Trump threatens to take control of Panama Canal
nebula replied to missmuffet's topic in U.S. Politics
As it was explained more than once, the question lumped both places together. Paying attention to what he's actually said vs what news clips are saying should make it clear that he's handling the two places differently, especially since at another time he had denied intentions to involve the military with Greenland (sorry, I forget the exact words, and I don't recall where to find this). -
President Trump's executive orders

Without trying to locate site, a lot of those held captive have been released, but not all. The prison dubbed "The DC Gulag" is living up to its name by not letting the prisoners go. I watched bits of a livestream where a group of people are holding vigil outside the place waiting for the J6'ers release. I did see one woman who was let go late today, but I don't know if any others have yet as well. Some prisoners are being held back on account of other charges, such as one man given as second sentence resulting from an raid on his home that, IIRC, didn't have a warrant with it. The politicization and weaponization of our justice system - dear Jesus, please intervene! -

That wasn't the intention of opening lands for resources. Though I do hope there is a way to work out measures that help preserve their life and culture. -
The whole list is here, if you are interested in looking them up: https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/

Mayor of L.A. used to be a leader within the Venceremos Brigade

Anyway, I'm not going to bother furthering arguing with you on this. I have too much going on. If you can't research yourself, it is pointless. -

This was written since I Posted the above: <Quote> Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass is facing criticism over the timing of her recent overseas trip to Ghana, and budget cuts that hampered the city's fire department from doing its job amid the ongoing citywide blaze. The mayor’s poorly timed foreign travel has raised questions about her priorities and similar past trips. One of the most interesting chapters of Bass’ political career and international travel involves her past excursions to communist Cuba. The former U.S. congresswoman turned metropolitan mayor played a significant role with the Venceremos Brigade —a group linked to Cuba's communist regime. <Quote> EDIT: problem reported with this website Please feel free to read the report. -

I don't know anything about crypto currency. I just know that there are a lot of his supporters who are all over crypto and loving Trump getting into it. But, better a president make money via Capitalism than via insider trading or through their child getting hired onto an energy board in a foreign nation. -
Way cool! But I don't think they got his countenance right.

Disagreement over the VP role. Trump argued that the VP's certification of the election was an element of the series of checks and balances our Founding Fathers set into place. So, we disagree on the VP's constitutional duty on this one. But why did Congress pass a law to ensure that the VP's role was a mere ceremony? I bet many Dems, including Harris, this past Jan. 6 wished they had not done that. (LOL) The context to this statement was that Trump had a lot of adversities with McCain, and when a reporter threw out the "POW card" (you can't criticize him, he's a POW - as if being a POW gives him a proverbial get out of jail free card), Trump retorted with his statement, as if to say, "I'm not playing that game." And for the record, not everyone thinks of McCain as a war hero. https://www.vietnamfulldisclosure.org/the-horrors-of-john-mccain-war-hero-or-war-criminal/ And that doesn't even go into whether his war history was accurate or white-washed to save face for his father. -
"In his long-awaited farewell address to the nation, Joe Biden warned Americans that the country faces an emerging “oligarchy”—specifically pointing to the tech industry—that is flooding elections with so-called “dark money.” However, the Democrats received far more funding that Donald Trump during the November elections, with a majority of the wealthy backing the left-leaning establishment party. "Biden claimed ultra-wealthy individuals in the technology sector pose a significant threat to democracy in thinly veiled comments mostly directed at Elon Musk. Notably, Musk, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, and other business leaders will attend President-elect Donald J. Trump’s inauguration alongside his cabinet nominees on January 20. Biden’s remarks may ring hollow to many Americans, as the Biden campaign was the top beneficiary dark money donations, raking in a record-breaking $145 million." Read the rest here

You know, we are at the point where we are just repeating ourselves with new words. The anti-Trump/Trump-haters believe the worst and won't change their minds about it. The pro-Trump people give Trump the benefit of the doubt, trusting he can negotiate a win-win like he has done in the past and won't change their minds about that. Basically, this debate has turned into a Rock-em Sock-em Robots tournament.
