  1. Hi Wonby1 - It is disturbing how much of the law (Prosecution & Defence) is being hamstrung by back door, almost covert, Parliamentary action here. I have the impression, from US colleagues, that this is getting more prevalent at your end - though recent experience, even on this site, shows me we can all be tempted with taking thie law into our own hands! 2. As someone who is regularly embraced in UK law, such a move, here, would be devastating (& certainly challenged) to the Statute Book & European Conventionon on Human Rights - Mr Bumble in Dickens ' A Christmas Carol' was absolutely right when declaring; "The law is a <<< butt >>> "! C+
  3. The Christmas story, pure & simple:- Always makes me realise that, despite everything, there is, yet, hope for this world of ours! C+
  4. & now for something completely different ! .... If you weigh a whale at a whale-weigh station, where do you weigh a pie? C+
  5. 1. Being too judgemental 2. Being too proud 3. Being an Irishman living in England! C+
  6. Hi Brennno - Don't know if you got my 1st reply so thought you'd better have it twice rather than not at all! Desiderata, as I fathom it, is the plural of the Latin Desireratum - something essential or "Desired". My fave passage comes from Max Ehrmann's interpretation (You can Google it). Though as I say my Latin can be worse than my English - Munster Gaeligh being my Mother tongue! Rath De ort; C+
  7. Tend not to think of a loss of focus when the wheels come @ times - I believe my God is always testing me so I always look upon it as just that - A test in which He will always be there for strength & support if need be. C+
  8. Afraid I only know what's in the media. A side effect of my work is I don't pay much heed to what appears in the press. C+
  9. A town near us in olden days captured a monkey that escaped from a French galleon, tried it & found it guilty before sentencing it to death by hanging. A few years ago a candidate stood for Mayor dressed as Angus the Monkey & was elected - His alter-ego has done a great job in the seat! C+
  10. Hi Corinthianz - Hope you're well I resent that there is so much suffering & I can do so little to address this. I resent that so many folk in pain that I don't know & cannot help. I resent that I work in a place where there is a lot of lying, deceit & untruthfulness. I resent that there is so much hunger yet more than enough to go round. I resent that violence is seen as a solution to so many problems. I resent that a millionaire pays less tax than a pensioner on benefits. I resent that at times there is so much in our world to resent - But my God is always at my side understanding my resentment of so much that is wrong in our life. GB; C+
  11. That I didn't do enough! (There will always be something where I should do that bit more!) Slochan leat C+
  12. Hi williampayne100. I know I'm the "Newbie" on these pages but Please be assured you are both in my prayers - And please talk to each other. God bless C +
  13. I hear, more & more, the doubt voiced; "It's not even our war". With this in mind I wonder how many have died unnecessarily. Hailing from Ireland I'm also wonder what the British are doing in Ulster - the 4th Province - in the first place. (Hope I make sense). C +
