  1. Agreed. unknown sin could be revealed, by The Lord, as sin later on. The more I learn, the more I know I need to learn. "Now may The God of peace sanctify [us] entirely..."
  2. Temptation attacks our thoughts, before we put sin into practice. Paul said "take every thought captive to the obedience of Jesus Christ". We can stop sin in its tracks. I believe that we can be completely free from (known) sin. All glory to The Lord:)
  3. You're probably right. Most of us could fit into at least one of those categories. Some might simply join forums for Christian fellowship, because they can't find it in their church.
  4. People are checking in, reading posts, but not bothering to join in. I'm doing the same. Is it apathy? What happened to us?
  5. The Bible is a good book to help us surrender aswell ;)
  6. Caffeine causes havoc with me, but I do like a nice coffee
  7. Read it again, more than 'our' is missing. That is the point...niv (& other versions) removes Jesus's words. Not relevant to this post, but it is relevant
  8. I was highlighting the differences in both versions
  9. Luke 11 NIV 1One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.” 2He said to them, “When you pray, say: “ ‘Father, a hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. b 3Give us each day our daily bread. 4Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. c And lead us not into temptation. d ’ ” ----------- KJV 1 And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples. 2And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. 3Give us day by day our daily bread. 4And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
  10. When a believer is 'born again', it will be obvious. Make sure you are 'really' saved
  11. Keep on fighting the 'good fight'. Try to commit to reading a chapter a day (pref one chapter from old and then new T) The Lord will bless you, and fill any spiritual 'gaps'. (Don't want to sound like a nutter, but KJV really does do it best) If you miss, pick yourself up, and start again the next day. Thankyou for sharing, and Praise The Lord for your deliverance, I've been delivered from addictions aswell. Isn't it amazing when Jesus, The Almighty sets us free?
  12. Hi, yes that is the question. Are we perfect? And do we sin? Anything that offends God is sin. Nothing is trivial. White lies are simply lies. Lustful thoughts are sexual sins (adultery) etc. Now, a sin of ignorance, is another matter. reading leviticus 1-6, shows that it still demands an atoning sacrifice. But I want to stick to 'known' sin. Lets look at fornication (pornaea). What is it? The Greek word makes it more obvious. It's not just physical sex. A huge percentage of Christians are hooked on it. If they're married, they're committing adultery. All fornication (in heart or flesh) is adultery. Jesus was clear about that. (Matt. 5:28) Sin and trespasses were two different things in O/T (leviticus 6). One is practical sin, the other is sin of the heart. The Lord demanded completely separate sacrifices, but they were both sins against God (and others). As for 'calling sin out', I once judged a single man for having Internet lust addiction, then The Lord showed me how flirtatious I was, and as i was married, i was committing adultery. No difference to God. No excuses. Peter, writing to born again believers, stated that we could "partake of The divine nature...escape worldly corruption" (para) When it comes to sanctification, The hymn 'Love divine' describes it well. Born again believers are changed (dramatically) from glory into glory. It might be gradual, or instant, what do I know? In corinthians, paul advises believers to "take every thought captive, to the obedience of Jesus Christ". Sin begins in the mind. Quashing that thought, nips it in the bud. That's the secret of success. It gets easier with practice. So, we shouldn't sin, we can choose not to sin, but we do...The love of sinning, the corruption of the world, lessens when a person is born again. The H.S. sanctifies. It's His divine power. Jesus/God is The author of Holiness. Born again Christians automatically become more like Him, to the point that they don't 'knowingly' sin.
  13. Verse 7 Ye must be born again - To be born again, is to be inwardly changed from all sinfulness to all holiness. It is fitly so called, because as great a change then passes on the soul as passes on the body when it is born into the world.
  14. John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Jesus answered - That knowledge will not avail thee unless thou be born again - Otherwise thou canst not see, that is, experience and enjoy, either the inward or the glorious kingdom of God. In this solemn discourse our Lord shows, that no external profession, no ceremonial ordinances or privileges of birth, could entitle any to the blessings of the Messiah's kingdom: that an entire change of heart as well as of life was necessary for that purpose: that this could only be wrought in man by the almighty power of God: that every man born into the world was by nature in a state of sin, condemnation, and misery: that the free mercy of God had given His Son to deliver them from it, and to raise them to a blessed immortality:
