  1. My dad died of lung cancer. He quit smoking when i was very young but still got cancer many decades later. Maybe you are right but i am having a hard time seeing how smoking is a work of flesh. You are saying that smoking will stop you from entering the Kingdom. Galatians 5:19 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.
  2. How is it a work of flesh? What scripture do you have to support that?
  3. Its not about making the flesh healthy, its about the spiritual man. If you look at scripture about the temple of the Spirit, its talking about fornication and other works of the flesh. Smoking is not a work of the flesh. Right?
  4. Some food is bad for the health though.
  5. Lots of things are bad for the health. Some foods are bad for us but paul says they are all legal. Jesus said its not what goes in the mouth that defiles but what comes out of the mouth that defiles.
  6. People have different opinions on that word.
  7. Its scary that this lady is a teacher,.
  8. Its a shame that people hate police like this. I believe most are good people and we shouldn't judge them all over one bad incident. That's like saying this teacher lady represents all teachers. We cant blame all teachers for this one woman's bad conduct.
  9. Yes, we need a humble heart, and at times contrite. There is a blessed simplicity found in Christ i think. Just following the Lord.
  10. Looks at how humble this woman's faith was. Matthew 15:21 Jesus went away from there, and withdrew into the region of Tyre and Sidon. 22 And a Canaanite woman from that region came out and began to cry out, saying, “Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is severely demon-possessed.” 23 But He did not answer her with even a word. And His disciples came up and urged Him, saying, “Send her away, because she keeps shouting [j]at us!” 24 But He answered and said, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” 25 But she came and began [k]to bow down before Him, saying, “Lord, help me!” 26 Yet He answered and said, “It is not [l]good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.” 27 And she said, “Yes, Lord; but please help, for even the dogs feed on the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.” 28 Then Jesus said to her, “O woman, your faith is great; it shall be done for you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed [m]at once.
  11. Yes but only a spiritual person can discern Gods truth. To be spiritual one must be humble like a child. Intellect is not against God necessarily, but its not the way. Gods way is more simple, humble. Matthew 23:10 And do not be called teachers; for One is your Teacher, the Christ. 11 But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant. 12 And whoever exalts himself will be [a]humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.
  12. Matthew 11:25 At that time Jesus said in reply, “I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to the childlike. 1 Corinthians 1:20 Where is the wise person? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has God not made foolish the wisdom of the world?
  13. 1 Corinthians 2 And so it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God.[a] 2 For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. 3 I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling. 4 My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, 5 so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.
  14. Athletes Won't Be Able to Wear BLM Clothing at Tokyo Games From the article: The IOC said it surveyed more than 3,500 athletes over the past year and that 70% said it was "not appropriate to demonstrate or express their views" on the field of play or at the opening or closing ceremony. The survey also showed 67% of respondents disapproved of podium demonstrations https://www.newsmax.com/newsfront/blm-olympics-protests/2021/05/04/id/1020080/
  15. This is what liberalism has done to our country. I like what the police officer said. He basically said that she was judging all police by the conduct of one officer, and seeing how she claims to be a teacher he asked should we judge all teachers by this woman's conduct? Im paraphrasing.
  16. Arrested for preaching the Truth. This is what liberalism looks like. Intolerance and censorship,
  17. Sowing the flesh is about fleshy desires i assume., Gal 6:7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8 Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
  18. In chapter 5 Paul talks about both circumcision and fleshy desires. But what does paul mean in chapter 3 verse 3? Gal 5:2 Mark my words! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all. 3 Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law. 4 You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace. 5 For through the Spirit we eagerly await by faith the righteousness for which we hope. 6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. 13 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh[a]; rather, serve one another humbly in love. 14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” 15 If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.
  19. according to its usage in the NT. Strongs G4561 σάρξ sarx sarx Probably from the base of G4563; flesh (as stripped of the skin), that is, (strictly) the meat of an animal (as food), or (by extension) the body (as opposed to the soul (or spirit), or as the symbol of what is external, or as the means of kindred, or (by implication) human nature (with its frailties (physically or morally) and passions), or (specifically) a human being (as such): - carnal (-ly, + -ly minded), flesh ([-ly]). Total KJV occurrences: 151 It sounds like it could refer to the body or the carnal mind.
  20. I dont think its a sin but its very bad for your health and highly addictive. Some people have said its worse than heroin. Dont fret over sins but be worried for your health.
  21. What were their reasons for turning to Christ?
  22. Romans 15:4 For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. 5 May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, 6 so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
  23. Yes, i agree.
