  1. Hello everyone! I am currently keen in establishing good Bible reading habits. I try to read a chapter a day but lately I've been kinda of lax. Does anyone need accountability partner too? Maybe we can read together over Zoom or something? Or maybe commenting here on a daily basis to remind me to open the Bible would be great
  2. Oi oi oi! Hailing from the land down under but not from Victoria so unfortunately I can't help~ But I would love to be able to discuss more about the Bible with you (it's really rare to find a fellow aussie in this forum)
  3. Matthew 22:37 & Deut 6:4 "Jesus replied: 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind'" - We can see that in the Old Testament and the New Testament, God's commands of loving Him is the same. So how should we love God? Is it the way that we think love should work, or how the Bible states we should love? Just before verse 4 in Deut 6:2-3 "...'fear the Lord your God as long as you live by keeping all his decrees and commands that I give you ... be careful to obey so that it may go well with you" 1 John 5:3 "This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome" 2 John:6 "And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love." John 14:14 "If you love me, you will obey what I command." John 14:21 "Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him." John 14:23 "Jesus replied, 'If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching'" Throughout the Bible, God has been faced with disobedience from His own people - from Adam all the way to Revelation. I think the above verses cannot make it anymore clear on how we should love God. Then begs the question, how do we obey what we do not know? How well do we actually know God's word?
  4. Oooo I think another way of checking our spiritual health is by determining how much time are we actually spending on learning and studying God's word. The amount of time we spend on something is indicative of where our priorities lie. 1 John 5:3 says to love God is to obey His commands. How can we obey if we do not know His commands 100% right?
  5. Jesus said in Matthew 7:24 that "everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man". I think it also comes down to humility - the know-it-alls vs the ones with a child-like heart
  6. I think I'm confused on how obvious the nudges can be. Because I previously followed a "nudge" regarding studies before that ended up being really bad. The devil is also in spirit so I guess I'm a bit lost.
  7. How would you know if the spirit is from Jesus or from the devil? Because remember, the devil is in spirit as well
  8. This was a question posed to me by my friend (who is really nice and really logical and a curious atheist). I think what he's trying to ask is why are Christians fighting over interpretations of the Bible hence the numerous denominations out there? Such as what you have provided as an example, some say Jesus is God, some say Jesus is the mediator between God and men - this is amongst other things (i.e. that's not the only difference in Biblical stance there is).
  9. If someone asks you, "you say there is only one God, but even within Christianity, there are a lot of denominations fighting over the 'correct' interpretation". How would you defend your faith?
  10. ooooo thank you! this is very insightful! How do you know if the nudge is from God's spirit vs evil spirit?
  11. What is God's will?
  12. Ooooo very interesting, thank you for sharing! But I guess my question would then be why would not the Bible be clear on that? Instead of saying "Let there be light" then why not "Let there be time"? Remains a mystery to me~
  13. Hello Not so much on presuming that God cannot create light independent of a sun, but the story of creation is something I personally have been taught of as a kid (and one that confused me a lot). Gen 1:5 states "God called the light 'day', and the darkness he called 'night'". In the earth we're living in now, we know that day/morning appears when the sun rises. In so far as I've asked around even within my friendship group, there are also a lot of people confused with this too~ Can you please provide the chapter/verse in Revelation that says heaven has no sun and God is the source of light? Would like to read it too~ Thank you!
  14. Perhaps is a scary word, particularly about the Bible. It is a book that is meant to lead us to heaven and eternal life, so for me it's interesting that a lot are still kind of out there What about you? Do you have any questions that you are still unsure of personally?
  15. This is only my personal opinion, but I am always cautious in ensuring that if I don't know something about the Bible, I don't just interpret it in my own way. What about you? The Genesis question is just an example. Do you have any questions about the Bible that you are personally still unsure of?
  16. I know for a fact I am guilty of this sometimes > <
  17. Hello everyone! I wanted to have an open discussion about this: What are some of the questions you have about the Bible that are still unanswered/unclear? For example, for myself, I've always wondered what the light created on the 1st day was on Gen 1:3. The "greater light" and "lesser light" (sun, moon) were not created until the 4th day on Gen 1:16. I'm sure I'm not the only one right?
  18. Hello everyone! I've recently started to take the Bible more recently and have been spending time studying it more. I have left a poll to see what other people think about it
