Christianity is really both. We are saved by the relationship only, but there is such thing as good religion. "Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world." James 1:27. Christianity the religion is a way to put our faith into action.

Yes, its inspiring. Instead of waiting for the Spirit to say "yes", he waited for Him way "no." This is a great lesson for somebody who is seeking to do God's will. Go in a path that you know is aligned with God's will until He says "no."
