  1. Simple Agnostic,

When you say goodbye to a loved one who is moving far away, and you do not expect to have contact with them for a long long time, then you miss them. You might even cry. No more contact on this earth. That is, assuming they are saved. Many of my relatives are not saved. So I cry because their death is a great loss, an eternal loss. Yes heaven is terrific, but that does not mean that we will necessarily rejoice when a loved one dies. We are human, and subject to a focus on "now" where we dont have them in our earthly lives anymore. We can still sense a loss even when knowing they are in heaven. We are only human.

Have you considered your eternal future? You ought to. Accept the Lord Jesus into your life and be forgiven of all your sins. Any of us here on the board can help you.

    Praise God. Thank You Jesus.

  2. WElcome to worthy.

As you can see, we are a little playful at times, but there is a lot of good fellowship here. If you have needs, the prayer forum is good. Lots of interesting topics in the upper room forums too.

  3. Personally I think it will happen in my lifetime. In the last few years look at what has happened. We have gay marriages, where once it was condemned. Christians are regarded in vile terms by so many now. Lives are cheaply valued and people die for stupid reasons like they gave someone a funny look. When the trib happens, it will happen quickly. And if you look at how Israel is in existence now......that is another step to the end.

I would love to be pre-trib, since I dont like pain, but I want to be prepared for anything else.

Praise God for His plan of salvation.

  4. Interesting website, but I think I will pass. The books there dont interest me, since it is all about a religion that isnt about our Lord. Why look at anything else when I have God's truth in front of me.

    Do you know Jesus, Caner?

Please stick around and learn from the board members who He is and why He can save your life. Knowing Jesus can do more for you than the books at the website you have posted. Jesus is the way, the truth, and no one comes to the Father except through Him.

  5. Welcome to worthy

I'm also into exploring my religion, and I've never been afraid to ask questions of it, yet I'm still a Catholic.

Then may I encourage you to read the bible and see what it says. It is the word of God. Question "religion", seek God in everything. Seek His will in all things. Desire that relationship with the Lord.

  6. I have a lot of hobbies, maybe too many, and I switch back and forth in doing them. Most I do with my hubby, nice quality bonding time. I am a big crafter too. Crocheting, quilting, embroidery, any fiber art. My husband and I play games a lot too. Over the years, we have collected over 60 games, most obscure ones Ive never seen again. Museums, art galleries, old films, puzzles..........and a few strange hobbies too.......like looking for old benchmarks, historical markers, and geocaching. Im thinking about borrowing my hubby's chisels and trying my hand at stone sculpture next.

Did I mention I dont sleep much?

  7. Hi everyone,

I have not read the entire thread here, but Ive read the last few pages, and seen the hurts here. I am deeply saddened at how the body has been hurt.

It only takes a few posters to make a difference, for good and for bad. (This is not to say newbies are bad......so many can contribute so much to us.) If you feel that things are degrading, then please stay and help build the body back up. Leaving may make you feel good, but it doesnt help the rest of us here. Lets all concentrate our efforts to making our posts in love, with firmness to His truth, with compassion to others. Lets squelch our ego, our personal desires to be proved right or knowledgable in posting, and put the emphasis on our Lord. He desires we love one another. For those who feel the need to leave, please reconsider. There is also an ignore feature on this board.....er.....I think......Ive never actually used ignore.

Please dont leave, Tess, Eric, Calamity, anyone else. Stay please.

(Frustrated by thunderstorm...I will have to add more later when I can come back online.)

    Dear moderator,

Please see ted's comments about crushing the power of the purple.

 Ted, Im just teasing. I love the good natured ribbing that goes on in here. Laughing is a great way to start or end a day.

  9. Part of this is in my testimony.

A few years before I was born again, I beleived in God and prayed to Him, I just didnt beleive in hell, sin, Jesus etc.............

I was engaged and living with a guy, who then out of the blue, dumped me. After a month or so, in my misery, I was on a beach in Mexico. My friends had all paired up for the night, leaving me alone, next to the fire. The waves were enticing, calm and peaceful. I decided to die that night, at that moment. I would swim out in the ocean until I couldnt swim any more, then drown. The end. Peace. As I started to get up, to go out for my final swim, a drunken preacher's son stumbled over the fire and dumped his drink on me. I was mad. I wanted him gone so I could go for my swim. He started to talk to me, annoying me, snapping me out of my misery. By the time he left, I was not in the mood to end my life. I was going to survive my loss, and continue on. I knew at that time that God had interfered and saved me from myself. I knew He saved me.

