  1. Be so kind as to show where in the scriptures it says this as you write it. It does say that if one desires to look to the law for salvation that is impossible, but the law now is written on the hearts of the believer and obedience is expected because of salvation by grace not to attain salvation by the obedience of the law. Grace does not nullify obedience, it establishes it. It is God working in us to will and to do of His good pleasure(Phil 2:13). Rom 10:4 Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believes. Rom 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. To follow the leadership of the Holy Spirit is to walk holiness and not yield to the flesh. He leads the believer to love the Lord with all their hearts and to love their neighbors as themselves, these two sum up the law and it is not sinful to walk in holiness, it is expected and commanded. If you love Me, keep My commandment John 14:15, and he that has My commandments and keeps them is he that loves Me and he that loves Me is loved by My Father and I will love him and manifest Myself unto him John 14:21. I am confident upon reflection you will agree with this, what say you? Okay. But just remember, you asked for it. If you claim Christ as savior, you have been made righteous, and the Bible clearly says the Law is not for a righteous man. (1 Timothy 1:8). And if you are being led by the Holy Spirit, you are not under the Law (Galatians 5:18) because Jesus is the end of the Law (Romans 10:4). The Bible says if you are a Christian, you can never be justified by obeying the Law (Galatians 2:16), and if you are trying to be justified in any way by the Law, you have fallen away from Grace and are alienated from Christ (Galatians 5:4). Ephesians 2:15 says Jesus abolished the Law, It was cancelled it in His flesh, having nailed it to the cross (Colossians 2:14). I'll write this next one out because it's very important to you: "All who rely on observing the Law are under a curse, for it is written, 'cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the book of the Law.' clearly no one is justified before God by the Law, because the righteous will live by faith." (Galatians 3:10) Jesus became that curse for us, redeeming us through His blood (Galatians 3:13). Our faith is in Christ, because the Law is not based on faith. (Galatians 3:11-12). If you are intent on obeying the Law, you are thus commanded to obey ALL of it. And that includes the animal sacrifices. You are not allowed to pick and choose what parts of the Law you will obey. Jesus Himself said, "For whosoever keeps the whole Law and stumbles at just one point, is guilty of breaking all of it." You have placed yourself back under the Law, and are thus guilty of breaking all of it, because you don't obey all of it. Again, the Bible says the righteous are to live by faith alone (Romans 3:28), and that no righteousness comes from obeying the Law. And if any righteousness could ever come from obeying the law, then Jesus died for nothing (Galatians 2:21). No one will be declared righteous by observing the Law, because the only purpose for the Law was to make man conscious of his sin (Romans 3:20). The Law is simply a "schoolmaster" to drive us to the cross (Galatians 3:19-25) and no further. The Bible says anyone who believes Jesus and receives the Spirit, and then goes back to observing the Law is a fool (Galatians 3:2-3). All that is required of us is to simply believe in Jesus, the one God has sent (John 6:28-29). We have been released from the Law, that we may serve in the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code (Romans 7:6). Those who keep the old covenant have a veil over their hearts and are made dull. But when they turn to the Lord, the veil is taken away (2 Corinthians 3: 14-16). The Bible says that through the body of Christ, we are dead to the Law (Romans 7:4). The believers means of life is Christ, his rule of life is Christ, and his life is Christ (2 Corinthians 3:18; Colossians 3:1-4). You are not pleasing God by obeying what Jesus has done away with. Blessings What you have written is correct and if you would read my post to you I said exactly the same thing about Christ being the end of the law for righteousness in Rom 10:4 and even quoted and posted it. And reading the post that I responded to you will see that you stated that the law was done away with, not that the law was done away with for righteousness. I also noted that in my post and closed my post with the statement that once you read what I wrote about the keeping the law for righteousness was impossible that you would agree, and reading this post shows that I reckoned correctly. Have a great day.

  3. That's a good question, Tinky. Christians on average observe 75-80% of the Law already. They may not observe the Sabbath, the dietary laws, or the Lord's Feasts. But as long as they don't think that being Torah observant is the key to salvation, is it a sin? I don't think so. We need to ask ourselves "WDJD?" (What DID Jesus Do?) As a Christian, I strive to be like Jesus. From reading the Gospels, I know that Jesus was a sinless sacrifice for me and you. That sin was defined by the Torah, and Jesus kept EVERY commandment. I'm just trying to follow in Jesus' footsteps. I think from your statements that you are relying on Christ for your righteousness and your observance is to be obedient as you see it, though I would disagree that Christians are too obey the ceremonial or cleansing laws or for that any of those outside of what Jesus said were a fulfillness of the law and that is the Love the Lord with all our hearts and to love our neighbors as ourselves and this is the fullness of the law. But I do believe for conscious sake that you are right to continue your practice until your convictions are changed by the Lord. The scriptures do say that everyone should be persuaded in their own mind. Mixing of the law as I see it, is to say that observance to the law acquires or keeps one's salvation and that you say is not the case. Have a great Lord's day, because they are all His.
