  1. It's funny, I completely disagree with the idea of Christians not being police officers, but I can also disagree with a thought like yours. Self defense and death penalty are things that I believe don't follow Christ's teachings. Christ was neither Libral or conservative, and I aim to follow Him.
  2. 1Jo 3:15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. have you ever hated your brother?
  3. I would say the death penalty does not support mercy, the crime is done and the perp is apprehended. Give room for mercy. But in a situation where the person is committing a crime, then if he happens to die and while attempting to stop him then that's Gods Judgement being applied
  4. If you were a revenger of the Lord, would not you telling the person to stop be mercy and if the continue they would be forsaking their mercy? We never know when the Lord's judgment is upon us.
  5. If this was such a great teaching, why did they not tell them to leave their profession? It sees John was telling them how to do their jobs according to the will of God in Lukd 3. What do you think?
  6. I hear this a lot where I am now. It's the idea of two separate Kingdoms. "My kingdom is not of this world," says Jesus. People of the Kingdom of God do not fight.
  7. So, can you tell me plainly? What about someone who is already a police officer. Can they give their life to Christ and remain there?
  8. Are you saying thoes that live by the sword die by the sword means that, thoes people where skilled in their work, so Peter should be careful?
  9. Acts 10 is where I believe I found an answer. No it's a little more complicated than that. I actually served in the military, but it has nothing to do with that. Im in a community that strongly believes that Christians can't be police officers. And it's causing so issues.
  10. Thank you so much for your response and diligence. It seems I found an answer amongst your post. I have a lot to read so I hope to read it all. God bless
  11. Thank you. I want to ask about what you mean about putting away the sword. Please explain that. Also it was John that spoke to the soldiers, not Jesus. I thought it was Jesus too at one point. Although I understand what you are saying. That could make a huge difference in my situation.
  12. Where does the Bible say a Christian can defend themself. If a police officer has to defend themself, wouldn't it be impossible and against the teachings of Jesus for a Christian to be a police officer?
  13. Not sure I understand the first part. A police officer killing someone, wouldn't that go against loving your enemies as Jesus clearly commanded Christians to do?
  14. Some would say that Jesus clearly teaches to not avenge yourself and turn the other cheek. Wouldn't you have to reject that teaching in order to be a police officer?
  15. Hello, can a Christian be a police officer knowing that they may have to kill. Please explain, why or why not. Biblically of course.
  16. I think it's a good thought exercise.
  17. I agree God created everything out of Himself
  18. Is the Spirit considered nothing or something?
  19. So what did He put in Adam in Genisis 2 to make him a living soul?
  20. Would not His breath be a thing? would non-visible things still be considered things?
