness are simply a brain disorder like diabetes is a pancreatic disorder. In fact one of the issues in helping those on my caseload stay med compliant was to help them see that diabetics have to do specific things like eat a healthy diet, exercise and take their meds in order to control the symptoms. Depending on your diagnosis you may can work with your doctor to eventually go off meds. Always remember, that Luke was a doctor and that taking medicine if you need it isn't wrong. Could it be demon possession? Sure, but more than likely something triggered the onset of the illness by causing a chemical or hormonal imbalance. If you only knew how many of the people I worked with who ended up needing case management services when they stopped taking their meds after being "freed from demon possession" you would understand that this pastor could be setting you up for much more difficulties down the road if he has no specialized training in this area. Please discuss this with your doctor before stopping your meds.

Don't you think that it's a whole different matter for those of us here in the US where we don't have to face being butchered for our faith? I was doing some searching on sharia law and islam this weekend and stumbled on some horrific pics of some Christians in Nigeria that had been slaughtered. It was very graphic. It just made me think about what so many are going through every day while the western church is preoccupied with it's plastic baubles and the latest Jesus Junk. Of course Jesus said that we would face the same as he did but honestly we here in the US have no idea what it's really like out there. I just can't pass any judgment on those who are facing death every day just for being a Christian. I haven't walked in their shoes at all.

I didn't even think of closed countries. In that case it is definitely a wonderful ministry.

I can see some benefits for a segment of society like housebound people where this could be a real blessing. I've enjoyed lots of sermons online but it wasn't the same as being able to participate with real live people. He held no position of authority and basically was stating his opinion on various matters, which was his right under the First Amendment. I did fail to bring up the issue of being allowed to build whatever you want on private property and that is a big fat oh no you can't. If you've ever had to deal with zoning boards and commissions you know there are a lot of things people can't do on their own property. In fact you have a lot of neighbors who will oppose what the plans are for the property. It can get down right ugly. I agree with you.

It is heartbreaking and yet if we don't strive to understand their thinking it is so hard to reach them with the truth. Tolerance is good for a lot of things but not if it keeps us from being bold and truthful. There really is a double standard when it comes to islam. They demand others to tolerate them but it is not reciprocated. They use tolerance as a weapon to shut out any opposition. I haven't even gotten started on how women are treated in islam.

They talk out of both sides of their mouths. They say the whole purpose in building this mosque is to "build bridges" between faiths, yet they could care less about the sensitivities of the families and friends of those that died on 911, and almost 70% of the rest of America, yet bemoan about the sensitivities of muslims in regard to this gay bar! It's because they don't believe anyone but muslims have any rights (and that just means the men) or should even be allowed to live. They are the biggest threat to the world today and the sooner nonmuslims understand that, the better. I was doing some researching this past weekend on the issue of sharia law and unfortunately found some horrific stories (and pics) of Christians being butchered and slaughtered in Nigeria. The most disturbing one was the recent video of a 12 y/o boy's first beheading in Indonesia. He beheaded another 12 y/o Christian boy. These are our brothers and sisters in Christ that are being persecuted and martyred every day in islamic countries. The imam of this mosque has stated that he wants the US to be under sharia law.

Hoarding like this is a mental illness. It's an extreme form of OCD and with some neurodegenerative disorders. My grandmother had Parkinson's and the hoarding started with the onset of the disease. There is no reasoning with these folks without medication and some real serious behavior modification.

Okay, I've never seen the shows but I know what the premise of each show is. Why are the shows interesting and does the fact that these are real people influence how you feel about them? I think the thing I like about American Pickers is the guys know the history of the junk they find. Each thing they show is a slice of the past. The show isn't just about the resale of the things they find.

I watch some of the reality shows like Deadliest Catch, Hoarders; Buried Alive, American Pickers (some junk really is valuable), and those with some educational value on occasion. I can't stand the Jersey Shore/The Real Housewives/Kate Plus 8 type shows though. I think we got stuck with a lot of reality shows after the strike of screenwriters a few years ago. It's cheaper to produce than scripted shows. The hoarders issue is one that is needs to be addressed because a lot of people do suffer with this condition. I was a case manager for a while and had a client who was a horrendous hoarder. A lot of elderly people start hoarding as they get older. My grandmother would have been one of those buried alive without intervention.

I know what you mean. I don't complain at the cost of those yummy crabs anymore. They are worth every penny.
