  1. We live on a farm six miles out from a small town. Our nearest neighbor is 1/4 mile away. They are a nice family, but also busy with farming. So we don't socialize alot with them. So basically, we don't really have any neighbors (except one other family). It's nice but also kind of lonely. We depend on family alot. CarolineS
  2. Man does not have an immortal or eternal soul. This is a belief taken from pagan culture and incorporated into the apostate church. Only God is immortal. We receive the gift of immortality at the second advent of Christ. It is a gift. It is for believers only. Only for those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. Unbelievers do not receive the gift of immortality. They are punished according to their sins. Some will burn for a short time, some longer. Then the fire will go out. Evil will no longer exist. Only what is holy, good, and righteous. Never again will any sin occur in the new world God has prepared. If you study the Word, scripture clearly refutes this false idea of the immortal soul, which is a lie from Satan himself. In Christ, CarolineS
  3. Greetings, I agree, Dennis. I believe there will be a remnant people of God who will restore God's Law before Jesus returns. I look at God's Law as a wall of protection for believers. The law protects us from sin. If we follow His law, sin is kept away or outside of us. All that is holy and good is kept inside. <Isaiah 58:12> "Those from among you shall build the old waste places; You shall raise up the foundations of many generations; And you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach, The Restorer of Streets to Dwell In." Some are teaching that God's Law is not for New Testament believers. That God's Law is only for the Jews. Some say we are under grace, we don't need to worry about the law. There is definitely a breach in the wall that needs to be repaired. I believe God will raise up a remnant in the last days that will restore God's Law including the Sabbath. <Isaiah 58:13> "If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on My holy day, And call the Sabbath a delight, The holy day of the Lord honorable, and shall honor Him, not doing your own ways, Nor finding your own pleasure, Nor speaking your own words, Then you shall delight yourself in the Lord: And I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth, And feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father. The mouth of the Lord has spoken." God promises to bless those who keep the Sabbath. <Psalm 119:33-35> "Teach me, O Lord, the way of Your statutes, And I shall keep it to the end. Give me understanding, and I shall keep Your law;: Indeed, I shall observe it with my whole heart. Make me walk in the path of Your commandments, For I delight in it." Ask God for understanding and He will surely give you wisdom and understanding regarding this issue. In Christ, CarolineS
  4. The Sabbath is not a sign of sanctification. The Sabbath is picture of salvation. I will defend anyone's right to keep the Sabbath, as I find it to be pleasent, and a blessing. It is quite another thing to judge other people because they don't keep the Sabbath. Since you have such a love for God's commandments, and are quick to judge people on that basis, do you also keep the commandment to separate from your wife during the time of her menstruation? Do you sleep in separate beds in separate rooms until the period of her uncleanness is passed? Does she then go and dip herself in a mikveh pool when the days of her uncleanness are accomplished? I bet I can find all kinds of Torah commandments that you don't observe, while you look down your self-righteous snoot at those who do not choose to keep the the 7th day of the week Sabbath. No one is going to be judged on the basis of whether they kept the Sabbath or not. It is your response to the gospel that determines your eternal destiny. There is proper way to defend Sabbath observance. Acting like people are somehow deficient as Christians is not it. I thought this discussion pertained to the Ten Commandments, especially the fourth. Where in the Ten Commandments does it state to separate from your wife during the time of her menstruation? Where does it say to sleep in separate beds? I must be missing something. You said: "No one is going to be judged on the basis of whether they kept the Sabbath or not." Have you done any reading on the nation of Israel and how God judged them for not keeping the Sabbath? It's an interesting topic and has many lessons for us to learn from, you might want to check it out. In Christ, CarolineS In Christ, CarolineS
  5. It is important to keep the Sabbath. We will keep it in the new earth. <Isaiah 66:22-23> "For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the Lord, so shall your seed and your name remain. And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the Lord." So, why not start now? Why not follow the example of Jesus? Why follow the tradition of man? Doesn't Jesus say, "If you love me, keep my commandments." It's not about a day of the week. It's about whom you serve. Who is your master? Is it Jesus or man? In Christ, CarolineS
  6. Yomo, I am so excited for you! What an awesome adventure. Tell us everything about what you see, eat, and about the people. I want all the details. A trip to Israel -- I'm drooling!! CarolineS
  7. Yes. I have changed my mind on some issues after reading threads here and checking a position with scripture. I can give you two examples. I now believe strongly that full immersion baptisim is the only correct way to be baptized. In fact, this past summer my daughter and I were baptized in the Missouri River. It was a beautiful day. Secondly, I used to believe in a pre-trib. rapture. But after reading many posts on another forum and studying scripture, I now believe that position is a lie from Satan himself. The church sould now be preparing itself for a great time of testing. We will need to really know the Word and have a strong faith to survive. I am not posting this to debate these positions, I am just answering the question. Sometimes, when I read a thread or scripture that is posted, it really speaks to me and a light goes on. In Christ, CarolineS
  8. My thoughts exactly! This is something I am continuing to study; and I do like to read different viewpoints. I am still looking for scripture that supports a seven year period of time. Thanks for the reply. In Christ, CarolineS
  9. [quote name='Christ's Free Servant' date='Nov 10 2005, 03:43 PM' [quote Do you ever wonder, "why Asia?" I mean the Tsunami was in Asia on one side of India with a huge death toll and now there is another quake with a huge death toll on the other side of India. Is this normal? Or is God trying to get a message to those people over there? I believe that is the last unreached people groups over there and that God is allowing this for the purpose of the spread of the gospel to the last unreached people groups. But why such a huge loss of life? I don't know.