I still didnt accept Jesus for another few years. I am so stubborn sometimes.

  10. I am just plain trouble.

I was working on an archaeological site and we had a propane refrigerator in camp. It also had an electric plug. Some new people were going to join us....so we plugged it into a pine tree, just to see if they would fall for it.

One of my best jokes involved my brother's wedding......but I cant really talk about it. It was really funny though.

I try not to let my jokes get to the point of hurting anyone though, all meant in good fun.

  11. The Lord tells us that for those who earnestly seek Him, then He will reveal Himself to them. I can trust that God will follow through on His promises.

Even more though important though, is what about those who have heard of Him and have not accepted Jesus? Sadly, they face a terrible eternity. The good news is that they still have time to accept Jesus, until they take their last breath. They shouldnt wait though. That is too big a risk.

  12. We are all human, and prone to falling down. God will always forgive you for your sins. He knows you are trying. Talk with God in prayer, tell Him how you feel about all of this. Let Him take the burden from you. Trusting in God is hard for most of us. He knows that too. Keep trying, and know the Lord loves you still. He will never leave you, nor forsake you.

  13. I too have thought of this. I have wondered, will I hold true and firmly state, yes I beleive in Jesus? I want that answer to be yes. This is just my personal opinion though, that if such a time happened, and we are sealed in the Spirit, sealed in Christ, then He will hold us true to Him, and we will face such a death as Stephen did when he was stoned in Acts. As long as we place God first in our lives, our answer will be yes.

  14. Psa 66:1 To the Chief Musician. A Song. A Psalm. Make a joyful noise to God, all the earth.

Certianly my singing qualifies as that. ;)

My personal opinion. The Lord loves praise in all forms.

I also like cajun, zydeco music, ethnic music of many kinds.

  15. If God is omnipotent, we do not need a savior.

Sorry, I dont see the logic on that one. Not one of us is without sin. For that reason we need a savior. Without Jesus, we couldnt be with God.

There are no lies or hypocrisies in the bible.

  16. I guess I was just wondering about the area of asking God for things. For instance, I just interviewed for a new job that I want. Should I be just thanking God in advance for the job or praying if it's His will?

Would you like an example of how I would pray in that situation? Keep in mind please that this is how I pray, and not necessarily how I think everyone should pray. This is just how I communicate best with the Lord in prayer.

I would first thank God for giving me the opportunity to have the interview. I would then say "You know my needs, my wants. You know I want this job. But You also know better than I do if it is right for me. Please show me Your will on this. Please guide me Lord." Bare bones version...I usually flesh it out a lot more.

I guess I dont say Your will be done, but I do acknowledge His will in it. I hope this helps.

  17. Im not an expert on prayer. I pray a lot, and have seen Him answer my prayers a lot. I have also seen the Lord speak to me in prayer.

Philippians 4:6-7 teaches us how to approach the Lord.

6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Romans 8: 26-27 teaches us that the Spirit intercedes and also makes our needs known. (I personally dont interpret this verse to mean praying in tongues, only that the Spirit is with us in prayer.)

26In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. 27And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will.

Matthew 6:9-13, the Lords prayer, can teach us a lot about prayer. Acknowledging the Lord first, asking for our needs, asking for forgiveness, and to keep from sin.

9"This, then, is how you should pray:

    " 'Our Father in heaven,

    hallowed be your name,

    10your kingdom come,

    your will be done

on earth as it is in heaven.

11Give us today our daily bread.

    12Forgive us our debts,

as we also have forgiven our debtors.

13And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from the evil one.

When I pray, I try to offer thanksgiving, or some acknowledgement to God. I try put Him first in my prayer. I try to pray within His will, within the Spirit. After all, God doesnt need this prayer, He knows my needs. I need the prayer. Prayer helps me to draw close to Him.

Really though, when all is said and done, it isnt the words, or the form of the prayer, it is the heart. Speak to the Lord from your heart, and you will have a good prayer life.

    Just my opinion.
