so if he or his wife and children, fail to live a good and Godly life he should be removed from his position, as he has failed to meet the biblical criteria for the job as pastor
So....what you are saying is if a pastor has say a son who choose to reject all the teaches he has learn about Christ. Then his father who is the pastor should be removed from the church because his son made his own choice to go his own way by his own free will? Dang I guess being a pastor is hard when you are responsible for the choices that others make. Be them good or bad.

"if a pastor defends "sins from the pulpit", can you honestly believe they are filled with the Spirit?
I would need more information. Like what "sin" is he defending? There are "sins" such as hate, greed, simply uncaring about others. Then their are well more personal things. Like some people believe it is a "sin" to watch tv. Some may think it is a sin to go dancing. Some may think that rock music is a sin. So I would really need to know what "sin' is being defended in order for me to make such a call. It could be that the pastor is just mistaken in what they are saying. After all pastors are human like the rest of us and do make mistakes.

If you don't consider that an assault on the bible as well as Christianity or Gods view of right from wrong then I suppose we simply disagree.
I'm sorry, but I do not understand why I should be upset or feel my Christian faith is under assault because a group of people want to make their own version of the Bible. Many people throughout history have twisted the words of the Bible to justify how they live or what they do. I do not nor have I ever felt that my faith or what I believe threaten by this. In other words, I may not like what they are saying, may disagree with what they are saying, but in no way do I feel they are going to be threat to my own personal faith.
-
I would have to ask them why. There could be any number of reasons. Some families have a big family gathering with food and stuff after an infant is baptized. Maybe grandma is harping on the parents to get her grandbaby baptized. So they do it to shut her up LOL.

“No person shall be appointed to a position if the city council finds that such person has, prior to such proposed appointment, engaged in discrimination or demonstrated a bias, by word or deed, against any person, group or organization on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran status, age or disability,”
No where do I see that is says Christians can not be on the city council. Notice I underlined the word "religion" What has happen is a group of people said that the ordinance was going to ban Christians and people went and ran with that.

Christians (and Muslims) are indeed "prejudiced" against, and "opposed to" homosexuality.
I'm not prejudice against homosexuals and I'm a Christian. Guess they will let me on the council then.

Excuse me for a sec sorry for going off topic but are they really churches that have dress codes? I mean will they really not let you in if you don't follow the dress code?
-
First of all, if Bob is a Christian, why did he cheat on his wife?
I'm going off topic here but I feel I must address this. I don't think people realize how easy it can be for even a good Christian to commit adultery. You are feeling lonely maybe because your wife or husband is working a lot or just busy with the kids or what not. Maybe you go to work and you find some nice person of the opposite sex to talk too. They take the time to listen and you start thinking "wow this person really understands me". You start out as just being friends, but then it grows into something bigger and the next thing you know you are wanting this person more then your wife or husband. That is how easy it can happen. So please be careful with your judgements of others.

No dress code and lots of candles. (more later)

Okay I read the story (part of it anyway) and I do not see where it says they are going to ban Christians. It looks to me as though they want to ban people who have show discrimination. But to make a statement saying that they are going to ban Christians is a bold and misleading statement. Critics argue this and I tend to not believe the critics argument in this case. Your statement should have read "Critics argue that the ordinance could ban Christians." That would be a more truthful statement.
This is why I wait to get the true facts before going off on one of my rants. I put a lot of energy into my rants so I need to save them until they are really needed.
-
You say it is not in the news. So before I go off on one of my rants, I want to see the source of this story.
Oh okay I see you links I will read then go on my rant.

What I am asking is can someone make a statement like you did above, which I bolded, and also be against same sex marriage without being at a minimum inconsistent in their views?
I am not entirely sure that I am 100% against gay marriage.
(Oh I'm going to get it now!)

My husband was divorce when I married him. His ex-wife choice to leave. She got remarried to someone else then divorce again. Would you accuse me of adultery because I married someone who was once divorce? As for your question. I think the act of marriage and divorce is a privet matter between those involved and I for one do not want politicians running my life for me with. What about men who beat their wives and beat their children? Should she just stay and take the beatings until he kills her? Take away the right to divorce and we will end up with a lot more men/women killing one another. We don't live in a perfect world, and more laws won't make this world anymore perfect. We can try to make every sin imaginable illegal but that won't get more people into Heaven. Laws don't save the lost Jesus does.

I suppose it comes down to if you don't like them don't watch them. I don't like musicals (except for "Sweeney Todd") so I tend to stay away from musicals.

It hit me right away. Like at the wedding reception. When it started getting late into the night and I realized that I just can't up and leave and go back to my little apartment and be by myself. Silly I know.

I read the story and I (somewhat of a writer myself) agree with the song writer. He would not allow them to change the lyrics to the last line. So they rejected it. Ban or not, it would not stop me from singing it. Thumps up to the writer of the song for not giving in.
By the way, we sing this song in my church all the time.

1. Does it glorify God? 2.Does it have a good lesson to teach you?
1. To answer the first question "does it glorify God. A lot of the true horror movies that I watch do in fact glorify the power of God. The ones I really like are ones that are based on true stories. In those types of movies a person of God is called in to help fight the evil. I went to see "The Conjuring" a few weeks ago. It is based on a true story. The man and wife couple who were called in to help the family rid their house of demon said to one another when they began to loss faith "this is why God brought us together". For most of these movies (the ones that I like anyway) in the end, it shows that only the power of God can save them.
2. Does it have a good lesson to teach you? Yes! These movies have taught me that it is so easy to let something in. To open the door to the dark side. I have never play around with a Ouija board or tried to contact the dead. I have seen too many of these movies to know that that is how a door can be open.

I confess. I am not really from Middle Earth and I am not really a Hobbit. Although I wish I was.
-
I have no issues with flags or Christmas Trees in churches. There are far more important issues then flags and Christmas trees.
-
I guess I am in the minority here because for me, I love horror movies. I always have. I don't care so much for the slasher movies with blood and gore. But I love a classic ghost story. The kind that make you jump when the person on the screen opens a door and hears a loud BANG!!! A few I have watched have been based on true events. These I truly like. In the end good over comes evil.

I was feeling a bit out of sort. I went to church today and I was still feeling upset about things in my life. When the pastor started his sermon I got up and went down to the church basement to collect my thoughts. I walked into one of the Sunday school rooms and was just looking around. There on the wall was this Bible verse.
" Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7
I thought to myself that it was strange that I should come across that Bible verse at such this time in my life when I am upset and anxious about everything. Could this had been from God? Like could it be that God meant for me to see that verse?

Did God make a way to not have children and not use the pill?I think that birth control and the number of children you choice to have is a personal matter between you, God, and your wife or husband. I believe no one should tell you how many children you need to have, or that you should have children if you made the choice not to do so. No one should make you feel as if you have commented a sin for the personal choices you make regarding the number of children you choice to have. With that being said, frankly, if God wishes you to have a child and it is his will that a child be born to you, it will happen regardless if you are using birth control or not. Though you still have to have ........well you know.

Let me clarify; a Natural way without pill or operation.
Actually, there is the "Rhythm method ". You count the number of days of a women's menstrual cycle. There is actually only a small window when a women is at her most fertile time. The key is to learn when that time is.
