  1. I'm sorry but neither of those times include "pray as you bathe." God bless!
  2. I cringed when I read that you "pray as you bathe" because I would at least hope that the God you serve should be held in REVERENCE. With the love of Christ, God bless!
  3. Well, lets take a look at scriptures... Acts 10:1 There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the band called the Italian band, Acts 10:2 A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway. Acts 10:17 Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men which were sent from Cornelius had made enquiry for Simon's house, and stood before the gate, Acts 10:18 And called, and asked whether Simon, which was surnamed Peter, were lodged there. Acts 10:21 Then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come? Acts 10:22 And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee. Acts 10:24 And the morrow after they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, and he had called together his kinsmen and near friends. Acts 10:25 And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him. Acts 10:26 But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man. Acts 10:27 And as he talked with him, he went in, and found many that were come together. Acts 10:28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean. Acts 10:34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: Acts 10:35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him. Acts 10:37 That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached; Acts 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. Acts 10:39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree: Acts 10:40 Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly; Acts 10:41 Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead. Acts 10:42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead. Acts 10:44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. Acts 10:45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 10:46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, Acts 10:47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? Acts 10:48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days. Same message, same baptism, same Holy Ghost unto the Gentiles, God bless!
  4. if we look further, to verse 39, we see it is for us ALL... Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. God is still calling us, God bless!
  5. I'm sorry, but the baptism is with water. Let's take a close look at this verse, ok? Romans 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized(G907) into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Strong's Definition: G907 βαπτίζω baptizō bap-tid'-zo From a derivative of G911; to make whelmed (that is, fully wet); used only (in the New Testament) of ceremonial ablution, especially (technically) of the ordinance of Christian baptism: - baptist, baptize, wash. Thayer Definition: G907 βαπτίζω baptizō 1) to dip repeatedly, to immerse, to submerge (of vessels sunk) 2) to cleanse by dipping or submerging, to wash, to make clean with water, to wash one’s self, bathe 3) to overwhelm I hope this will help, God bless!
  6. Are you saying Paul did not mean water baptism in his writings to the church? God bless!
  7. Generally speaking, anything "new and improved" is usually worse. The KJV is translated word for word, and into Eng was not an easy task, whereby italics were brought in for sentence structure as you are well aware. I like it and it works for me, personally. I never had reason to by "default" anything other. The "other" versions display the sentiment, which is not word for word. So, how bad can that really be? Try to get a job at the U.N. as a translator, giving only the sentiment of the speaker. When it comes to the Word of God, I prefer my tried and true KJV. I hope I have answered your question. And, thank you for sharing. God bless!
  8. You mentioned Mark 16:16, which says... Mark 16:16 "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned." And, I agree with that. Since this thread is about His Name, one must ask, "so why does today's church baptize in the name of Father, Son, Holy Ghost, and NOT the name of Jesus? Everywhere a baptism is actually taking place, it is having the name of Jesus pronounced over them. Matthew 28:19 is a command of what to DO not what to repeat verbatim. And, further, it is NOT an actual baptism taking place. So, we ask ourselves, Why does not the church FULFILL the command as seen in the book of Acts? The answer is addressed in my thread titled, "One True Church"... https://www.worthychristianforums.com/topic/237229-one-true-church/ Thank you for your post, God bless!
  9. Paul gave strict warning against any divisions in the church... 1 Corinthians 1:10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. Regardless of Paul's concern, we now have THOUSANDS of denominations. Some of which are Lutheran (of Martin Luther the German monk who began the Protestant Reformation), some are Calvinists (of John Calvin), Baptists, Catholic and the list goes on. Ever wondered why there are THOUSANDS (literally) of religious denominations, organizations and autonomous congregations, many of whom use the same version of the Holy Bible, but with various beliefs? GOD'S CHURCH WAS NOT ORDAINED TO BE THAT WAY! Varying beliefs, divisions, contention and strife do not come from God. 2 Peter 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. Deuteronomy 12:32 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it. Revelation 22:18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: Revelation 22:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and [from] the things which are written in this book. A warning is given in Acts Chapter 20... 28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. (29) For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. (30) Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. (31) Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears. There is only ONE TRUE CHURCH. And it was started by Jesus, Himself. Jesus is the ONLY name associated with it's founding, and it's inauguration. The TRUE Church's birth and inauguration is found documented in Acts Chapter 2. And it's original teachings and oldest history is found within the 28 Chapters of the New Testament Book of Acts (of the Apostles). God bless!
  10. Yes, I agree. Thank you for your response. God bless!
  11. All over the world in these last days Satan is destroying mainstream Christianity through liberalism and tolerance of heresies. When comparing the different versions of the Bible, we notice major differences. For example, In Matthew chapter 17 (KJV) Jesus talks about casting out a devil... Matthew 17:21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting. This verse is not in the NIV. What scripture do we suppose the devil would like to take out from the word of God? the one that talks about about prayer and fasting, so no one can cast him out. There is less anointing in many versions, they are watered down, verses omitted. The devil can't completely destroy the word of God, so what did he do? he compromised it as was his device from the beginning... Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? It is amazing the amount of different Bible versions out there. A recent trip to the Bible section in the book store revealed so many as the men's devotional, the Catholic, the NIV, not even sure if there was a KJV but did see a NKJV, amplified, message bible, ESV, and the list goes on. If Satan can get us out of unity, not having a scripture that's the same. What Bible would a beginner know to choose, they may be overwhelmed and walk away. What dis-unity and confusion this brings. -God bless!
  12. That is absolutely right! the closer we get to God, the more opposition there is. Remember, it is perfectly acceptable to ask that angels be sent to help you and your friend. God bless you!
