  1. Alex wrote: ''CONFESSION OF SIN PERTAINS TO MAINTAINING FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD. WE DO NOT CONFESSS SINS IN ORDER TO REMAIN SAVED." Keep in mind we are discussing I Jn.1:7-10. John was, of course writing to Christians. John said: "if we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Question: If the one to whom John writes does not confess his sin, will he enter heaven? Question: If the one to whom John writes does not confess his sin, and unconfessed sin remains unforgiven, will one with unforgiven sins (because not confessed) go to heaven? Question: If the one to whom John writes does not confess his sin, he is not cleansed from "unrighteousness". Will one not cleansed from unrighteousness enter heaven? Question: If as you so correctly point out ''CONFESSION OF SIN PERTAINS TO MAINTAINING FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD" then will the one to whom John writes who does not confess his sins and therefore has no longer fellowship with God enter heaven? Read Isa.59:1,2 for the condition of any whose sins separate him from God. It appears I will have very little if any time to reappear on this forum for several days. God bless
  2. Yes, the apostles could't comprehend why Peter had gone to the "uncircumcised" (gentiles). Read Acts 11 (which places in order the events of chapter 10 ). Verses 1-12 tell of Peter's struggle to ascertain the meaning of the vision and the arrival of 3 men from Caesarea (where Cornelius was) and the Spirit bidding Peter to go with them "nothing doubting), which Peter did, thank God. As mentioned, the same is found in chapter 10. w
  3. Hi AlexanderJ I refer to hades the receptacle of departed spirits. While some passages appear to teach otherwise, when studied in the more complete sense I understand that that place remains inhibited and will continue until Jesus returns.
  4. Hi Sholoh You wrote: "CONFESSION OF SIN IS NOT SALVIFIC". Yet I Jn.1:8-10 reads: "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us." What could be more "SALVIFIC''? You wrote: ''CONFESSION OF SIN IS FOR US, NOT FOR GOD." But of course, God has no sin. enjoy
  5. Read the whole of Acts 10,11 for the reason Peter was sent to Cornelius. Why was he so reluctant to Go? Read especially 11:1-18 as Peter had to make report to the other apostles that they might understand why he went to the "uncircumcised".
  6. "--whether there be tongues, they shall cease--" I Cor.13:8
  7. Time forbids me to expound on this, but I do not understand that at death one goes immediately to heaven or hell. I am not referring to purgatory either.
  8. I shall offer the following syllogism: Major premise: God will forgive every confessed sin--I Jn.1:7-9 Minor premise: But, there is a sin not forgiven--I Jn.5:15,16 Conclusion: Thus, the sin unto death is the sin not confessed Its my understanding that the word "confess" in this context is generic and would certainly include repentance and a turning away from the sin. A flippant confession is surely not the subject of the context. enjoy
  9. Tongues speaking is the easiest of all the miraculous spiritual gifts to counterfeit and one of the most difficult to teach against becaue of emotions. God bless
  10. I have a one-on-one with one of them on another forum. I don't spare the rod. He seems to remain undented but many read who have been helped as per their response. God bless
  11. That is a direct quote from Romans 8:9, it is the word of God that you don't agree with with, not my opinion. I believe Rom.8:9 completely, without reservation.
  12. I am afraid it is you who needs to study Who the Holy Spirit is. He was given to all who believe in Christ Jesus and accepted His salvation, for upon salvation we are sealed by the Holy Spirit. He, the Holy Spirit creates in us a new person and renews our minds. He gives us gifts to do His ministry. He teaches us in all truth. Through His Spirit in us, we have His fruit, Perhaps, you are missing His teachings because you do not believe in Him? But I do believe in Him, with all my heart. I believe what He said as well, not my feelings. Then, why do you ignore the majority of scripture in favor of a few? Try doing a subject study on the Holy Spirit, where He is spoken of in scripture. You will have a better understanding of His ministry then if you just take a few verses and make a doctrine of them. I have studied evey scripture on the Holy Spirit and ignore none.
  13. Can Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:38 Any Man Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. Acts 8:35-38 Really Think To Box God: The Holy Ghost In And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead. To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins. While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days. Acts 10:42-48 Hi --I really don't understand your conclusion Is It The Holy Spirit And Then Water Baptism? While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? Acts 10:44-47 Or Is It Water Baptism And Then The Holy Spirit? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.Acts 2:38 Let The Scriptures Draw Your Conclusion For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. Philippians 2:13

  15. So if I understand you correctly, you believe it should be done, but is not a have to; to take part in the kingdom. . .correct? Hello Jacob My understanding of water baptism is that it must (not should be)be done to enter the kingdom. w
  16. One cannot even be a Christian without having the Holy Spirit in their heart. Romans 8:9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. Hi Allofgrace I have no problem with your post, although its possible I do not interpret them meaning of the post as you meant it. God bless
  17. If you could/would. . .answer a few things to help better understand you? 1. What denomination do you consider yourself? 2. Do you belive you must be baptized in order to be saved? Blessings Hi I'm not a member of any denomination. The church in the Bible is not a denomination. I believe the Bible teaches water baptism to be essential to salvation, Mark16:15,16. God bless
  18. Holy Spirit baptism was a promise. It was promised to and given to Christ's apostles, not everyone. It occured on the day of Pentecost, Acts 2. It occurred but once again (not quite the same as Acts 2) to the house of Cornelius as recorded in Acts 10,11, for the purpose of confirming to the Jew that God included the gentiles as well. It has not occured since.
  19. You move into the area of adding to scripture with such conclusions as the scripture does not declare what you have here. I merely showed you from scripture that water baptism does not always precede the receiving of the Holy Spirit. I received the Spirit long before I was ever baptized. Are you declaring that I and others like me did not? It would seem to me from what you write, you need to restudy the subject of the Holy Spirit. regards
  20. But water baptism does not always precede the receiving of the Holy Spirit. Act 10:47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? Acts 10:48 (Cornelius) is the only time the Holy Spirit was received before water baptism. Acts 10 and 11 record the conversion of Cornelius the 1st gentile convert. The baptism of the Spirit was given on that occasion to convince the Jew that the gentile was to be included in the scheme of redemption. BTW, there are measures of the Spirit and that of Acts 10,11 is not the same measure as Acts 2:38 God bless

  22. Welcome to Worthy. This passage in Ephesians below points to the fact that once a person hears the truth of the Gospel and believes in Jesus Christ that person is sealed with God's promised Holy Spirit. Eph. 1:13-14 13 In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory. God bless, GE Eph.1:13,14 was written to those who were already Christians, the Ephesians had already been baptized. Acts 2:38 reads: "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." In vs. 36 those on Pentecost were told to believe and vs. 37 verifies their belief saying "they were pricked in their hearts", and then vs. 38 follows with repentance+baptism=remission of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2 was to those not yet Christians, Ephesians was to those already Christians. It begins with hearing the word, belief of it, repentance of sin then baptism for the remissin of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit.
  23. We attain the Holy Spirit through Christ; In John 14 Christ promises us the Holy Spirit, not through being baptized, but He says this "If you love Me and keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper to help you and be with you forever." Not because of anything we have done, or anything that we can do but because of whom God is. Not only did He love us enough and send His son to bear our sins; but He also delivers us a Helper, to guide us in truth, to bring us through the darkness of this cruel world. How great is our God! Read John 14 VERY carefully. Jesus was talking to His apostles. What will you do with Acts 2:38? "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."
  24. One receives the Holy Spirit when baptized, Acts 2:38
