  1. Hello there! Our youth has recently increased thirty fold to what it was so we need to start a friday night Youth "thing". Our church is very new, and none of us have "started a church" so to speak. So were going by the Lord's leading, so He has prompted us to start something for the youth now, so i was wondering if anyone could give me ideas to get our creative juices flowing. all we know is that it will be a friday night, and thats it so far haha. Praise and Worship is a big thing to our church so were incorperating that, but i was just wondering what your churches do especially for there Youth... much thanks and blessings, Bluebird.
  2. Maybe your children feel that way because they are learning it from you. Or listening to you saying negative things about God and church. God will NEVER ever let you down my friend. People will. Christians arent perfect, they just love a God who is. People will let you down. You cannot go about blaming God for your misfortune. The devil loves that so much, it means he can keep you. he can keep on making your life "unfortunate and self pitty - justified". You need to get into your bible and read all the promises God has in it for you. Jesus came so that you may have life and have it in ABUNDANCE, he will NEVER leave you or forsake you. Regardless of what you think, it is not Jesus plan, idea or will to make you miserable and untrusting of Him. Thats the devils plan and your falling for it. I will be praying for you and your children. Please know that God never left you, and never will. He loves you and wants you to be happy and to go in peace. Peace means nothing missing and nothing broken in your life. Restoration starts with Jesus. If we cant trust God, we have nothing. People, are going to do yucky things, but God is a mighty, awesome, loving, compassionate, promise giving God who is the restorer of life and our fountain of love, blessing and wisdom. Repent of your mistrust, talk to your kids, and say hi to Jesus. He's waiting to help you. all you need to do is ask and trust. God is a GOOD GOD. Just look at the bible. youll see that.
  3. Fear = respect. In the 10 Commandments we are told not to take God's name in vain. God, in English, can refer to Elohiym or any other name of God...include Hayah (I -M). Thus, out of respect and following that commandment, they write God as G-D. It's a sign of respect. i guess thats okay, if its there own way of showing respect then they should go for it. I always thought "taking the Lord's name in vain" was when you use His name as a swearword and stuff like that, but i guess everyone must have different ideas or convictions...
  4. how come they fear saying His name?? Are they scared of God???
  5. The only other alternative you have is to suggest that the God of the Old Testament is different than the God of the new Testament. As for missing the New Testament, I'd say so. It's chalk full of Jews. In fact, I think they even said that Jesus feller is one. im not sure im following here? are we being sarcastic or serious?? haha im lost.... sorry. Me?? Id say the bible is right about God or G-d and it says that He is "the same yesterday, today and forever'... so id say old testament and new, God or G-d is the same. i think ill still stick to typing God, not G-d Coz the Holy Spirit doesnt seem to mind me doing it.
  6. hahaha i can definately relate to the cold.. but afterwards i was warm and praising God that i was a new person in Christ...YAY!!!!
  7. yeh but this is the same song over and over and over again for a month!! Hey thays cool about the mexican music... free atmosphere setter hehe. Do they wear cool big hats too?
  8. No, we absolutely do not hold that teaching. I was baptized in a baptist church as was my lovely bride. We were not "re-baptized" in the church when we joined. That teaching is an extreme teaching not the commonly taught teaching in our group of churches. But since all churches are independant and self-governing, every church may have slightly different rules. And many people who I talk to say that the coc tends to be a bit on the legalistic side. Our particular church is filled with life and love and freedom. We don't argue or bicker over things. There are even some members who drink socially, watch and read Harry Potter, and do many other things that would cause great strife amongst members in other congregations. But it isn't tolerance of evil, it is freedom. I personally don't think that Christians should watch/read Harry Potter, but I don't judge or condemn someone who doesn't hold the same convictions as me. We send out cards to visitors who give their address. It is like a questionaire. We get many back and they almost always say that our church is very warm and friendly and people feel comfortable. And our personal beliefs aren't held so strictly to that we don't allow someone to join if they disagree on some issues. We have many people with different religious backgrounds in our church. We have different cultures represented. We have people from mainline denominations and the Catholic Church. Read our mission statement: Here is our website if you care to look it over. http://www.nwcc.net (I suggest using IE and not FireFox because FF tends to not work quite as well) I was baptised at the beach. i figure if a river is good enough for the brothers in the bible. its good enough for me. It was lovely.
  9. ohhhh, okay i get it now. makes sense. I will still be calling God by name, coz the disiples called Jesus by name, and the Holy Spirit by name, and the father by name, before and after Jesus died, and God hasnt convicted me for leaving all 3 letters in there, (which i asked Him to do if it wasnt okay). So to those of you that type G-d, please dont take my typing GOD as an insult or anything. God has not marked the " - " a necessity to me. Thanks for your replies everyone! I dont mind this thread being closed now, just wanted a simple answer. Got it. Thankyou!!