  10. I think TV can be either very positive or very negative. It depends how you use it. I love my TV and would never turn it off for a whole month! No way, I couldn't do it. I should also tell you we subscribe to Sky Angel. It is a satellite dish with all christian programing. Every movie, every program is safe for my kids to watch, I don't have to worry when the TV is on. The best thing about it is it only costs about $15.00/month. I can listen to a bible study while I clean or prepare supper. Many times I watch a program with my Bible and pen in hand. In Christ, CarolineS
  11. Caroline, I'm sorry to be getting to your post so late. I had almost forgotten about this thread! To answer your question.... Throughout Scripture, the Tribulation is referred to by other names such as: 1) The Day of the Lord (Isaiah 2:12; 13:6, 9; Joel 1:15, 2:1, 11, 31, 3:14; 1 Thessalonians 5:2) 2) trouble or tribulation (Deuteronomy 4:30; Zephaniah 1:1) 3) Great Tribulation which refers to the most intense second half of the 7-year period (Matthew 24:21) 4) time or day of trouble (Daniel 12:1; Zephaniah 1:15) 5) time of Jacob's trouble (Jeremiah 30:7) Daniel 9:24-27 is key to understanding the time and purpose of the Tribulation. It talks about 70 weeks that have been declared against "your people." Daniel's "people" are the Jews, the nation of Israel, and Daniel 9:24 talks about a period of time that God has given..... "to finish the transgression, to make an end of sin, to make atonement for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy place." God declares that "70 weeks" will fulfill all these things. The Hebrew word that is used and translated as "week" is "heptad." When 70 weeks is mentioned, it's not talking about 7 days as we know it. Heptad in this passage, in Hebrew, means 7 and 70 weeks. In other words, 70 sevens (70 times 7). This time that God is talking about is actually 70 sevens of years, or 490 years. Daniel 9:25-26 confirms it. Daniel is told that the Messiah will be cut off "7 weeks and 62 weeks" (69 weeks total) beginning with the decree to rebuild Jerusalem. In other words, 69 sevens of years (483 years) after the decree to rebuild Jerusalem, the Messiah will be cutoff. Biblical historians confirmed that 483 years passed from the time of the decree to rebuild Jerusalem to the time when Jesus was crucified. With 483 years having passed from the decree to rebuild Jerusalem to the cutting off of the Messiah, this leaves 1 seven (7 years) to be fulfilled according to Daniel 9:24: "to finish the transgression, to make an end of sin, to make atonement for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy place." This final 7-year period is known as the Tribulation period, the time when God finishes judging Israel for their sin and, at the same time, judge the unbelieving world for their sin. I have a little more information on this if you would like it... regarding the seven years of Tribulation. Daniel 9:27 gives us some insight to those years. This verse also goes into confirmation of the split of the seven years of tribulation, with the last half of it being the Great Tribulation. This is confirmed again in Revelation 13, specifically in verse 5. Daniel 7:25 also refers to the Great Tribulation when the beast will be in power. Revelation 11:2-3 and Daniel 12:11-12 are two other references to the tribulation period, both referencing a midpoint. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. I don't claim to be a great scholar, but I have put a great deal of time and study into the end times. Keith, Thank you for the reply. However, I don't see things exactly the way that you do. The scripture in Isaiah and Joel refer to the Day of the Lord. I see this as a separate event from the tribulation period. I believe the church will go through a time of testing and sifting before Christ returns. God's true church or bride will be separated from the world. Those who are not true followers of Christ will not hold to the truth, they will bail out and follow the ways of the world. Christ will return at the end of this period, and the day he does return is the Day of the Lord. Daniel 9:24-27 refers to a time of probation for the Jewish people. The decree to rebuild Jerusalem, spoken of by the angel to Daniel, was given in 457 BC. The rebuilding of Jerusalem was completed by 408 BC. Jesus was baptized in 27 AD, exactly 483 years after the commandment to restore Jerusalem. Jesus was crucified in 31 AD, the middle of the seventieth week. Christ brought an end to the sacrificial service by dying for the salvation of the world. In 34 AD, the stoning of Stephen, the first Christian martyr, marked the close of Israel's seventy-week (490-year) probation. After the stoning of Stephen the gospel was taken to the Gentiles, and the Christian church was born. Judaism as a nation gave way to spiritual Israel, the church. In Christ, CarolineS
  12. Dennis, Excellent post. You are correct. The wages of sin are death not eternal torment. Our God is a God of love and fairness. Non-believers will be punished according to their works and then cease to exist. God does not roast sinners for all of eternity due to sins that occurred during a brief lifetime. Many people are in Babylon. They have learned much false teaching and false doctrine from their church. These doctrines have a pagan orgin and were incorporated into the Catholic Church. People need to read and study scripture for themselves. We are not to blindly follow our religious leaders. We are to be Bereans and check the Word. Remember, the religious leaders were wrong the first time Jesus came. They led many people astray. They will do it again the second time He comes. In Christ, CarolineS
  13. I still have to disagree. Purchasing the club will just move the whole problem to another neighborhood. According to the article, the owner, Bill Martin, has already sold a former club of his in the same township in 1996 for $36,000. Then he opened this club. He stated in the article he didn't know if he would open another strip club, even though this is what he has done in the past. What makes you think he wouldn't do it again? His past record indicates he would. And with a six-figure offer, it would probably be bigger and more attractive. Secondly, by picketing the business, I meant holding prayer vigils, passing out literature, inviting people to church, witnessing to people that work there and people that come there. Some would leave, but some would be changed. I think more should be done to reach these people then buy them out. Just MHO. In Christ, CarolineS
  14. I think it's awesome here. I am here to learn and hear different viewpoints. I love it here because since I joined I am reading my Bible more and checking out scripture more frequently. It helps me to grow in Christ. And it helps me to be a better witness when I am out in the world. I also like it here because we live out in the middle of no where. I love reading posts from people in other parts of the world. It helps me feel connected. In Christ, CarolineS
  15. Yes. We are heading for a one world religion. In Christ, CarolineS
  16. OK. I think it is wrong because the owner will probably use the money to buy another club in another neighborhood. The owner will move away. His employees will probably go with him, if he promises them continued employment. The patrons that go there will find another club to attend or go to the new club if it is not too far away. So the church is using its money (God's money) to change a building instead of changing lives. The owner isn't changed. The strippers lives aren't changed. The people that go there aren't changed. And the problem just moves to another neighborhood. We don't need to change buildings. The church needs to change people. In Christ, CarolineS
  17. <John 14:6> "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.' " I agree. Jesus is the only way. In Christ, CarolineS
  18. Well, the point of buying the building is their means of getting rid of the strip joint. Didn't you read the article? It mentions that protesting and other legal methods have failed in getting rid of the business. So, buy the building . . . and then convert and use it for something else. Why not? Yes, I did read the article. I still think they should picket the place and discourage business. I just don't believe using God's money to buy a strip club is a good idea. There has to be a better way. CarolineS
  19. Very Cool pic. Thanks for sharing. I live in an area with lots of open space, but we sure don't have a view of anything like that! CarolineS
  20. I don't think this is a good idea either. Using God's money to buy a strip joint, it's just not right. Couldn't all the church members just picket the place and drive business away? I think the church should pray about this idea some more. CarolineS
  21. I agree with Nebula. Whenever you have a society with a great gap between the rich and the poor, and that gap keeps getting wider, (like here in the US) the people at the bottem will only tolerate it for so long. Social chaos results. Doesn't history prove this? I'm not that good at history, but hasn't this happened in France before? Does anyone know much about their economy at this time? In Christ, CarolineS
  22. Thank you George for all you do for WB. I will be praying for your family and healing for your daughter. In Christ, CarolineS
  23. This theory has been around for a long time. I agree with much of what you have posted; and there are many types or foreshadows of Christ in the old testament. Another one to consider is Nehemiah. He was the king's cupbearer. He was in a position of trust, a personal assistant to the king. (Just like Jesus is at the right hand of God, the Father.) In the presence of the king Nehemiah was sad, his heart was full of sorrow. The king noticed as asked why are you sad and full of sorrow? (No one should be sad in the presence of God.) Nehemiah was granted permission to rebuild the wall in Jerusalem and was was even given the king's army for protection. He gave God the credit. (Just like Jesus gave His Father glory, and Jesus had an army of angels to call upon, if He choose to.) Nehemiah was in Jerusalem 3 days, and arose in the night. (Nehemiah 2:6) Nehemiah went from the Serpent Well and the Refuse Gate to the Fountain Gate and to the King's Pool. (Jesus takes us away from the serpent, out of the refuse we are in to the King's Pool.) Nehemiah was laughed at and mocked. He was accused of rebelling against the king. (Nehemiah 2:19) (Just like Jesus was mocked and accused of rebelling against Rome.) Nehemiah chap. 3 lists 42 building teams. (In Revelation a time of 42 months is referred to.) Nehemiah chap. 4 refers to a leader that became furious and very indignant against the Jews rebuilding the wall. Just like Satan is furious with God's followers. Nehemiah left a very high position; he was living in the King's palace. (Just like Jesus left His heavenly kingdom to come down to us.) By studying Nehemiah, one can see a foreshadow of Christ. I do have one quesiton about your post, Keith, what scripture supports a seven year trib. period? In Christ, CarolineS
  24. These so called psychics are dabbling in spiritualism. They may contact spirits, but if they do they are evil angels, those who fell and are working with Satan. God will destroy them all. As christians, we should have nothing to do with them. In Christ, CarolineS
