  1. Its hard, I am a Biblical Literalist. In Matthew 23:8-12 Jesus commanded us not to call people by titles: teacher (rabbi), master/ instructor, father, and etc. and yet in the church we do use these titles. The Apostle Paul calls them gifts not titles of apostle, evangelist, teacher, pastor, and prophet (Ephesians 4:11). Probably the Imperial Church translated them titles instead of gifts. I am alright feeling uncomfortable. I call my pa Dad instead of Father. I’ll look at some commentaries as you suggest, but I also am glad to wrestle with this.
  2. They are making a UNO movie.. Hollywood is dead..
  3. Too bad only the beheaded for Christ get to reign with our Lord during the thousand years. Feels left out, but not willing to get in line to be in that group..
  4. Ah but in article I shared the lady mentions the dangers of relying on those commentaries. The Pharisees relied on Rabbi commentaries, later Jews have via Talmud, and it lead them all astray. Jesus our Lord told us The Holy Spirit would teach us, “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” (John 14:26) I agree with the article writer there is learning process and running to experts is not always the way. For they are fallible scholars, they can be way off.
  5. Well we know its literally a span of time, not all years like in “God of a thousand hills,” because Satan is released after a thousand years (Revelation 20:6-10).
  6. Indeed, I interpret that verse to mean you must love Christ more than your family because they may be antichrist. But not calling my earthly father by the namesake father is more difficult to interpret, makes Father’s Day hard for me.
  7. Do they glorify Jesus as Lord who came in the flesh?, “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already.” (1 John 4:1-3)
  8. Indeed so it became. The Muslims were called Moriscos. However, conversos and moriscos were often suspected for converting to escape torture and losing land, so they were tortured anyway, “the condemned if you do, condemned if you don’t” came from The Inquisition pressuring people to convert or suffer, but even if you convert you still suffer. The Spanish Inquisition & The Masscres of Huguenots in France are chief examples of the Roman dark side of Catholicism.
  9. There are passages that challenge us like: “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. And a person's enemies will be those of his own household.” (Matthew 10:34-36) “And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.” (Matthew 23:9) “If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple.” (Luke 14:26) These are some hard sayings that if not interpreted carefully could cause damage to relationships. I admit Matt 23:9 makes me call my father dad instead of father. Because I have yet to grasp fully what our Lord is saying yet.
  10. I found this article by Crossway very helpful: https://www.crossway.org/articles/we-should-expect-frustration-when-reading-the-bible/ So often we want The Bible to be jigsaws to make a puzzle complete, when it can be a rubix cube that rubs us the wrong way. Knowing its normal to get frustrated and even feel unable to reconcile a passage or verse like an Algebra equation is freeing! That just like when a subject in school drove us to exasperation, tears, and torment, we did one day understand it, and went forward!
  11. It is wild the Spanish Inquisition began as an outreach to Jews, and ended up causing The Jewish Diaspora. Best intentions..
  12. Definitely what is happening in Evangelical circles. One Evangi Church I attended said, “What is most important to God is you are generous.” Really? I thought what is most important to God is you know Him (John 17:3, Matthew 7:21-23), believe in The Son (John 3:16, John 6:40, Romans 10:9, Philippians 3:9, 1 John 4:15), and make Disciples (Matthew 28:19).
  13. Woah.. sin lists, sounds like The Spanish Inquisition.
  14. Care to elaborate? That quote by Augustine encompasses both theology, doxology, and ecclesiology.
  15. I view it as literal thousand years where only beheaded for Christ will reign, then after it Satan is loosed for the final battle and is caste into lake of fire, and the Last Judgement, and New Jeaven & Earth come. So in short what the Scriptures say.
  16. I was thinking, “brother sharpens brother like iron sharpens iron,” works if the person isn’t proud. I am in situation where my own dad won’t hear any other advice than his own, his point of view is supreme and he yells to make you submit to it. There is no way to share “sharpening” because he is obstinate that he is right on all subjects. Frankly, all I can do now is pray and limit my interaction.
  17. Amen, “In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things, charity.”
  18. Yeah, it had “Lording Over.” The Shepherds had “discipleship model” but you never graduated in your discipleship. The women had to clean the shepherds’ houses, the leaders placed ‘watchers’ in house churches to see if you had ‘rebellious tendencies.’ If you left or were kicked out, all your friends still in the cult shunned you. Shepherds decided if you could marry, they taught a white collar person could not marry a blue collar person. If a sheperd had a roofing business, a disciple had to give up their roofing business because “God does not allow competition!” Leaders were Paul Petrie, Derek Prince, Peter Donne, Bob Mumpherd, and etc. It started with the best intentions to be the Acts Church and do discipleship like The Bible says, and became a cult that destroyed families. “The best intentions pave the way to hell.” -St. Bernard of Clairvaux
  19. Lol it is strange how so many have treated the movie as feminist indoctrination tool. Barbie has always been geared towards girls, and so it is feminine at the core. That said I haven’t seen the film, and radical feminist ideology has taken over other franchises.
  20. “Seventy weeks are decreed about your people and your holy city, to finish the transgression, to put an end to sin, and to atone for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal both vision and prophet, and to anoint a most holy place.25Know therefore and understand that from the going out of the word to restore and build Jerusalem to the coming of an anointed one, a prince, there shall be seven weeks. Then for sixty-two weeks it shall be built again with squares and moat, but in a troubled time.26And after the sixty-two weeks, an anointed one shall be cut off and shall have nothing. And the people of the prince who is to come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. Its end shall come with a flood, and to the end there shall be war. Desolations are decreed.27And he shall make a strong covenant with many for one week, and for half of the week he shall put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations shall come one who makes desolate, until the decreed end is poured out on the desolator.” —Daniel 9:24–27 —————————- My take on The 70 Weeks: The anointed one is he messiah or christ, Jesus. The Strong Covenant is Jesus instituting The New Covenant (Luke 22:30), the stopping temple sacrifice for a week is Holy Week (Holy Monday to Easter Sunday) when Jesus dies for the sins of all mankind as the sacrificial Lamb of God & rises from the dead. The desolator mentioned at the end is Titus not the Antichrist. A Jewish Archeologist in Jerusalem said The Abomination that makes Desolate is whenever the Temple is destroyed, so Titus is the desolator, it is intriguing the 70th week correlates with 70 A.D. when Titus desolates and destroys The Temple. The prophecies of Daniel’s 70 Weeks are fulfilled in 33-70 A.D. by Jesus our Lord and Titus.
  21. Darby took the 70th week and moved it into the future, when for thousands of years no Christian fathers, scholars, and etc did this. Its about how Daniel is interpreted. I stick with the clearer New Testament prophecies of the end times.
  22. I want to see it when it hits streaming services to rent. I won’t be going to the theater.
  23. Cliques are indeed everywhere. Its inevitable. People who have been in a church or ministry together a long time will be close. It’s best to form a group with other newbies, since you all have in common being new or get involved with the veterans so that you form memories which become bonds.
