  1. I wonder how the Lord would respond if asked how He felt about His name being associated with a pagan holiday. I know its called Christmas but the roots run deep into paganism. As for the Greek symbolism used to represent Christ, I think He's already addressed Himself as the Alpha and Omega. I think anything beyond that conflicts with what he said concerning Himself and could hint of a Greek symbol becoming a graven image that could be worshipped since it would be seen as representing Christ. Just my two cents worth. leave the money in the jar by the door. : ) God bless! Metrick
  2. Thank you OneLight for the advice. I'm always careful of what I accept as truth and I always consider the source and compare everything I consider to be worthy of acceptance to Gods word. But I do appreciate your concern. Thank you. Greetings Qwikphilly. I can appreciate the zeal you expressed in stating Jesus is up. I like to believe that He is everywhere. The up I was referring to was from the debate post. That " God is up in heaven." I was trying to understand what up represents. Is it in relationship to the earth or just a word used to express way out there somewhere. I think it would difficult to orient what is up and down , east or west etc. In space and was asking if anyone may know what " up " is in relation to. The Earth or what. Maybe I should have clarified. But thank you for your comment. Jesus is Lord
  3. This is an interesting thread and I appreciate the views that are being expressed. I come here to learn and I definitely have much to think about and absorb and for this I am thankful to each of you for your input. But I have to admit after reading the entire discussion I'm left with a question. Which way is up? : ). LoL. If someone could just point me in that direction.
  4. Bless your heart! I hope your Thanksgiving was a happy one. I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I pray God will bring you comfort and peace and show you His perfect love for you. I too have lost family members. 3 in the past 2 months. My dad was just released from the hospital after having surgery for cancer. He was hospitalized almost a month. At one point I thought I would lose him. I lost a brother. That hurt so bad. So I can understand what you must be feeling. There is no easy way to deal with grief. Its a very hard process. But with time your pain will ease. Just know there are others who share in your pain and care for your healing. I pray God wraps His arms around you and shows you His love for you. In Jesus's name. Amen!
  5. I rejoice in that common grace we share wherein the love of God for us undeserving beings has been revealed in power. Shaking the heavens and throwing down the strongholds that held us by the power of sin. Allowing us to be the children of the living God. And by the same token I tend to take for granted this same thing in that in my flesh I fail to always fully yield to the will of God and give Him the respect and obedience He rightfully deserves.
  6. I have known a few people who have believed they were called into the ministry and specifically to be a pastor. I feel compelled to write this because the outcomes are varied. To be a pastor is indeed a calling requiring dedication and faithfulness to God's word. Most see a pastor as revered and do not fully understand the untiring dedication needed to carry out the duties necessary to minister properly to a congregation. What most fail to understand is that there is a tremendous amount of damage that can be done from assuming such a role in the ministry and not being prepared for it. Churches can divide, members leave etc. Bad advice has brought legal action in some cases. Whereas a pastor truly called is by no means free of any evil, those that are the best prepared and whose desire to follow the word of God faithfully usually find that God has prepared them to assume the role of a pastor long before the opportunity presents itself. In any case evil thrives in the world and all pastors and ministers of the church need our prayers and support to help them in their fulfilling of God's will. God Bless!
