Well, the Bible does say, as Dennis brought out earlier, that 7 Demons were cast out of her....I don't remember the Bible saying that about many other women....I think it was something far worse than the sins you mentioned :).
-
It was a box filled with expensive perfume....it was her pre-burial offering to Jesus...even though I don't think she realized that He was soon going to die for all of us

So very true, Dennis! It's truly like a GOLD MINE!

I think we all agree that it was Mary Magdalene who brought the alabaster box of ointment, right? Perhaps I'm reading too much into this but when the Bible calls her "a sinner", I am assuming that means she was a Prostitute. And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment, Luke 7:37

Nice to meet you DebraKay . I'm not Catholic so I know nothing of what the Pope said about Mary Magdalene but the Bible says, "And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils," Luke 8:2. And then Matthew 21:31 says, "Whether of them twain did the will of hisfather? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you." And then remember how when Simon the Pharisee had a big dinner for Jesus and His disciples ~ Well, that woman that washed the feet of Jesus was Mary Magdalene...and Simon was thinking, "If Jesus was really the Christ, He wouldn't let such a sinful woman touch Him." Jesus read his thoughts and told him the following ~ I believe that Mary Magdalene was a Prostitute...but she repented and was forgiven :).

You are so right!

No, not at all. My husband and I were just talking about this topic this morning....he is naturally much more critical minded that I am...and PROVES ALL THINGS.
-
"Prove all things; hold fast that which is good." 1 Thessalonians 5:21. With all the MISINFORMATION out there, it's very difficult to "PROVE ALL THINGS". Nearly impossible to ALWAYS know who is telling the TRUTH & who is LYING. Thankfully, when we read the Bible, we don't have to PROVE ALL THINGS....because the Bible is TRUE, it never LIES. What we do have to PROVE are the human interpretations put on the Bible. Our job is to determine, with the help of the Holy Spirit, which interpretations are TRUE and which interpretations are LIES and to "HOLD FAST" to the true ones. There are many parts of the Bible that are not hard to understand, even a child can understand them, they are as CLEAR AS NOON DAY. And then there are other parts that are not so clear, and that is where we often read other humans understanding of those parts and that is where we must PROVE ALL THINGS.

I couldn't agree with you more, Dennis! Thank you so much for your post and your testimony!

As I read this passage this morning, I couldn't help but wonder how many of us are willing to accept persecution for the TRUTH? I don't believe we should DO things to BRING the persecution on ourselves premature....but neither should we compromise to AVOID the stigma of persecution. 2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. 2 Corinthians 12:10 That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Good question....I've never read that in the Bible, either

I think I've heard of that town. Our youngest daughter is an RN and she's working as a traveling nurse at a Toledo hospital now. If you and your family ever get up North here, come and visit my husband and I :). We'd love to meet you!

I never thought about it before, until today... We were reading about the life of Moses for Church today....and the verse in the Bible that says, "And Moses took his wife and his sons, and set them upon an ass, and he returned to the land of Egypt: and Moses took the rod of God in his hand." Exodus 4:20. The only other mention I can remember of Moses' children was a couple verses later when we are told that Moses had neglected to perform the rite of circumcision and the Angel of the Lord met him on the road threatening to kill him...and his wife came to his rescue and performed the rite herself on their youngest son. That is all we know about his children. So then, we jump years down the road....and we learn that the only people who left Egypt, who walked into Canaan was Caleb and Joshua. All the people over the age of 20 died in the wilderness. I wonder what happened to Moses' sons? Did they go to Canaan or did they die along the way. I'm sure, many of these questions we'll never have answers to until we get to Heaven. I'm sure looking forward to that!

Who should I have submitted to? HELP
Tammy Roesch replied to Thewhitedove's topic in Have a problem? Looking for advice?
I am a Christian, and I believe that your husband is doing the right thing. I believe we are to obey the laws of the land when they are RIGHT LAWS. When SLAVERY was the LAW here in America, it was the RIGHT THING to do, to HIDE THE SLAVES and PROTECT THEM. When the spies went to check out Jericho, RAHAB hid them (AGAINST THE RULES) and she LIED to the AUTHORITIES (giving the spies time to make it safely back to their camp....and God BLESSED her for what she did. I believe in obeying the law when the law is RIGHT, but I don't believe in obeying the laws when they are NOT RIGHT. -
Seems as it's becoming more and more common to see YOGA CLASSES offered at Christian Churches. It's a sad thing. It's hard for me to understand why Christians would want anything to do with NEW AGE teachings.... There are so many health principles taught in the Bible, there is no reason to go looking elsewhere. Many Christians don't understand that by attending these classes they are opening the door to spiritualism and Satan.

We've had rain nearly everyday this week, and alot of it. Thursday when I was coming home from NY on I-90, it was raining so hard, even with the windshield wipers going as fast as they could go, I could hardly see anything...it was very scary driving! I wanted to pull off the highway but was afraid that those behind me wouldn't see me and would plow into me. And it lasted for at least 10 minutes. It really made me think of the parable Jesus told about the WISE MAN building his house on ROCK and the FOOLISH MAN building his house on the SAND. ROCK is on HIGH GROUND and SAND is on LOW GROUND. I believe that "building our house" symbolizes building our characters... Our characters are the only thing we will be taking to Heaven...(these old, dilapidated bodies, God will give us NEW BODIES at the resurrection, THANK the LORD!)... It is so important that we look at the BIG PICTURE and realize that when the STORMS COME (the trials of life), and they will come to all of us, that if with God's help, we have built a character on THE ROCK, we have nothing to fear! But if our character is built on THE SAND, we can count on succumbing to the temptations and trials of life and making SHIPWRECK of this life. As Christians, we should walk THE NARROW PATH that leads UP and not the EASY PATH that leads DOWN, in all aspects of life. A Blessed and Happy Sabbath to all my Sabbath-Keeping friends around the world! We are ONE WEEK CLOSER to Jesus' return!

This PRINCIPLE is So Important....
Tammy Roesch replied to Tammy Roesch's topic in General Discussion
That is exactly how I have felt....I was pretty wrapped up in the election, too...I pray I have learned a good lesson that there is no sense spending much time on issues that we can't do anything about and especially because the media is so biased, you hardy know what is true and what is not true! But when we read the WORD, we have no doubt that it's ALL TRUE and time WELL SPENT! -
This principle is SO important! People WASTE a few minutes here and a few minutes there, and before they know it, they have waste an hour or two a day! An hour a day adds up to 365 hours a week which is more than 2 WEEKS a year ~ WASTED, with NOTHING to show for it. If people looked at TIME like they do at MONEY, ("take care of the pennies and the dollars will take care of themselves") they would be much more careful about how they spend their FREE TIME.
