  1. That's so absurd, it's funny! It is absurd. And it is funny. And it did happen. Several times.
  2. Actually, that's pretty good. People know you're a Christian, so by confessing Christ as your witness, they may be more likely to accept what you say.
  3. I tend to agree with you. In fact I 100% agree with you about any word can be used badly. But...if the swear words of our society have been set out, stipulated as such, then we as Christians should avoid them. If society as a whole, has deemed them unwholesome words, then we should too. I agree with that to a degree. I think a lot of modern Christians problems stem from "Society as a whole has deemed...". In the world, not of it I believe you said. While the majority of people will say that the F word or the C word are probably the equivalent of verbal nuclear bombs (and they're right) that doesn't necessarily mean we should avoid them simply because society says they're wrong and we agree. God says the use of words for the wrong purposes is not a good thing. Lots about that in James. Should we avoid them? Absolutely yes! But avoid them because of the reasons God told us to avoid them, and focus on that more than anything, more than society's supposed aversion to them. Society is what's contributing to the wicked state the world is in. Well said.

  5. Judging by what I've seen of teenagers today... they probably COULDN'T say anything, because most of what comes out of their mouths is just filth, regardless of their current emotional state. They just cuss because they feel it's the cool thing to do, haha. Lol...so it would seem.
  6. This is a VERY good idea/thought. But alternatives will only work if the person is willing to apply them. And if the person believes they need to apply them. If these swear words are deemed culturally unacceptable, then they would line up with scripture regarding our speech, would they not? I realize too, that any word can be a "swear word", depending on the force/context with which it is used, and that too should be addressed. But as Christians, we are to be different from the world. Honestly, can you see a Christian telling an unbeliever they need f----ing Jesus. Or they need to f---ing get saved and the unbeliever accepting that? If you found this Christian forum full of posts filled with swearing and foul language, I really don't believe you'd be here. Hey, no s---t man. We are Christians...called out. In the world, not of the world. I'm not saying we have to be perfect, but we should most definitely be careful how much of the world is in us. We are to be an example to those who do not know Him. We are His ambassadors.
  7. You're serious? I wish we had that here! Oh, the teenagers wouldn't know what to say!
  8. Please, I never said the woman wasn't a Christian. I only said she called herself a Christian. I do not know if she is one or not. I do not know her well enough to know what her spiritual state is. She joined my friend and I for lunch and her topic of conversation was swearing. As for the woman in my church and her swearing, I never once indicated she wasn't a Christian. My gosh.
  9. Na... who is calling things sin ? Other One ? Ungodliness ...is meaning not Godly . Godly means... pure, clean and Holy...as Our Father God is. Who is saying anything about Sin ? Amen.
  10. I don't think anyone said these people are sinning. The scripture verses given in reference also do not say a man sins if he speaks with a foul mouth. They simply - and strongly - admonish that we as God's people, use grace and wisdom in our speech. As Christians, we are to be a witness to those who are outside of Jesus. Being like the world, makes no impact for Christ.
  11. King James Version About swearing..... James 5:12 But, above all , my brethren, do not swear , either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath. About Cussing.... James 3:10 Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not be so. 2 Timothy 2:16 But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness. So tell your friends that say these things .... it is ungodly . If an unclean word comes out of my mouth ...I ask God ...immediately to forgive me. Wonderful!!! Thank you so much!! I did search on Biblegateway, but I didn't get all of them.
  12. I slip up...crickey, it's gonna happen. I get frustrated with the computer and I can swear with the best of them...sometimes better, lol. But to continually swear and with such gusto...hahaha, oh my gosh. You're trying to change your language. Which is awesome. You also recognize that it is ungodly. They don't. Or they refuse to. And I think that's my biggest issue with this whole thing. Thanks for the scripture verse. I'll be able to use that. Absolutely! It's most unGodly. And that verse is what REALLY put it in perspective for me. My wife and I have both been working on it, with mixed results. But I think what your friends' problem is is that they are as you say, OF the world, and not IN it. They're not being the salt, and helping to preserve the world and flavor it. They're more than likely going along with a lot more social norms that are probably disturbing to those of us trying to walk closer to Christ... I agree. Changing is difficult. Especially when we are accustomed to a certain behavior for so long. But...with the Holy Spirit's help, it can be done...yahooey!! I spent years practicing witchcraft...it's been many years since I left that behind, but there are still days when I come pretty close to telling the Lord I'll see Him in a day or so, while I take care of business, haha!!! That's sounds so funny now that I say it.