  4. No one under the law ever achieved righteousness by keeping the law because no one ever kept the law, except Jesus of course. The sacrifices were an atonement for their sins, a passing over but never taking away the penalty of sin. It was the believing that God would passover their sins that provided their salvation. Christ was the propititation for all the sin debt of all ages. Heb 10:14 for by one offering He has perfected for ever those who are sancticied. And this passage tells us that it was His death and sacrifice that gives them their eternal life in v15. Heb 9:11-15 But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come,[a] with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation. 12 Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. 13 For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, 14 how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? 15 And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.
  5. I would think the issue would be does the scriptures say not to eat animals and the answer is no, it doesn't say not to eat animals. In fact, it tells us that we can eat anything and to thank the Lord for it. If one chooses not to eat meat, that is their choice. But to say it is a moral choice is a far stretch to me, but others may see it differently, I can live with that and eat turkey with a clean conscious too. I haven't try dog yet, but I have had to eat crow many times.
  6. I must admit that I only read about 3 pages of what others have said on this but as I think about legalism in the scriptures it seems to me that legalism is about trying to be declared righteous by the keeping of the law. Rom 10:4 Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. And in Rom 8:2-4 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. This seems to me to be the importance of understanding the importance of the law given by the Lord in the OT. The law was given to show that transgression of it broke the holiness that God expected in the life of His people. The sacrifices were made to demonstrate that without the shedding of blood there was no forgiveness, but until Christ Jesus laid down His life the blood sacrifices passed over the sin, it did not abolish the sin debt as Romans 8 speaks. The OT saints believed God as Abraham in Gen 15:6 and were declared righteous by faith just as we in the NT. And the NT covenant per Romans 10:4 teaches that righteousness only comes by faith in Jesus Christ and if as the Jews that Paul mentioned there, if one tries by their obedience to become righteous by their deeds, to me, that is legalism and has no merit nor reward. But being placed in Christ as scripture teaches now the law is written not on stone but on our hearts and the believer is by their new nature given the desire by the Holy Spirit to obey the law which is now written on their hearts Rom 8:14; Gal 5:16; 22-25 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. I may not have pieced this together completely the way I wanted to, but it does demonstrate my point. But the one offering of the Lord has perfected forever those in Christ Jesus(Heb 10:14). So obedience is expected and should be a growing process in the life of the believer. A progressive sanctification in their walk and talk which is or should be the result of perfect sanctification credited to us in Christ. We are perfect in Christ, but complete perfection or holiness in our walk comes with the glorified body which we get in glory (1 Cor 15). So if one keep the law or does anything to become righteous by any deed, to me is legalism, but if it is done by faith, it is obedience and is expected. I hope this was not to confusing. I did want to mention the fruit of the Spirit which I believe is love and the other 8 are attributes of the love of God increasing in us and through us to others. It is a faith walk, Christ living in us and through us… Gal 2:17-21 “But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is Christ therefore a minister of sin? Certainly not! 18 For if I build again those things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor. 19 For I through the law died to the law that I might live to God. 20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. 21 I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.”
  7. The scriptures are the place to find this answer of when the Holy Spirit enters a person's heart, Eph 1:10-14 that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him. 11 In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, 12 that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory. 13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.
  8. Eph 1:13-14 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory. This has the order of regeneration, faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. In Him(Jesus) you trusted after you(the lost person) heard the word of truth, the gospel of their salvation, and having believed, they are sealed with the Holy Spirit. It is the reason for the gospel, to tell about what God has done in sending His Son to pay the sin debt of all those who believe and receive Him(John 1:12). It is the gospel under the power of the Holy Spirit which quickens the heart of the sinner and convicts them of sin, judgment and righteousness and it is the word of God which gives life in Christ by faith, John 6:63 “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. Jesus is the propitation for the believers sin and for the sin of the world. 1John2:1-2 My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 2 And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world. Where does the gospel speak of irresistible grace? It does say except you repent you shall likewise perish. Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. It does say in Acts 17:30 “Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent. As John 1:12 Jesus must be received by faith for one to become a child of God.
