  1. Do you still think the following laws apply for today?

No eating pork, shrimp, crab legs?

Bring your infections before a priest to examine? Asking your priest to examine mildew in your house or on your clothes?

Making sure the fowl you eat is killed in a clay pot?

Not eating anything that isn't kosher?

If there's a medium in your neighbourhood, putting him/her to death?

I mentioned the moral laws in the OT, not specific ceremonial laws. And many of these were modified in the NT. For example all food is now considered good, that is mentioned somewhere in the epistles. No, we dont put mediums ot death, but we should not consult one, and speak out against this. The priests and infections are also not part of the moral law. Read the old laws and see what the moral implications are, and see where they've been addressed in the NT. Most importantly, follow the convictions given to you by the Holy Spirit, that is God letting you know where you should focus in your life.

If you are convicted that the ministry has fallen away and become a luke warm or dead ministry. Then you must leave it, if you are to be true to God. To face being accused and labeled by such people is persecution for doing what you know God wants you to do and therefore it is glorious to be accounted worthy to face such labeling for your faith in Jesus.

May God guide your way and may you hear His call.

Adstar you have no idea the impact your words have on me. I am facing a similar sort of situation, only not with a church, but another kind of ministry. Unfortunately God has shown me I am not yet to leave, but it is hard to recognize that it has fallen away and is dead. Thank you for showing me that it is indeed a dead or dying ministry.

  3. My sister in law is muslim. I live in a predominantly mormon area. I have to have some idea of what their beliefs entail or I cannot defend against it. Nor can I witness without knowing where their beliefs differ from mine. It is not for those weak in faith, but neither should all of us remain ignorant of the false doctrines out there either.

    Just my view.

  4. Just my opinion.......

Although under the new covenant we are no longer under the Law of Moses, God desires we live a holier lifestyle. Only recently did I realize that perhaps the guidelines for that life can be found in the moral part of the law of Moses. Not that following it will save you, but that using it as a guideline for how God wants us to live might be a better way to view it. Some modifications to this were made in the NT, but otherwise, I think that may be a way to understand how God wishes us to be from a moral standpoint. I am still studying this for myself to see how this fits into the Christian life.

As far as the sabbath, I beleive there is a scripture in the epistles that states that everyday should be viewed as the Lord's day, a sabbath day. So Saturday or Sunday really doesnt make any difference.

Since all of the bible points to the fall of man and God's plan for mankind's salvation, both the Old and New testaments are important to us. Jesus isnt confined to the NT or the Gospels. He is to be found in the OT as well. Both are important to beleivers.

  5. I grew up in the countryside of rural Long Island. My childhood memories are filled with catching frogs, eating wild raspberries and that kind of thing. From early on, I saw nature. Somehow in all of that, I began to see a supernatural hand behind it all. Eventually the years past, and my faith in God changed as I grew up, but I never doubted His existence. I began to study science, the life sciences in particular. As I learned about the details of Creation, I saw more clearly the Hand of God. I could not look at nature and see anything random like a godless evolution, even though it was taught to me. There was just too much order in the universe for it to be anything but God. Look in the sands at the tide mark on the beach. Sift it out, and look at the minute shells you find under a microscope. Magnificent creation of God.

Still though I did not believe in Jesus. To me, He was just a