  10. Here in western Australia, its the AOG (Assembly's of God) churches that are growing in numbers by the bucketload, i think its coz there very youth focused, and self-motivation preaching. I tried it and couldnt bring myself to accepting it. Just too much unity at the expense of truth going on. But they are spreading like flies around here more than any other church. I think they categorise themselves as "non-denominational"
  11. I cant wait to go see it! I never even finished the first book as a kid, i read it too young and didnt understand it so never picked it back up... i only found out a few weeks ago that it has Christian symobism in it... YAY!!! Its going to be GREAT!
  12. hahaha that was awful haha made me nautious watching it! hahaha. Clever but. So did he have that song on replay every night as well?? THEN id be an aggravated neighbour haha.
  13. Hello there all my Brothers and Sisters in Christ, just an easy question that shouldnt spark up a debate (for once) haha... How come some of you type "G-D" instead of GOD??? i dont get it, the first time i saw it i thought someone's "o" wasnt working on there keyboard, haha but then i realised a few people do it. How come? Whats it for? Thankyou for ur answer
  14. This is getting nowhere fast. infact, as i read through the sarcasm and unChristian comments, i am ashamed to have previously posted in this thread. The people who dont celebrate Christmas have made it very clear its because of its pagan roots. The people who do celebrate Christmas have made it very clear they dont worship trees or babys, they celebrate Christ and use Christmas as an evangelical tool... So thats it. Theres not much more to say. Its going in vicious circles. So to those that dont celebrate Christmas.... Happy Holidays. To those who do? Merry Christmas. God Bless all. I suggets we close this thread.
  15. Oh i LOVE talking about Jesus.... anytime i get the chance, my heart leaps in anticipation and my tummy gets butterflies, i jut love talking about my Lord....yay! Praise GOD for He is soooooooooooo good!!! thanks for your short but awesome post
  16. definately. Of course they are! I made a cd with all Christmas music to play at work and i just stand there praising God that my unsaved workmates are all (to the music) humming lines like "Oh Holy night.... it is the night of our dear Saviors birth.... the weary world rejoices.... oh God devine... Christ our savior was born...light of the world....glory to the new born king" un beknowst to them there spirits are being ministered to as i chuck in the odd "praise God, i love Christmas!!!" There is power in LOUD CELEBRATION OF GOD!!! If a christmas tree gets a non believer talking about Christmas, then ill jump right in and lead the Convo the the reason for the season, Jesus. Yep, Christmas is one easy way to evangelise and plant seeds. Praise the LORD!
  17. Since when was giving, decorating and singing of pagan origin? I think your taking things a bit far. There is nothing wrong with Christmas if your celebrating Christ. Why, psalms is a whole book of celebrating Christ... to some, thats what Christmas day is. Celebrating Christ. and theres nothing wrong with exchanging gifts, bringing the joy of giving. Each christmas my mother and i put something under the wishing tree for a little boy and a little girl whose parents cant afford it. instead of spending money on each other, we spend it on kids who would otherwise go without a gift. Our christmas tree, is something we decorate our house with whilst praising God and listening to worship music, and talking about God and how He is so beautiful and wonderful, and thanking him for the opertunity to decorate our house as another way to celebrate Him. then when we finish it we sit under it, and read the story of Jesus from birth to ressurection. The singing of carols? Whats wrong with singing of Jesus, and his birth, and His miracle of salvation??? Hark the herald angels sing... GLORY TO THE NEW BORN KING.....Fa la la la la la la la la... i will sing of God always, everyday, including Christmas. Santa? Well, the story behind him is a real man, who was very wealthy and on Christmas eve he would go around to the poor parts of town giving gifts and food and clothing to all the poor children, he was a great and generous giver, and i have no problems with him so long as he doesnt take first place in Christmas, and in our household, he most certainly does not. Jesus is our generous provider. Santa is just a nice story of giving. My point is, if you have your priorities right, and your heart right, Christmas is a joyful time to celebrate our perfect, beautiful savior in a big and loud way. it can be very helpful for the evangelistic in all of us. if your celebrating some random god, or drooling for presents first thing when u wake up, or let your kids praise santa for the gifts instead of rejoicing in and praising the Lord, then Christmas, is better left untouched until the true meaning is understood and practiced. But if your celebrating CHRISTmas... God bless you in your rejoicing in our mighty Savior!
  18. sure do celebrate Christmas. CHRISTmas... Christ, the annointed one Jesus, and His anointing mas... sounds good to me. As long as you celebrate the right reason for the season, why not make it pretty with decorations, and the joy of giving. As long as Jesus comes first. Always have celebrated Christmas, always will
  19. Thats right. How are we to be used of God to bring people to Christ...if were not even allowed to introduce ourselves or sit with them and share with them??? Going for a coffee is fine. Going to get drunk as a skunk with them, is not. We are in the world, but not of it. As long as you hold the spiritual authority in the meeting with unbelievers, its fine. Goind out with them to places u know will tempt you, is not okay. I have non-christian friends. I will not go with them to clubs and watch them get smashed while i sit there all like "oh what fun, hehe," laughing it off. But i will not abandon them. i will sow seeds in there hearts of our precious savior until the day they are saved, and if that means having dinner with a sinner??? What would Jesus do...??????
  20. Melissa, What a wondeful display of God's grace and Miracles!! Thankyou, my spirit also soared! Sport, Certainly many many miracles still happen. Sometimes miracles are right in front of us but we dont even realise it. Your prayers wont always be answered the way you think, then you only realise it came to pass, some time after it occured! But yes, God is the same yesterday, today and forever.
  21. Well i didnt say that healing was ALWAYS physical healing as well. Hence, believing in prosperity, which is abundance in all areas of life, body, spirit, finance, everything. Im starting to loose what were disagreeing on??? oh thats right, you believe in some cases, God doesnt want you healed. I believe He always wants to restore His righteous through Jesus. And you still havent answered me about the scripture "Lay your hands on the sick and they WILL recover"...hmmm. My bottom line is: Faith will heal you. We cant argue with someones experiences, and thats been mine, healing every time. And we cant argue with what God has revealed to someone. thats what God has revealed to me. And we cant argue with scripture. Which is what ive been shown. So you can believe whatever it is the Lord happened to show you, ill believe what the Lord shows me, and we will leave it at that. If you want to write me an essay, and expect me to read it when you wont bother reading scriptures which im just trying to help show you something wonderful, if your not going to read the Word of God on a matter, that is being offered to you, i wont bother, since you dont want it. Thats just fine, but dont expect me to continue this conversation anymore. I know what God has shown and proven to me. and im greatful and rejoice over it. Wether you agree or not, is not an issue to me any longer, because your last post just finalised my participation in this debate. I will give those who have requested the scripture through PM, but if you dont want the truth, i wont offend you with it. Ive said enough and those who will recieve it will be blessed by it, praise God! those who dont, have there reasons. ill leave it between you and God. Case closed. The Lord has told me to just leave it. He will do His work where he needs to. Its not my job... so ill leave it. SuperJew, i dont want to offend or upset you, i dont want you to think that im saying false things, because i am not. i am not giving you my own ideas, im giving you what has been revealed to me. So i will not sway from it. I love you brother in Christ. I truly do.
  22. take note of this and also know that doesnt give those tv preachers an excuse to milk money from you either. They cant garantee the things they said. they dont know the audience there talking too. (if they have the faith, or if the Lord had told them to partner with that particular ministry or not or other things) so they shouldnt have said those things. God will always provide for you and tithes and offerings are always going to be rewarded with some kind of blessing. But not because a preacher promised that if you give to there show it will happen. Let God speak to you through prayer and His word. He will show you where to sow your money. Who to give to.
  23. I dont demand things off God. i ask. like He tells us to. So i trust that He keeps His word like He says He does. And, every time, He does. Coz i dont ask Him for things that arent in line with His will. i agree that your prayers will only be answered if there in line with God's will. So, all throughout the bible it says its His will for his people to be healthy and prosperous.... so if your asking in His will.... Jesus died so we dont have to have all that junk. Thanks for the lowdown on Isaiah 53. im very aware what its about. And apart of what its about is healing. So since your a professional scripture translator, how do you wriggle your way out of the one that says that were to lay hands on the sick and they will recover (in Jesus name)?????? i am not here to lie. im here to tell you the truth that i have found in the bible. You write an essay, ill give you scripture when i get home. (not at home at the mo) looking forward to your essay. ps... about the last part of your post....if healing in Jesus name is not for today... then how come it works? Why can i see living proof all around me??
  24. How can you call something biblical, satanic? theres scripture throughout the bible continuously that backs up "ask and it will be given" "in Jesus name" "by his stripes we are healed" there is scripture after scripture. So dont give me your blindfold views, without scripture. As far as Jesus being poor goes??? Well, he seemed to have enough money to have a treasurer. And his clothes seemed to be nice enough for people to want to fight over them when they were taken from him.... hmmm. As far as Tess's mum goes, and her experience. i didnt say anything but, someone who sticks by God when there life falls apart is a mature and sensible Christian because God is the only way. So i commend her sticking with God. I didnt explain properly. I dont mean to say God wants us to pray properly, thats the wrond way of putting it. What i mean is that some people see things in the bible, and believe them but dont take them seriously, or dont take them litterally, like for today. So they think, "Gods a sovereing God... so if he heals me he heals me, if he doesnt, he doesnt. His will." and they throw prayers up in hope, not in certainty. Its terrible that the sickness took her, but certain that God would have then used it for His glory so that she did not die in vain.
