At the risk of getting yelled at, lol...
It isn't mother's day that's the problem. It's the pressure put on many women to have children such that they feel like failures when they don't or can't. Considering this, it isn't insensitive of the church to recognize the accomplishments of mothers. But it is insensitive of the church to recognize the accomplishments of only mothers and not other women. If we only acknowledged other achievements, it wouldn't be such a huge deal because there wouldn't be nearly as much pressure to have children. Fortunately, they already have a day for that (March 8th).
"International Women's Day is celebrated in many countries around the world. It is a day when women are recognized for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political."
