  1. Even rain is a free gift to all. But only those who use it for growing and harvesting are blessed.
  2. The sign of being born-again is the fruit of the Spirit and transformed life. Salvation is of the Lord depending on your degree of walking with the Spirit.
  3. The key is transformed life. Salvation is of the Lord. We cannot make self-claims. Private convenient interpretations may not help.
  4. Precisely! I have not completely denied myself in cash and kind to follow Him. I may be like Zaccheus, tax collector.
  5. A follower is definitely a believer whereas a believer may not be a follower or disciple.
  6. Do we qualify for this: Luke 14 26 "If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple. 27 Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. 33 So then, none of you can be My disciple who does not give up all his own possessions.
  7. I am trying to follow the commandments to the extent possible. Baptism doesn't make one a follower.
  8. No, not to simply die. He is the life, way and the truth. Without cultivating the fruit of the Spirit, salvation is lost even with belief: John 15:2 Ephesians 2 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.
  9. I believe Jesus as the Son of God as claimed by Him. The coinage 'God the Son' is non-biblical and blasphemous.
  10. Born from above sounds better. People are claiming to be born again with some external gestures going through some rituals administered by people down on earth.
  11. There is a footnote in NASB that indicates that born-again can be translated as born from above also.
  12. That is self-claim in tune with Paul. You want to hear Jesus on discipleship? Luke 14 26 "If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple. 27 Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. 33 So then, none of you can be My disciple who does not give up all his own possessions.
  13. 'Born from above' sound more spiritual than 'born-again'. It has nothing to do with man-made arrangements down below. The Holy Spirit will be granted to those who are in obedience to the words of Jesus. Why so many different translations conveying different meanings? Do we have multitude of Holy Spirits? Why different canons for different groups?
  14. You are wrong. That is typical convenient and comfortable assumptions of many Christians. Jesus Himself defines that: Luke 14 26 "If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple. 27 Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. 33 So then, none of you can be My disciple who does not give up all his own possessions.
  15. Jesus' words are of paramount importance. They can be gathered in this order of preference: John, Matthew, Mark and Luke. Are you His disciple? You know, a believer is different from a disciple.
  16. Paul could have written his letters without any assumed apostleship as James, Jude and letter to Hebrews did.
